              ‘ no, it’s fine, ’  her voice subtle in tone, as she looked to the blonde. wearing layers which padded her against the hot liquid, she was pretty much protected. however, the quick change in the other’s attitude made her eyes widen in bewilderment. ‘ well, i’m sorry if the concern for my kids is more important than watching where I walk, ’ she informed. her lips now curling into a vexed expression. well, to say she hadn’t met someone like this would be an understatement; a person that was easily capable of blowing hot and cold. as another apology escaped the others lips, she only found her expression growing even more dazed.  however, it seemed it was all due to a bad day.  ‘  ummm … well bad days shouldn’t always be left at just that, besides the day hasn’t even ended so … ’ her words hopefully encouraging,  ‘ make the most of it. ’

Caroline snorted slightly at the mention of the well being of the kids “they’re going to die one day, the earlier on the better” she shrugged, although it was a lie. Caroline had a soft spot for kids, and if she wasn’t in a foul mood she’d probably agree that watching the kids was more important. Caroline did feel slightly bad for changing her mood like a 360 degree turn but she couldn’t help it. “Make the most of what? Sitting alone while I work from home rather then at actual work where i’d be doing the same thing just surrounded by annoying humans!” the word human had rolled of her tounge before she’d even caught what she had said, but she couldn’t cover it up without looking suspicious.

jasmine finished her class for the day and was heading to the coffee shop so she could get some studying in. the witch was getting in some studying time in since she had finals soon and needed to make sure that she didn’t fall her classes. she was sending a text to a friend, which is why she didn’t notice a person walking towards her. she stopped texting and almost dropped her phone when she felt someone walk into her and spilled coffee all over her. “no, no, it’s okay.” she said to caroline. “it just sucks since this shirt is one of my favorites.”

“Oh please, if it’s one of your favourite shirts-- then don’t act like it’s okay” she muttered, rolling her eyes slightly. “What is it with people trying to annoy me today? Like first work decides to be an ass, even though i’ve been on late shift all week and then you try acting like you don’t care” she paused to gesture the woman up and down “even though you should, you know lying is a sin” she sighed “although so is me punching you, so honestly please.. next time at least try telling the truth” she ranted, her bad day finally making her snap at the poor innocent woman.

He was going to tell what she wanted to hear. Of course he didn’t truly miss Caroline but he knew how to work her. He quickly caught on her flirty cues, grinning from ear to ear. He chuckled, “I suppose you are right. I would be out of job if no one came in here for a drink and good time.” Zed arched his brow at her request. He was the manager; he could basically do anything he wanted. “Hmm,” Zed pretended to think it over. “I would have to ask the boss if it’s okay. Give me a second.” He spun around grabbing that closest bottle with a cheeky grin. “He said to do whatever he pretty woman says.”  He poured himself a shot glass. 

Caroline chuckled as he spun around, a bottle of god knows what in his hand. She sipped her drink slowly, enjoying the bitter liquor as it burned her throat. “So, pretty woman hmm?” she giggled, a hand running through her hair, and a small smirk playing at her lips. Caroline wasn’t stupid, she knew Zed was using her for the free blood and let’s be honest-- she didn’t care. It meant company for her.. hot company. “If you’re going to do whatever I say, maybe you should prove how much you’ve missed me” she raised an eyebrow at him, her head cocking to the side slightly. “I dare you”

Sam loved her days off. She didn’t have to deal with people at the diner. It was all about her. She had plans to go jogging with her dogs after a quick shopping trip. With her attention on her phone, Sam turned the corner to suddenly feel hot coffee all over her. A loud gasp escaped her lips. “OH MY GOD!” For the split second, Sam was extremely angry. Hot coffee just ruined her outfit. That quickly faded as she realized something better. Sighing, Sam looked down at the brown stain. “I hated his top anyway. You honestly did me a favor. I have one more excuse to get a new outfit. I feel more sorry for you. You lost a whole cup of coffee.”

