No matter what identity we cling to, it takes great courage to step out of the old masks we wear and the old scripts that we live by, and open ourselves to the mysterious inner core of our being.

Re-create yourselves: and let this be your best creation.
Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra (via fyp-philosophy)
I have nothing, and I am giving it away. It is with nothing that I came into this world and it is with nothing that I shall leave this world. In our needs to possess, we suffer. We think that we need and we forget that what we really need to survive is given abundantly to us by nature: oxygen, water, and food. We have to work a little to get it, but it's given to us by other Mother Earth - not by the supermarkets. It is at this point in my life in which I finally understand that I need not posses, for that need is an illusion of my mind. Today I can happily say that I have nothing, and that too I am giving away.

To feel that you are an individual is illusory. The one who wants to break free of it is also illusory.

And who speaks for Mother Earth? When I realize the amount of bleach we use in the cities, I feel as Mother Earth speaking to me: "Look at what you're doing, destroying the ecosystem out of fear of being sick." Out of fear of being sick we kill bacteria, wanting everything to be white and clean and impeccable. To us, impeccable means no dust. And we wonder why we get sick. Perhaps our disease began when we decided that we have to wear shoes to walk earth because the mud is disgusting. We separate ourselves from our mother and we judge her. We say she is disgusting. We are disconnected from an ecosystem in which everyone is connected. It is no wonder we suffer so much, experiencing heavy emotions such as envy, jealousy, criticism, and hatred. The moment we started to wear shoes, we became greedy. We developed judgment in thinking that we are better than the rest. Sometimes we elevate ourselves even further away from our Mother. Mud is not disgusting - it is our Mother. Dust is not disgusting - it is our Mother. If we want to heal our allergies, we should stop using bleach and start embracing the mud beneath our feet. Perhaps the cause of our disease is our inability to enjoy communion with earth. The Love of Mother Earth is the healing that humanity needs; stop using bleach and start embracing our mother.

All that you ever have to deal with, cope with, in real life–as opposed to imaginary mind projections–is this moment.
Eckhart Tolle
Let’s Grow Together - Carolina Zacaria
I feel like we’re all just souls, searching the vast ocean of the cosmos for that little spark that lights up two people: that elusive light that exists for an infinity and ends in a nanosecond. Something that makes our search worth the eons spent wandering for a moment where we see a fragment of an eternity.
Aubrey Manahan | Soulmates (via fragmentedpoetry)
Through my love for you, I want to express my love for the whole cosmos, the whole of humanity, and all beings. By living with you, I want to learn to love everyone and all species. If I succeed in loving you, I will be able to love everyone and all species on Earth… This is the real message of love.
– Thich Nhat Hanh
Look around and see the world. See where we have ended up - in a world full of suffering. A world in which individuals care only about what is theirs. In this world we have violence, gossip, misery, addiction, crime, and murder.
Perhaps the problem begins with everyone thinking that their journey is theirs alone, forgetting that we live in a system. Look around and see what nature teaches us. Nature works to maintain homeostasis - even predators do this. Look around and see our human body as part of the earth, working with one another again to maintain homeostasis. When a part of the body becomes confused, thinking that it has its own journey, cancer is produced.
If there is to be an individual journey, it must be established in alignment with the journey of the entire system. As it is currently, our journeys are established for the sake of our own comfort and success. Naturally, these things should be established for the well-being of all that is.
Our common, shared journey is missing. There can be no self without the whole and no whole without the self. This understanding is missing from our current awareness. It is for this reason that we continue growing in our misery. We remain thinking only about our individual journey instead of the journey of life in which all beings walking earth at the same time work together for the purpose of interbeing - to be able to maintain homeostasis.

It is hard to understand the benefits of living in meditation when all you know and believe is that life is about doing, creating, and never stopping. It’s hard. Very hard. It’s hard to see when we live in a matrix designed to make us believe that we have to confine our lives to schedules of doing while neglecting the act of stopping. It is when we stop that we become the masters of our reality. It is when we stop that we find what we are looking for. It’s not that we really find it though, it’s that when we stop we are able to see what has been with us all along, present in our lives - what mother life is giving us. It’s hard to understand the benefits of meditation and that is the beauty of it, for there is no need to understand - there is a need to experience.
