“ Don’t cry, Larkspur. You’re not supposed to be the one crying here. “ Ja’mi catches Larkspur, hugging the smaller vampire close as she launched herself towards her. It was like nothing changed from eight months ago. She rubs the others back. In her mind for a few moments, they could of been in the kingdom of Arotel just acting like nothing had changed.
Then she was brought back into the reality of the situation. Right, how did she get into Wonderland? Ah, right. It was a simple story. “ I was searching the human world for you, but ended up here. I don’t remember the specifics, but… “
Ja’mi sighs, refusing to let go of Larkspur. She still held her as she spoke. All these questions….
“ Worry not of my kingdom. My kingdom will be alright. Mother will lead the attacks against Lore and win. “ Of course she had confidence and pride in her kingdom. Because one day, sooner or later, she would be leading the very same kingdom.
“ Erie and Daphy escaped somewhere safe. “ For the first time in the conversation they shared, her voice held a hint of uncertainty. She averts her eyes. What of her retainers? She had felt horrible she had yet to consider them until the names left Larkspur’s lips.
Larkspur gave a weak chuckle at Ja’mi’s comment, her snivels quieting down to little whimpers. “If you tell me not to cry I’ll just end up crying harder, you know,” she joked. How could she help it? The younger princess has always been the more emotionally driven between them, her tender heart guiding her actions. A reunion like this... Of course there were going to be some tears.
The joking lit to her voice fades as Ja’mi explains the circumstances behind her arrival. She’d been... searching? For her? In the human world no less, the one place she dreaded going above all else. Here the vampire had believed her disappearance months prior to have meant nothing.
If Ja’mi hadn’t gone to look for her, she’d still be back home... With her retainers, and her family. The knowledge felt like a heavy weight on Larkspur’s shoulders; it had been her fault that they’d been separated in the first place. Being in her friend’s embrace like this... Did she even deserve it?
She brushed the thoughts off, pulling the slightest bit away from the elder princess. Her arms still held onto the other fondly, cherishing the embrace with all she had. Larkspur was greedy, not wanting this moment to end. Still, they had to let go eventually... Just a moment longer.
“I’m sure they’re alright,” she reassured gently, voice laced with a delicate softness reserved for her inner circle of friends. Daphy and Erie were capable fighters in their own rights. They were royal retainers after all. “Ignis and Hiems will be with them, too. They’ll be alright, don’t worry.”
“Say,” she said, tilting her head slightly. “If you’ve just arrived, does that mean you haven’t found a place to stay yet?”
