You've lived in this small town for your whole life and now it's up to you to save it... and maybe find love along the way.
Blooming Tides is an interactive slice-of-life romance novel that's planned to be made with Twine. You take the role of a resident of Flora Coast, a small coastal town, as you try to generate enough money to convince the governor to not sell the land to a CEO, who has plans on demolishing the town for a luxury resort.
My name is Meg and I'm also the author for @house-of-evenmoor. This story is was meant to be made in Twine to help me learn how to code for my other game, but I ultimately decided to keep my other game on ChoiceScript since Itch has decided to hide certain games from being seen. While House of Evenmoor doesn't have any sexual content, it's still a horror based game, and I didn't want to have to deal with that.
If you couldn't tell, this is based on and heavily inspired by farming sims (Harvest Moon/Story of Season, Stardew Valley, etc) and any other "small town" romances.

Stop that hotshot CEO from destroying the town.
Noah/Norah Wood - The Miner. A Flora Coast native, you grew up with them. You two were close friends when you were younger, but ended up drifting apart over the years, despite living in a very small town. They're happy to be working with you again. They're cheerful and pleasant to be around, but tends to get distracted easily.
Silas/Sasha Fox - The Doctor. They actually moved to Flora Coast from the outside, which was ... odd... to say the least. Most people don't willingly come to a small town in the middle of nowhere, especially if they're a doctor. But, then again, they've always been a bit... unconventional.
Riley/Rianne Green - The Teacher. An outsider from Flora Coast who settled in rather nicely. As the only teacher in town, they're usually seen with a gaggle of children following them, even on weekends. They're a friendly, kind, and pretty genuine person with the patience of a saint.
Cassidy/Claire Meadow - The Hotel Manager. A born-and-raised Flora Coast resident. Their family owns the Holly Hotel, the only hotel in the area. You grew up with them too, but they were a few years older than you and never paid you any mind before. They're blunt, curt, and aren't really everyone's cup of tea, so to speak.
Tobias/Taylor Hill - The Waiter/Waitress. Another Flora Coast native, they're your best friend. You two shared everything together when growing up and that hasn't stopped. They're a bit shy and soft-spoken, but, with you, they're loud and animated. They have big dreams and a creative mind.
Blake/Bailey Field - The Animal Shop Worker. A native Flora Coast resident. They grew up with you as well, and they were a terror. Maybe you have a bit of bad blood, but that's all in the past now. They have recently come home and they've seemed to settle down... slightly. They're still teasing, eager, and brash, though.
Philip/Philomena Steel - The Lawyer. An outsider from the city. They're the child of the CEO who wants to turn the town into a luxury resort. They're rude and stuck-up and are only in the town to "keep eyes on it" for their father. They irritate you and vice versa. You want them to leave town and they're insistent to stay.
Luke/Lucy Waters - The Farmer. Raised outside Flora Coast, but with blood from the town. They're quiet and they don't say much, but they're determined and hardworking, that's for sure. You always see them running around town and they, somehow, always find you to give you a gift.
I've ultimately decided to keep this game on ChoiceScript as Itch has decided to hide certain games from being seen. While this game doesn't have any sexual content, it's still a horror based game, and I didn't want to have to deal with that.
L and I share the same birthday AWESOME! How will the romanced!L and MC do to celebrate if they share the samw bday?
Hey! Happy birthday!!
L is pretty flexible with what they'd want to do with MC, if they shared a birthday. They'd let MC plan everything and they'd just happily tag along, since there's not much they don't like to do!
That said, if MC's "plan" is to let L decide, they'd probably just pick an easy day at home or on the beach to relax since they work every single day. They'd prefer to stay in town for their birthday, but if they knew MC wanted to go into the city, they'd definitely arrange that too.
L is pretty ambivalent towards parties but, and if MC wanted to as well, they'd have a small party with family and friends. Whether it's at Magnolia or the farm or elsewhere in town, it doesn't really matter where to them and more so of who's coming.
They'd also try their hand at making a cake/dessert to try to surprise MC. L can cook fairly well, but baking is a totally different story. They'll try their best for MC, though... But there's probably an 8 out of 10 chance L accidentally switched salt and sugar or the dessert is burnt beyond recognition, etc.
TL;DR: L is happy to do what MC wants, but if it was up to them, they'd stay in town for their birthday and have a small party with family and friends. They'd try to surprise MC with a cake/dessert, but they're bad at baking so... proceed with caution!
Hello everyone! Just wanted to post something saying that I haven't quit working on this LOL!
I work at a school, so things have been pretty hectic as we wrap up the school year, which hasn't really gave me any freetime to write or code, unfortunately.
I've also started taking drawing classes so I can draw our lovely cast of characters! I'm excited for that, although I'm a much better writer than I am drawer so, you'll have to forgive me if they're a bit rough!
Lastly, I've been thinking about whether or not to keep this on Twine or switch it to ChoiceScript. I know this was originally meant as a smaller story so I could learn Twine for my other story ( @house-of-evenmoor ), but I feel bad for making you guys wait so long for it and switching to ChoiceScript would make the coding process faster.
So, please feel free to let me know if you have an opinion on that, or not!
Otherwise that wraps up this update post! I still have birthday posts scheduled for the characters, but hopefully I can come out with some art for you guys soon!
(1/6) how would The Glade Family feel about MC dating any of the ROs?
You'll find out in the story, but overall I can tell you they'd mostly be happy that MC found someone. They'd probably a bit more confused with P than any of the others, but they're overall happy.
btw if you like sandrock they're also currently working on my time at evershine, the third game! i think it's supposed to come out next year? and it already looks absolutely awesome
have fun! i'm excited for your story but i completely understand how addicting sandrock is LOL
Thank you! And I did hear about it!
I'm excited to see what'll be in the third game. A bit sad that I got into the game so late and I missed the Kickstarter for My Time at Evershine, but that's fine.
my time at sandrock, my favorite game! i'd definitely not mind some pieces of it in your game haha
i hope you like it! when i discovered it last year i literally played it for 18 hours straight, i'm really glad it happened over a weekend
I'm having a lot of fun with it! I have probably over 100 hours in on it already LOL! I've been playing it at night after work, which is usually my writing time, so it's kept me a little tied up LMAO!
I'm glad I came across it, though! Both because it's fun and a good game and it's also definitely inspired some things in this story! Mostly with the overarching world, but I think some characters absorbed some traits of certain Sandrockers as well, LOL!
Hello all! Sorry for the radio silence, life got real busy LOL! But I'm slowly making progress!
I also started playing a new (for me) game called My Time at Sandrock. It's like a farming sim but you play as a builder instead and it has an interesting plot! So... that's been taking up most of my time. If any of you know that game, don't be surprised if some of it seeps into my writing!
Anyway! I just came on here to make a poll I for something I'm curious about! I don't know if I polled for this before? I might have, I just don't remember!
Do you prefer when IFs have face claims, character art, or moodboards for the characters?
Face Claims (irl people)

Just curious to see what the general preference is!
The procedure went well and everything's all good, but I was correct when I said I wouldn't want to do anything else this week.
I wanted to do something for C's birthday, which is tomorrow, but I don't feel up to coding or writing anything big, so they're just getting a simple birthday post and, if you guys send in C-specific asks, I'll answer them. Otherwise, that's all that's happening for the rest of this week. Sorry!
