i've been sick the past week & finals week is coming up SO i will probably be mia possibly until the end of the year 🙏🏻😭 I will work in replies whenever I get a chance but activity will definitely be sparse
daily mantra for overwhelmed role players:
i am allowed to take breaks.
i am allowed to say no.
i am allowed to delete asks and threads.
i am allowed to retire characters.
i am allowed to breathe.
repeat those words. taste those words. remind yourself of your position and right. role play is not your job. role play is supposed to be your hobby. don’t let your hobby become a toxic obligation. it will burn you out. you are allowed to be a person.
" sounds like a suicide mission. "
"Yeah, well, sometimes that's what it takes to be a hero. I wouldn't expect you to understand that, Shroud."
“ life offers up these moments of joy despite everything. ” / @blnzer
...SHE'S SURE THIS IS THE POINT WHERE SHE'S SUPPOSED TO SAY SOMETHING PROFOUND HERSELF but her mind draws a blank. What? Sue her, she didn't memorize the last thing she read on a fortune cookie.
Besides, she could make the argument that it's basically Blazer's job to say such things to people. She is idolized by many & a role model for all sorts across the globe. Malevola is not either of those things, a wanna-be hero with a sword and a penchant for getting the job done mostly successfully. It's not something she holds any particular strong negative feelings over, life has lead them both down very different paths for a good while there and it's only rather recently that their lines have aligned here with the Phoenix Program, maybe one day Mal will be on that level too... But right now? Nope.
Arms crossed and a bored look on her face, she speaks. “ Personally I'm a huge fan of the term 'when life gives you lemons, squeeze them in someone's eyes.' but sure, we'll go with your thing. Probably sounds better anyways. ”
"That's not exactly how I recall that phrase ending, but I see where you're going with it." She offers a smile. It's a hard balance to coach former villains without sounding like a preschool teacher. The last thing Blazer wants is for the members of the Phoenix Program to feel like she's patronizing them--even if they do all tend to behave like toddlers on a sugar high. "Sounds better, and stings a whole lot less. Best of both worlds."
he watches her expression as though fascinated. drinking in every detail. unbeknownst to her, his own lips curve naturally. " dreary? " he laughs huskily, low and subtle. there's nothing dreary about his world. the sensation of blood on his gloves, the familiar whir of his beloved mask, having thousands of men prepared to act on a single command. no, disappointment comes in a very specific shade of blue. " colour ruined my life, " he stares down at the drink in front of him. then, surprisingly, another chuckle bleeds from him. it grows, swelling into a genuine laugh. " the blonde blazer is criticising my colour palette. " a sigh. it dies all too quickly. " says the personification of a lighthouse. "
shroud has always been mesmerised by her. to be depended upon so hard, and yet she doesn't shatter. she must have the weight of the city on her shoulders. funny. and here shroud is believing the world is on his. perhaps, in an odd way, they could relate to one another if they tried. " what makes me a villain? " he asks monotonously. a genuine question. because he goes against the grain? because his plans are bigger and better than anyone else's? " believing in change? " his head turns so he's facing her, all too intense. " i understand it's hard for you... heroes to subscribe to. after all, everybody wants to feel needed. to have a purpose. but the world is moving on. heroes are the past. am i such a villain, for adapting? "
The personification of a lighthouse. It's a simple statement, but it strikes Blazer deeper than she expected. She knew that she served as a beacon of hope for many people, shedding light in dark places, but she'd always imagined herself more like a star; bright and burning, already a hairsbreadth away from death-- and always at risk of fizzling out. Lighthouses were stronger than she was. Lighthouses would last longer than she would.
"You know what? I'll take it." A laugh rumbles out of her chest as she raised her glass in thanks. "I've certainly been compared to worse. I had a kid call me Ikea Woman once. It definitely made me rethink the blue and yellow."
As she brings the glass to her lips again, his question catches her by surprise. Blazer was one of the biggest advocates for the underdog. She believed in rehabilitation, in redemption. It was the whole reason she believed so much in the Phoenix Program. She knew that not all villains were rotten to the core, as some heroes would have her believe. But what actually made them a villain?
