to those of you who are moving here from tiktok, from someone whos used both tiktok and tumbr for years...

1. DO NOT censor your posts

dont censor sex, abuse, suicide, dont censor it. we dont have censors like tiktok does, you wont be banned for talking about these things and tagging them properly helps people avoid them (also, we dont have shadowbanning here)

2. we dont really have an algorithm

you follow who you follow, and you see posts from who you follow or what you search. the 'for you page' is basically useless here. this also brings me to my next two points

3. dont crosstag

we get it, on tiktok you have to crosstag for reach, but thats not really a thing here. just tag your posts properly (also posters often leave more info about the post in the tags!! and when you reblog stuff you can leave your own notes in the tags, kind of like the old "repost comments" on tiktok)

4. dont expect to go viral/be famous

"viral" isnt really a thing on here (at least not for the average blogger). your posts will probably get 2-10 likes and you wont get nearly as many followers than on tiktok. thats just how tumblr is

5. blocking is your best friend

tiktok is VERY discussion based, and while tumblr is much more discussion based than other social medias, its still not a good place for ragebait/discourse. dont interact, itll make your experience worse in the end, just block and move on

6. you cant go into someone elses house and start rearranging their furniture

this is tumblr, not tiktok. dont diss old tumblr users for how they use the site or try to change them, thats like going into someone elses house and trying to rearrange their furniture. we've been here longer and we're familiar with the site and its culture, either find your niche, adapt, or find a different app

Another important point

You need to actually reblog posts for this site to work as it should.

Liking posts only saves them in a spot that no one checks except for the user who liked them. Most people have their liked posts hidden.

Also, this site has a spam bot problem. One way we weed those out is to check the blog to see if it's actually being used to post legitimate content. If there is absolutely nothing on your blog you're getting blocked and some users may just straight up report you as spam as a precaution.

Not to mention that the posts you reblog will only be seen by you and whoever follows you. Tagging it "fyp" does absolutely nothing.

Also, seriously, y'all – blackberry gin. Throw a carton of blackberries in a mason jar, buy some cheap gin, infuse for a week, and enjoy the most delicate, unexpectedly floral lilac-colored drink around. It completely transforms even the most dubious gin and rounds off the harsh edges – what a lovely thing. 10/10 would recommend. Home infusions are always the way to go, and gin beats vodka (no matter how cheap and cruddy) almost every time for additional depth of flavor and less harsh burn.

Homemade Inks

One of the many ways for us artsy witches to use the natural world in our practice is by making our own inks. The act of collecting ingredients, creating the ink, filling it with your energy and intent, and using it in your craft is truly magical! You can add some special touches to your Grimoire, draw sigils, add to potions, create fabulous works of art, or just replace your chemical filled paint with a non-toxic, eco-friendly alternative that is safe for your kids!

Here are some base materials you can use to make inks and the color they generally make. Obviously there’s some variation with the final color depending on the material itself (more or less ripe and the inherent color variation between selections for example) but this will give you a general idea. Also note that the color of some materials can change over a period of time.

Berries

Red Cherry- Red or Light Pink

Pokeberry- Hot Pink

Red Rasberry- Medium Pink

Black Cherry- Pink/Purple

Black Rasberry- Light Purple

Blackberry- Purple

Huckleberry- Denim Blue

Buckthorn- Hunter Green

More Ink Options:

Ground mica makes for great metallic/glitter ink

Essential oils make the paper smell amazing, correlate them with the intended spell/sigil/etc. (careful not to add too much or the oil will spread the ink, unless that’s your intended look!)

You can empty a highlighter/marker of its ink and fill your home made ink into it for those who aren’t good with pens, quills, or feathers

Modern Witch Tarot Deck Q & A

Will there be a full deck?  -100% yes. I’ve found a publisher, more details soon!

When will it be released?  -No exact date yet, sadly. Designing 78 cards takes time, but I’m working as fast as I can!

Will there be an accompanying book? -Most likely there will be.

I’ve noticed a large influx of people criticizing blogs expressing their sexuality and sexual orientation since the porn ban tumblr made and it’s not acceptable.

Just because porn and explicit content isn’t allowed, it does not give you the right to tell every blog that expresses their sexual orientation interests to stop or invalidate them or even tell them what label they should hold.

