went through the effort of making this gif just to remind everyone of rocky scooting closer to grace on the beach
[ID: A gif from Project Hail Mary of Grace and Rocky sitting together on the biodome's shoreline. Rocky folds his limbs in to "sit" beside Grace, and after a few moments readjusts to tuck himself closer to Grace's side. End ID]
People forget Simon can't shut up when he's stressed out. He was straight-up monologuing to a completely silent Eel just to self-soothe down there in the Lung.
Simon wouldn't get into the atrocities he did, but he'll mope about the state of things, about the bigger picture, and about other people. He'll talk about memories and do everything possible to lament on happy times.
But he won't admit he's just as bad of a man as everyone else.
He won't talk when he thinks the person asking will hold it over his head. That's only fair. Simon's ready for everyone around him to be a bully, because we all saw what the COI did to Simon when he believed in them enough to surrender.
Simon's a talker. Most of the lines in the entire movie are Simon just yapping to himself.
Just an observation I made from the movie while challenging some common fandom tropes!
What prev said !!! Simon is not broody. I don't know how we came to this conclusion. Dude's actually incredibly open with everyone and even tries to apologize and level with his own captors. He asks questions even when they might be useless.
Simon's a curious, chill (mostly) guy, even in terrible situations.

This brings to mind something I heard from a professor once.
I went to a class was basically Urban Studies but with an evangelical bent. This professor had previously worked counseling incarcerated people, though whether it was as a chaplain or as a therapist I no longer remember.
As part of the class, we had to complete and reflect upon certain assigned exercises. Over the course of the class, the result was somewhere between five and ten short essays titled "Five Things I Learned About Myself..." fill in the blank with whatever exercise.
The rationale he gave for this was, and I'm paraphrasing, "The people I counseled had a lot of experiences, but they never spent time introspecting on those experiences. They got to where they were because they never asked hard questions about themselves."
I've seen the backrooms movie and now i'm mentally putting grace and rocky in there. Rocky hears grace fall through a random spot in Mary's floor, and he panics and accidentally follows suit. Backrooms spoilers below
Yknow how Clark's SL/'duplicate' spawned after he frequented the backrooms more and more? What if they spawned their own SLs. They make a system to go between layers of the hail mary bc hey! Extra space! Not gonna question that. And eventually one of them goes down to see those fucked up versions of themselves. Rocky gets to tell grace that his SL does not, in fact, have organs. They promptly cover up the 'door' with xenonite paneling and refuse to acknowledge the occasional noises that come through.
This far away the complex cant reach them, it hasnt expanded with human traits that far. The hail mary is leaving a trail of fucked up spaceship complex for the backrooms to grow from that new point. It might even mix in a little of rockys memory of erid in there
MEMORY FOAM THE STILL LIFES WERE MADE OF MEMORY FOAM THE BACKROOMS REMEMBERS
whatever i'll crosspost this one
good movie
Theseus and The Minotaur
This is for that one person from tiktok
Watched Backrooms at the cinema of a dead mall that's only standing because of the cinema. Walking out we are immediately greeted by John Backrooms itself and die instantly of sheer heart attack.
This is, by far, the correctest way to watch Backrooms.
I don’t remember this stag station…

I think it’s so funny and amazing that people are anthropomorphizing the fucking spaceships and making them into lesbians.
Keep going guys, I love it all 👍
saw fanarts of humanized versions of the spaceships... had to join... my darlings
i don't see anyone talking about how Rocky had to go back to Erid and tell everyone his 22 other shipmates had passed. why not. also why is no one talking about how earth had to find out through Grace's recordings that Yao Li-Jie and Olesya Ilyukhina both passed before being able to complete their missions. do you think their families and friends were upset at the mission commanders for sending them without a higher rate of survival. not survival back to earth, but at least to complete the mission. they all already had to grieve that they'd never get them back, but to learn that they weren't even able to complete the mission they were sent for? how heartbreaking do you think that was. for the eridians and the humans alike. I imagine the eridians being more forgiving, because they had no way of knowing what could've happened, and they also expected Rocky and them to make it back, so it's just, in simple terms, one grievance. the friends and families of the Hail Mary already grieved the crew because they knew they were sacrificing themselves for the betterment and safety of humanity. but then they had to grieve that loss again because they no longer had a 'reason' for their deaths. what if. why doesn't anyone talk about that.