"Well, for one, hanging out in a villain's bar is usually a dead giveaway. But, considering I'm here, I guess I can't rely on that too heavily." She let out a sigh and thought for a long moment. "There's nothing wrong with adapting. Humans survive through adaptation. But humans also survive by helping one another. Using your abilities to better the world around you is a key part of being a hero. Using your abilities to only better yourself, or harming people along the way? That's where you dip into villainous territory."
what kind of love are you?
Love as Youth ;*
Your love is buoyant. Your love is bountiful. It is ageless, and it will never age. When you fall in love, it is breathless. It is joyful and endless, it is magnificent. You think it, like your youth , will last forever. Youth is eternal, and so is your love. Your love skips rocks and tells stories, your love roasts marshmallows over fires, and laughs freely. Your love does not take itself too seriously. Your love is jumping into puddles just to watch the water splash, and dancing in the rain, and it is watching Sunday morning reruns of cartoons to feel young once more. Your love is forever, forever young. Being loved by you is to be loved by the summer months. And those never end, do they? Well, I won’t tell if you don’t.
" i'm a bad person, but i'm a man of my word. "
"Robert, you're not a bad person. Do you really think a 'bad person' would come into work each day and do what you do? You're kind and considerate. You help people. You save people. And, sure, you're not perfect--none of us are--but even doing bad things doesn't make a person bad. Besides, a bad person would not tolerate half the people on your Z-Team." She let out a soft laugh, hoping her words reached him somehow. "And a bad person wouldn't be as sweet as you are."

95% of my muses are period/historical so I have to remind myself that cell phones and technologyTM exist for blazer :')
the usual low rumble of activity within the sardine is missing. villains alike are unmoving as they listen closely, observing as their leader addresses the blonde blazer. whether she'd sought him out or a drink, it is unclear, but shroud graces her presence with respect. he'd told his men to standdown upon her arrival, and no one had dared to question him. now, they sit side by side, with a gap between them. alcohol and a room full of trigger happy villains. he marvels at her audacity, and all to be philosophical.
" having a bad night? " he stopped indulging in philosophy some time ago. makes your head spin. toxic still tries his best to lure out thoughtfulness from him but to no avail. " i usually only think about that kinda shit after a rough day. " he gestures for the bartender to bring her another drink. sucks in a deep breath. " silver linings. hope. luck. i hate them all. i see the world as black or white, and i prefer it that way. all this... fuckin' grey area. leaves you with nothing but disappointment. "
It’s not her ideal way to spend her night, but after a hard day at work, the last thing she wanted to do was be at home alone. She’d prevented the city from being burned to the ground, saved dozens of civilians, and even helped rescue a cat stuck in a tree. Countless of good deeds, all in a day's work. She ought to be pleased with herself for all the good she’d accomplished, but heaviness of it all weighed heavily on her shoulders.
Surrounded by the villains that would like to see her dead wasn’t the best, but she needed a drink. She’d downed two pints of straight tequila and was only beginning to feel the tendrils of intoxication. Her muscles didn't feel as tense and her skin was growing lightly flush under her suit. But the alcohol couldn't rid her of the exhaustion.
“You could say that. More of a long day. Or week.” The corner of her lips turn upward as she let out a dry laugh. It was always easy to cheer others up when they had a rough day, when missions didn't end the way they hoped. But she was Blonde Blazer. She was supposed to be a beacon of hope and light in the world. And no one ever thought to ask if she was okay. The irony of finding that sort of awareness and kindness in the villains' bar didn't go unnoticed.
“A monochromatic world sounds like a recipe for disappointment. Maybe if you added a little color to your life, it wouldn't seem so dreary." She reasoned, daring a glance at him from the corner of her eye. "I always wondered why villains have such dull color palettes, but, I guess, if they all see the world like you do, it makes sense."
Ah, shite. "I was going to say furry portraits! Which is totally innocent, and you don't need to look at my phone history for proof." Because that was sooo convincing.
“Right. Well, its definitely less of an HR violation than whatever you were going to say.” She smirked, knowing the HR department was more of a decorative unit than useful at this point. “Don’t worry, I wasn’t planning on it. What you enjoy on your own time isn’t my business. But I’m pretty sure there are more important things to be doing than your… furry portraits. You could always come down to the gym and train.”
