Alice Eis and Bert French in The Vampire | 1913 | dir. Robert G. Vignola
So I just bought and read The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, and I found the part that Martin mentions in the episode The Dhole Duplicator, and I just thought it was cool that I was finally able to read the same story Martin read, so I thought I’d show you the actual quotes from the book:
And since this episode was written by Martin, it makes me wonder if he really was inspired to make this episode because of The Jungle Book. Or maybe the other way around, where in researching dholes, he learned about them being in The Jungle Book, and so he read it just for that, and decided that that part of the book was so cool he simply had to include it in the episode. Either way, it’s pretty cool.
Also it should be noted that it's a paraphrase from Kipling, not Orwell. Which she'd know if she bothered to read.
using that 1915 recording of "boots" by rudyard kipling (yes, the one used to train soldiers for psychological warfare) as the backing track for the 28 Years Later teaser has made me very, very excited to see it
British author Rudyard Kipling
On this day a cherished author passed away
With each missile bursting, a grave is opened; each laser etches a headstone. A battlefield is only a cemetery in the making.