Caroline scoffed slightly at her words. “What is it with people and their need to buy a new top every five minutes” she snapped, rolling her eyes before sighing softly. It wasn’t the womans fault that her day have been so bad already. “Sorry, look at least let me pay for your new top. It is my fault this one’s ruined after all” she hummed. She didn’t really feel that sorry but she thought maybe a little shopping would ease her day. “Caroline” she said extending her hand for the woman to shake. “the person who’s buying you a new top!”

              dark orbs drifted to the distant children, as she parted ways with them. one of the little jobs she had as a teacher, which was getting her students home. the pure enjoyment of the ifs which was brought reunion of loved ones plagued her thoughts. a picture she had dreamed of so long ago, and now a picture she wanted to protect. her lips pressed together firmly, as the crisp breeze gave no warning of its arrival nor the collusion that ensued. she normally didn’t run into situations like this and to say she wasn’t mad was an understatement. ‘  you’re fine, ’   the words poured from her lips with fluidity,   ‘ it’s not like it was intentional …  ’ 

Caroline scoffed slightly at her words. “you’re not fine, I just poured hot coffee on you--” she mumbled, her eyes hitting the stain on the front of the womans shirt. “At least your shirt isn’t white” she shrugged, her eyes meeting the womans again. “Although next time, instead of watching the children, you should watch where you are walking!” she snapped slightly, the remains of her already bad day evident in her voice. She ran a gentle hand through her hair “i’m sorry-- it was my fault. Bad day!” she huffed, blowing strands of hair out of her face. “I mean who calls you in a rush to get to work on your day off, and then texts you two minutes before your shift saying they don’t need you... ugh”

His smile appeared on his lips when he saw the familiar blonde across from him. He has had a tough day and he was in need of some fun. Like most the people Zed took back to his place, he hardly saw them again. However Caroline had access to hospital blood and he could just let that go easily. Zed leaned casually on the bar, flicking his toothpick with his tongue. “Coming right up.” He winked before he stepped away to make her drink. “Sounds about right. I was starting to miss that pretty face of yours.” Zed slid her drink over. “What brings you in today?“

Caroline took the drink, and slid a note over the bar. “Missed me eh?” she teased, a grin on her lips. “What brings anyone here Zed? Boredom and a need for alcohol” she joked, her eyes glistening in the lighting, sparkling with a joy. She loved her job, she loved helping people but she needed times like these to forget. “Tell me handsome, any way I can persuade you to take a break to drink with me?” she asked him. “Come on!” she said stepping up on the stool slightly and leaning over the bar so her face was close to his. “pretty please” she winked at him.

Club Purgatory was busy as it usually was. Zed had his hands full with a full crew of dipsticks. One guy had called out and the only other guy here was only on his second week at the bar. Zed’s patience was growing very low. He looked over his shoulder and the club’s bar was becoming over crowed with customers that had probably been waiting to be served. Ripping himself from what he had been dealing to attend to the first customer that was closest to him. “No, we don’t fucking keep that bottle there!” Zed shouted over to his employee before addressing the person on the other side of the bar. “Sorry about the wait there. What can I get ya?”

Caroline entered the club not long after a few of the other customers. She had been having a few late shifts transferring notes for patients, and on her day off she decided to go visit Zed. She also needed a drink, which is why she was currently yelling her order across the bar. “’ello, vodka and coke please!” she called over, a grin on her face at the recognizable face of Zed. They’d been having some form of an affair for a couple of times now, and she was hoping tonight would at least end with some flirting. She could use to let her hair down. “been what, a week? two?” she asked him when he came back with her order.

Caroline sighed softly as she rushed down the street, coffee in hand. She was late for work, and she couldn’t afford to be late for the third time that week. She bit her lip, as her phone began to ring, signalling she’d recieved a text. She fumbled through her purse, coffee in hand while still walking. Opening the text, she let out a frustrated growl. They’d told her there was no need for her at the clinic today. She span around to head home, but her not watching where she was going ended up with her bumping into someone, and spilling coffee onto them. “I am so sorry!” she gasped, her hand moving to cover her mouth as her coffee cup hit the floor. “Shit!”

Background:

Caroline was a young girl when her parents died in an ‘accident’ as it’s known to the rest of the world. She later found out from her cousin that it was a murder not an accident, but nobody that isn’t SUPER close to her knows this.

She lived with her cousin from the age of seven to the age of seventeen. When she turned eighteen she moved to study nursing in New York. Her family was rich, famous and influencial at the time period so nobody questioned her being a woman studying.

She fell in love when she was nineteen years old. Her first love was the one who turned her. Caroline dated him for two years and she knew what he was and she accepted him. That was until he took his bags and disappeared, leaving her heartbroken. She felt humiliated and didn’t speak to anyone for days. She stopped her nursing studies and returned home.

Two years later, she met him again when she was twenty four. He kidnapped her, admitted he was the one who killed her parents for fun and then turned her. He told her he fell in love with her, but even then as soon as she found a way to escape, she did.

She was a twenty four year old, newly turned vampire. Throughout the years she went back to study nursing and even was a nurse during WWI and WWII. She no longer trusts people, her family is dead, her heart is still broken and she’s terrified to run into her sire again.