I wanted to tell you, you can stop worrying and call off your bloodhounds. - from visi :)
"Calling off the hounds I can do, but I'll never stop worrying about you, Visi. Especially when I don't hear from you on your days off. Whenever you don't check in, I assume the worst. I almost worried Granny had finally gotten back for, uh, burning his family jewels."
beep beep how’s my portrayal ?
. ݁⋆⁺₊✧ 🔪ཀཀ : NOIREVEMBER . . roleplay crime sentence starters, ⁽ ⁰⁰¹ ⁾ based on NOIR CRIME FILMS. genre: mystery, thriller, crime, coming of age.
You're not very tall, are you?
How do you like your brandy?
You may take off your coat and sit.
It's too hot in here for anyone who has any blood in their veins.
You can smoke here, just don't do it in front of my face.
You're looking at a very dull survival of a very dull life.
I can still speak English when my business demands it.
You didn't like working for the district attorney, eh?
What do you know about my family, [name]?
What'd you want to see me about?
I'm being blackmailed again.
[Name] has left me, about a month ago without a word.
We used to swap shots between drinks or drinks between shots.
They're alike only in having the same corrupt blood.
They have all the usual vices, besides those they've invented for themselves.
Do you want to know anything or just get rid of [him/her/them]?
I don't need any money now, but when I do, just send me the money.
Are you trying to tell me my duties?
You're a private detective? I didn't know they existed, except in books.
God, you're a mess, aren't you?
I would've thought a case like that took a little effort.
Is there any "how to be a Detective in 10 Easy Lessons, " school text-book?
I see. There is no professional secrets?
You don't have to play poker with me, [name].
I don't mind if you don't like my manners. I don't like 'em myself.
Don't waste your time trying to cross-examine me!
Do you always think you can handle people like trained seals?
I'm sure I don't care what you say, [name].
Would you do me a very small favor?
Yeah, I'm a private dick on a case.
Perhaps I'm asking too much, although it doesn't seem too much to me somehow.
Look, you got a dead man lying right at your feet.
Lie down there and be quiet.
That's a little special service I always provide all my clients. Including being insolent.
You'd do anything for [him/her/them], wouldn't you?
I don't slap so good around this time of the evening.
Those are harsh words to throw at me, especially when I am walking out of your bedroom.
Don't you ever go to bed? What you been doing?
What would anybody be doing down there?
The wound had already bled under the skin while they were still alive.
You better tell me what you're working on, [name]!
This doesn't look like the way you'd handle it.
Give me another day, [name]. I may have something for you.
I was beginning to think perhaps you worked in bed like Marcel Proust.
There isn't much money in this business, if i'm being honest.
Perhaps it wouldn't have been such a bad idea.
A woman telephoned me shortly after this thing was delivered.
Do you know where this picture was taken?
You were afraid that they might turn up something, which I couldn't sit on just yet.
I hope the police never traces that call.
I'm trying to find out why do you want to find out things I have been working on.
Anyway, it'll give us something to talk about next time we meet.
Do you remember me now? Hmm?
How much do you remember about last night?
As a matter of fact, I wouldn't say anything about anything.
Your story didn't sound quite right.
Blood. Quite a lot of blood.
I think we'll let the police in on this.
I could make it my business. I could make your business mine.
I wondered why you didn't ask me who I was.
You know, you talk too much.
I might even make it worth your while to talk to me.
Why don't you call the cops like you said you would?
I think you better get out of here.
Take it away and play on it somewhere else.
What did you come up here for?
I don't know how you got here, but I don't want you. Will you get out?
Can't you talk without pointing that gun?
Who are you? What do you get out of this?
Wait a minute, what do you mean, a couple of murders?
Well, then, nothing happened, so I got tired of waiting and went home.
Tell me, what do you usually do when you're not working?
I don't wanna hurt you. I'm tryin' to help you.
We could have had a lot of fun, if you weren't a detective.
You know, there's one thing that puzzles me. You don't seem in much of a hurry to find [name].
