hey guys! since i've shut down my other indie RP blogs and I've been having a super lot of James feelings lately, I'm going to be trying to be on this blog more often, especially w/ the long weekend coming up.
i know I KEEP SAYING THAT I'M COMING BACK and that i'm a huge flake, but i hope you'll want to play with me still anyway...especially POTC blogs <3333.
Jack was employed into service for the East India Trading Company and was given command of the Wicked Wench. However, after he set free a cargo of slaves, his employer, Cutler Beckett, had Jack branded as a pirate and the Wench set aflame and sunk. After failing to rescue the Wench, Sparrow struck a bargain with the ghostly captain of the Flying Dutchman, Davy Jones, to resurrect his beloved vessel. Jones returned the ship to Jack in near perfect condition except for the permanently charred hull.
This prompted Jack to rename her the Black Pearl.

Yo, this is why Norrington said he’s the “worst pirate I’ve ever heard of,” and then Jack followed it up with, “But you have heard of me.”
Because Jack was branded a Pirate because he freed people rather than stealing anything. So Norrington, with his sense of duty, knows that Jack has been branded a criminal for actively not being a terrible human being. Norrington is torn between his duty as a naval officer and knowing that Jack is right.
He freed exactly 100 people, that’s why his debt to Jones was 100 souls. Davy has a sick sense of irony after all. Jack freed 100 souls and as a consequence his ship got sunk. Now his ship has been raised and as a consequence, he has to enslave 100 souls. This explains his reluctance to actually pay back the debt.
Crap, the latter portion of this franchise was a lot smarter than I thought it was…

Jack had finally gotten his Pearl back in his command the moment he had fallen off the cliff and forgotten Port Royal. He hoped never to see any of them again. Also, somehow, talked his way out of being sent to the locker. He had Davy Jones call off his terrible beasty. All he had to do was tell him Cutler knew where the heart was and that was reason enough not to kill him. Jack was pleased that he could talk his way out of sticky situations.
He always could. He knew how to get exactly what he wanted.
Jack got to Tortuga and he expected to charm his way into a woman’s bed tonight while still getting a few new members for his crew. He had recently lost a few due to sickness. Jack went to his favorite tavern and started flirting with the wenches. He was given free rum just for his presence. He liked that all he had to do was smile and he got his way. He sat down and started drinking his rum with a woman in his lap and looking around looking at people who could possibly be Black Pearl material or just plain stupid and hard working. That’s usually what he went for.
He spotted James without knowing who he was because he did look so different and he walked over to him and pulled up a barrel to sit across from him leaving the wench behind because as much as he believed pleasure came before business he needed new people for his crew and Gibbs was too tired to come off the ship due to manning the helm most the night before. He had to recruit new members himself. He stared in front of the man.
“Are you interested in joining my crew?” Jack asked with a bit of charismatic charm. Though he knew he didn’t have to use it on anyone in here to recruit he couldn’t help himself. It just came natural to him.
James looked up from his drink with distaste, about to tell whoever was talking to him exactly what he thought about 'joining their crew,' and what they could go do with themselves, when he realised who exactly was talking to him.
"YOU!" James exclaimed, shooting up out of his seat and drawing his cutlass. "As if I would have anything to do with YOU ever again, bloody Jack Sparrow."
Of all the places in all of the world that he had to wind up, it had to be a place Sparrow showed up.

just a reminder as to what James' primary verses are, in case anyone is interested in RP:
Cursed (OUAT AU): Takes place post-Curse of the Black Pearl. Norrington gives Sparrow a headstart, but manages to catch up with him. As the commodore bounds onto the Black Pearl, he reaches for Jack, intending to arrest him as planned. He grabs hold of a (cursed) talisman on Jack’s belt and suddenly gets thrown backward…and into another world—Once Upon a Time’s post-curse Fairy Tale Land. He has been here before, on the queen’s errands as part of the Royal Navy, but this time, there looks to be no way back.
Storybrooke (OUAT AU): Much like Dr. Whale, James is visiting Fairy Tale Land from his own world when the curse happens. He is transported to Storybrooke and, like everyone else, given an alternate identity—that of Andrew Teach, Storybrooke’s very dedicated and rules-following Harbourmaster. When the curse is broken, he remembers exactly who he is, though not many may know who he is.
Canon-based: can be anywhere in Pirates of the Caribbean canon, up to the moment in At World’s End where…well, you know

The name of the port escaped James in that moment--in fact, he'd sort of been stumbling from tavern to tavern on a small chain of islands for the last--oh, he didn't know how many days, really. Everything had blended together for some time now and he rather preferred it that way.
Each day that he could pass without thinking of all the things he'd lost--his career, his commission, command of a ship, the woman he loved, his dignity--was a good one, in his generally drunken opinion. It was the first time in his life he followed no rules, no laws, and answered to absolutely no one. It was a frightening amount of freedom, really, and thus, one that James used quite recklessly. As he figured it, he had earned it. After a lifetime of doing good, it was simply his due.
He'd met other men down on their luck, spent time with some pretty women, as well, but had not made any friends in the months since he'd adopted this lifestyle.
In an unknown port, in an even lesser known tavern, the former Commodore was not expecting to run into anyone he knew, muchless the bloody pirate who was the cause of all of this bad luck in the first place.
In fact, he wasn't even paying attention when Jack Sparrow walked by his table, instead busily downing half a pint of ale. In his tattered Naval uniform, tricorn skewed, remnants of his once-proud wig underneath that, James Norrington himself was barely recognizable. Unless, of course, someone had reason to recognize him.
