We are still updating, between new jobs and the pandemic things have just been hectic for both of us.

I have a question, if Dazai doesn’t feed off from living people’s blood since it makes him feel their emotions due to his empathic powers. Then what does he drink instead to satisfy his hunger? And who is supplying him blood?

Dazai still drinks blood to survive, he just doesn't drink it direct from the source.

At the moment he has a supplier, and if you pay attention you'll notice him occasionally 'spiking' his coffee.

He can drink anything so long as he adds a bit of blood to it and as a bonus even gets to feel the affects for a brief period of time; for example wine or sake.

As far as empathy powers go, it's incredibly overwhelming for him and most often the person is feeling fear. Not something you want to experience during your entire meal.

I played around with vampire mythology for this comic. I wanted to stick to some of the common elements, while also adding in my own ideas for a unique and different style of vampire.

is there gonna be any ships in this comic or is it gonna be like, ship free/neutral?

It’s funny how wrapped up in creating something you get. I honestly didn’t even realize we hadn’t already addressed this.

Blood Ties is, at its core, a Soukoku comic. Sorry if that’s not your thing but considering who makes it it shouldn’t really be a shocker.

That being said, you’ve got a bit of a wait till we get into anything like that and there IS a larger story centered around our favorite feline-inclined orphan and other ships to watch for.

So don’t jump overboard just yet! We’ve only just begun.

1. It was a conscious choice to keep Dazai’s design very close to canon in both style and palette

2. His arms, neck, and upper chest are bandaged

3. I call these his bat wings

4. 5ft 11in and like 6ibs soaking wet AKA ‘the blood sucking bean pole’

5. He stole this sweater from my 98 y/o granddad’s Goodwill donations

6. I like to call this style ‘That one poetry professor who keeps trying to get you to join his cult’

7. He stole these from a Tropicana Lanes in the 70′s

8. Very pale, no blush/limited red tones in skin

9. Slightly over-the-top, carefree expressions when interacting w/ people or in public

10. When alone or not being watched his expressions are generally hard, sad, or dark (kinda like his life)

11. normal eyes

12. Angry/’thirsty’/just doing vamp shit

Quinn’s Comments:

1. Spent his first 100 years trying to ‘kill’ himself

2. Worst vampire ever. Can do all the things. Refuses to do them.

3. Prefers not to feed from living hosts as his empathy powers tend to make him feel what they feel

4. Thinks stakes are barbaric and HIGHLY judges anyone who uses them

5. This scarf is dazai’s most prized possession. DONT ask him about it.