I can't imagine, unless you're worried about where I am all the time.
You weren't worried about me, were you? Afraid I'd get hurt?
You've already been paid, haven't you?
Kissing you is all right. It's nice. I'd like to do more of it.
If you say that again, I'll keep on saying it until I find out.
I'm trying to think of something appropriate.
You know, I think you're telling the truth, for a change.
Mm-mm. I can't afford to be seen with you.
I wanted to tell you, you can stop worrying and call off your bloodhounds.
You could've yelled for help!
Don't you even want to know who I am?
Do you want to know what I've got, or don't you?
You can get yourself hurt, kicking on doors.
Light me a cigarette, will you?
Will you get out of this and stay out if I let you go?
Get that knife and cut these ropes!
I don't suppose there's a gun around here?
I didn't have a chance to thank you for what you did back there.
I guess.. I'm in love with you.
You're the one who's shaking now.
What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a gun before?
What do you want me to do, count three like they do in the movies?
Nothing you can't fix.
open starter muse: robert robertson III aka mecha man
Taking his headset off and placing it on his desk, Robert lets out a long sigh and looks up at the ceiling, dealing with dispatching team Z was really becoming a pain in the ass, every time they showed signs of improving one of them would do something which would cause a fight and everything would go to shit. Taking a deep breath he sits back upright and looks down at his dog Beef who was currently sat at his feet, reaching down Robert picked up Beef's ball and rolled it across the office only to see it roll right into someone's feet. "My bad I was just.." He starts, looking down at Beef who's now made his way in the opposite direction of the ball, to his office neighbour Chase' cubical where he'd settle into the dog bed there. "..Being betrayed." he finished as he returns his attention to the person with the ball.
Even though she was making a dent in the paperwork that had piled up on her desk, page after page signed and filed, her mind kept wandering to Robert. A part of her always worried about how he'd handle the job under pressure. It could be a lot. Working with the Z-Team wasn't for just any old shmuck. She knew Mecha Man was capable of staying cool, calm, and collected, but working with ex-villains was harder than fighting against them. Mandy herself had experienced the learning curve when she'd first brought Visi on board, and she could only hope that Robert would find his rhythm soon enough.
As her computer alerted her of the approaching lunch hour, she let out a sigh and closed her laptop. Mandy opened the door to her office, stepping into the throng of passing heroes and dispatchers alike. Her eyes caught Robert and she made her way forward, wearing a soft smile as the rubber ball collided with her boots.
"The joys of parenthood, huh?" She teased, tossing the ball up and down in her hand. "Speaking of betrayal, I wanted to see if you were interested in getting something to eat? I think Waterboy tossed my lunch again, but I figured we could both use a break. Lunch is on me. If... you're interested, that is. I could always bring a T-bone back for Beef."

[ 🐾 ]ㅤ.ㅤdo animals like them instinctively ?
I feel like animals are definitely drawn to her as Mandy! Who would resist that face?? As Blazer though I think she's definitely more intimidating, but still just as lovable! And bigger means better snuggles!
[ 🧭 ]ㅤ.ㅤwhere would they go if they could disappear tomorrow ?
I have a headcanon that Mandy has always wanted to go on a tropical cruise, but she's always worried about leaving people behind. If she could just disappear, she'd probably fly onto a fancy cruise ship in the Bahamas or something and drink fruity margs on the deck for a full day 💅
[ 🦇 ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat is a fear they never talk about ?
I think a part of her is terrified of losing her powers and therefore becoming helpless and irrelevant (in her mind). Although she is comfortable in both forms, I think there's a part of her that's scared of losing her Blonde Blazer identity. If she was to ever lose the amulet or have it break, she'd be devastated--even though she'd play it off as "Eh, it is what it is, make the best of it, etc". She definitely enjoys her private life as Mandy, but she LIVES for helping people and making sure her powers are used to the best of her ability. Even if she lost her powers (or gave the amulet to Chase for good), she'd find it hard to stop her heroic tendencies. She'll always drop everything at any moment to help someone in need, and losing the assurance that comes as Blazer is one of her biggest fears!