If you don’t like it then the unfollow button is easy to find on these PERSONAL blogs. The whole point of tumblr is to have personalized blogs in the first place and if you don’t like these people being authentically them without harming or abusing someone, then you are the one with a problem.

MY MOM HAS CANCER. I’M BEGGING FOR HELP

Hello everyone, my name is Ewa, I’m from Poland. My mom was diagnosed with CERVICAL CANCER stage 3B G2 back in June (SQUAMUS CELL CARCINOMA G2; Carcinoma planoepitheliale G2, invasio carcinomatosa vasorum). Since then she had only FIVE RADIATIONS (20 Gy in total) and that’s all - NO PLANS FOR CHEMO OR SURGERY. She may receive a few more radiations next year only if she’s still alive til that time and there’s an extensive bleeding. Otherwise no.

Her health problems began in February, since then she had JJ tubes put in both ureters which later were replaced with nephrostomy tubes in both kidneys. She had a massive Enterococcus faecium infection treated with Vancomycin. Lately she had another massive infection when docs put a nephrostomy tube in her left kidney. It was treated with Linezolid.

SHE DOESN’T EAT ANYMORE, SHE CAN’T GET UP, SHE CAN’T TAKE A SHOWER, SHE CAN’T DO ANYTHING ANYMORE.

Her oncologist didn’t give her a referral to a hospice nor a palliative care specialist. I had to beg my mom’s GP to receive them. We were left alone. We don’t have any family, there’s only she and I. I’m disabled person with several chronic conditions. I have to have a knee surgery but I can’t go to a hospital right now, I have to be with my mom all the time and take care of her.

I’M BEGGING FOR HELP TO BUY A WHEELCHAIR, ANTI PRESSURE ULCERS MATTRESS, NUTRICIA DRINKS, URINE COLLECTION BAGS, ANTIBIOTICS AND PROBIOTICS IF NEEDED, SUPPLEMENTS LIKE POTASSIUM, CRP HOME TESTS AND CBD OIL.

I can’t afford all that due to a very small income.

Please, I’m begging you, help me and my mom. I can provide all medical documents if requested but I have them only in Polish.

I’m absolutely devastated for my good friend Eve and her Mother.  Women in Poland face struggles every day and the health system does not provide for people like it should. Not all people have a comfortable life with good health care systems and support with pain management. Eve has her own health struggles to contend with also.

Eve has been with the community for years now and her Failure Family has been a great source of laughs for me, and many of you I know.  Never one to cause drama, a kind, intelligent and caring person, one we need more of!  Eve has been through a lot over the past couple of years, help her out if you can, please.

Every girl deserves to be with her Mum as long as possible.

I feel like the best way to describe my cats is by what they’re currently doing:

TJ (14yo calico) is washing her stomach doing the classic Tubbs pose.

Nacho (big boi orange tabby) is purring on my lap after spending 10 minutes trying to open the lid of the pizza box he was standing on.

Rumbles (smol boi orange tabby) slid behind one of the back couch cushions and has been sleeping there for almost two hours.

River (light gray tabby) is asleep draped over my shoulders because she likes standing on me and kissing my face but then she gets sleepy. 

Stormy (dark gray tabby) is sleeping with his front paws dangling off the edge of a weird part in my house where the wall doesn’t meet the ceiling and I have absolutely no clue how he got up there.

Three different parts of the realm of Hades:

Fields of Punishment. For murderers, rapists, people with no good redeeming qualities, people who had gone against the gods (Sisyphus and Tantalus come to mind).

Fields of Asphodel/Asphodel Meadows. The basic crowd, the largest bunch. People who were an even mix of good and bad. Unremarkable, nothing happens there, you just wander around for eternity.

Elysium/Elysian Fields. For the pure of heart, the sacrificial ones, the people who died heroes. Within Elysium is the Isle of the Blest, or the place for those who chose rebirth and ended up in Elysium three times when they died. Very exclusive, very small, basically the equivalent of Eden.

Different myths say different things about who goes where, but those three places are always the same.

Tartarus was generally reserved for monsters and titans, though I’m sure some myths would argue for evil humans being thrown there as well.

Hades is the RULER of the Underworld. Not the Underworld itself.
