Time to finally throw in my two Cents... Pennies? Who cares.
(This is gonna be a longer one)
Go3 Spoilers from here on out
I definitely didn't hate it, but it's also not what I was hoping for.
(I mean the day after the finale I felt kinda numb.... Anyways)
My first "problem" with it is that the pacing was kinda weird. It felt like the entire Jesus and Armageddon thing was kinda rushed. For what I obviously don't blame them, bc of the limited run time. But the overall depiction of him I did really enjoy.
(I mean he is literally just a baby 🥺)
Of course we also have the elephant in the room. The fact that Aziraphale and Crowley are now dead (more or less).
I have very mixed feelings about it.
On one hand I fucking hate it, bc that basically means everything, everything that happened in the last two seasons didn't happen or just never really mattered. It was very much a "everything is shit, so let's just destroy it" kinda thing.
You know, the thing that The Them fought against in season one?!
On the other hand it did very much line up with Crowley and his motivations. And I do truly think that they would have never been able to fully 100% be happy in that universe, bc heaven and hell would have always found something to bother them with.
(Also a theory I saw on Twitter is that they didn't truly die bc god still remembers them and god obviously can't get rid of herself.)
What I also find sad is that Aziraphale's character got kinda "ignored". I mean Crowley is the one who got a big love confession that was actually about him and not just "fuck heaven and fuck hell, let's be gay together in space". The final decision about erasing the universe was also only Crowley's decision and to me it felt like Azi just went along with it. (I mean in the Eden scene he did kinda look disappointed)
The "No Kiss" thing doesn't really bother me personally. I mean I would have liked a kiss but I'm also fine without one. The hand holding was enough for me :). (I mean we still got the season 2 kiss I guess.)
I think Asa and Anthony are really fucking cute and the thing with "they will find each other in every universe" will always be one of the most beautiful tropes ever, imo.
In conclusion I think the biggest issue was that a 6 episode season was shortened to 90 minutes and those 90 minutes were not enough to satisfyingly wrap everything up.
I can accept it as what it is and I'm excited for all the fanfic about Asa and Anthony :)
Also a quick side note at the end:
You are entitled to your own opinion. If you absolutely fucking hated it, that's fine. If you think that this was the most perfect ending for them, that's also fine. I just don't want people to start arguing about it.
