i’ve been trying to force it because i love writing my twst muses, but i may end up deleting these blogs depending on how i feel in the next few days.  i think it might calm some nerves i’ve got related to twst, especially in an rp context.  this isn’t an announcement of anything, just me saying that if this blog does disappear in the next coupla weeks im not dead, just coping with some bullshit

i’m also going to be clearing out some old headcanons and tweaking my portrayals to be a bit more canon compliant, at least as far as yuu goes.  i’ll try to post something that summarizes the changes eventually.

the high - level view here is that there was a period where i was trying to integrate yuu more fully with the plot and make them more central to it, which i’m going to be slowing down on.  in terms of specifics, the biggest one is that my yuu overblotting plotline is getting dropped.  a few smaller things, such as yuu’s involvement in episode 3, will be toned down, but the basic are still there.  yuu’s still the same, backstory and personality and all, i’m just going to keeping their present actions more in - line with game yuu

it’s a rare feeling, embarassment. they honestly thought fagin (and kalahan, in a different sort of way) beat the ability to feel it straight out of them.  “ yeah, ” they say, shaking out their hand and almost mirroring yuu’s pose. “ it’s ollie. ‘nd you’re yuu. ” because it’s impossible not to know yuu, even for someone who deliberately tries to stay out of all the interpersonal bullshit of this school; moving into the shittiest dorm on purpose isn’t exactly subtle behavior.

IT’S NOT LIKE YUU FITS THEIR TYPICAL TARGET, EITHER. they prefer the more obviously pampered rich - boys who’d never suspect, or just selling off whatever they can grab. but as always: desperate times call for desperate measures. they aren’t sure how much longer they can ration their immune suppressants before things go from ‘tolerably bad’ to ‘emergent’. even ren commented on how their fingers looked more blue than usual. mercifully, ollie recovers from their shock with a jaunty tilt of their head. “ you’re better ‘t this than you look. where’d you have the chance to learn ?? ”

Now that Yuu’s actually looking at them — yikes.  The prefect’s had more siblings than they can count, which means they’re familiar with a wide variety of — well, everything.  Including illnesses.  Yuu’s not a doctor, but this is either lupus, rosacea, or a fun new magic - only infection that they haven’t met yet.  (  they’ve had siblings with two of the three.  )  Either way, they feel their eyes widen, just a mite.  They’re perpetually infected by differing, if never warring, goals : to protect others, and not to rip themselves apart for strangers.  The former often takes center stage.

“Yeah, ‘m Yuu.  Nice t’ meetcha, Ollie - san.”  They slip into a looser method of speech, honorific aside, and shrug at the question.  That’s all the answer Ollie’s getting, at least for now.  Their head tilts.  “I don’t make it a habit to get nosey about people’s health, but you look like shit.  Are you okay?"

“Nope.”  It’s easy as anything, the way Yuu catches the hand trying to snatch their wallet out of their pocket / Ollie’s good, but so is Yuu.  (  not nearly as experienced picking pockets, but very used to be being robbed.  )  Yuu’s grip, just briefly, goes threatening — a quick twist that, pushed a few degrees farther, could spell a broken wrist.  The goal isn’t to harm, of course, just to show I CAN HURT YOU IF I HAVE TO.

But they don’t have to, and they’re too good to push further.  Yuu releases their hand and fixes them with that tell - tale blank expression, though the raised eyebrow adds some flavor.  It’s not the first time this has happened — people assuming that, because Yuu is open and kind and patient, they’ve never been hurt / would make for an easy mark.  They’re not mad or anything, and their hands find their pockets.  “Ollie, right?  If you need money, just ask.  But we’re not doing this.”

     she had noticed riku’s message far too late, not knowing until she had already made it to night raven’s campus that he would be unavailable for their usual lunch together ( along with the message was a sincere apology that was instantly forgiven, they could eat lunch together anytime ).  normally, she would turn around & head back to silver ridge, but she had yet to eat lunch, & finding a relaxing corner of the campus to settle & eat sounded nice.

     but, the spot she chose turned out not to be uninhabited.

     it took her a moment to realize she recognized the person whose solitude she had interrupted. riku had mentioned them a few times–––– a traveler from a world that no one had heard of before who had seemed to turn the whole school on it’s head. kairi was sure she had seen them once or twice during her visits to night raven, but they had yet to have a real conversation. 

    she had been standing there in the aftermath of her realization for a bit too long, & she moved to leave, but something felt off. something made her stay, though she remained standing & distant as she asked.

Yuu considers themself a good person.  They do, despite their tendency towards self - flagellation.  At least most days, including today.  And good people — well, they definitely don’t stand by and watch people getting bullied, and Yuu hasn’t ever been the type that did.  This is no different.

It doesn’t always end up like this, but Yuu can’t say they’re surprised that this particular saving ended like this.  Like this : their nose is bleeding.  The fucker hadn’t broken it, luckily, and had run off when it became apparent that Yuu wasn’t about to go down as easily and he’d likely expected.  Still, they’d been tucked away in a corner, trying to wait out the bleeding, when a stranger (  ?  ) stumbled upon them.

Oh, and — Yuu’s not one to make assumptions about gender, but they know that uniform.  Not only somebody from off - campus, but a girl, based on where she DOES attend.  They...think they’ve maybe seen her before, even, hanging around with another student they don’t know.  Will wonders never cease.  Yuu faces them properly, managing a smile despite it all, if only to assure the girl that they’re fine.

“It’s okay, it’s not as bad as it looks.”  The bleeding IS mostly stopped by now.  “No need to apologize.”

how interesting would it be to see yuu’s reaction if they were to learn that the closest thing albedo had to a blood relative was the corpse that made the entirety of dragonspine a home / that there wasn’t anything akin to blood flowing in these veins that connect him to another. no, all albedo has ever known about the world of family relations was those of close associations.

but even then — there was no need for scientific studies to unveil the importance of such close connections, regardless of blood ties or the lack of. maybe that’s why a smile ( small / so unrecognizable in the frozen wasteland that was albedo — ) breaks through the tundra as he shifts the attention back to yuu. ❛  i believe you to be right. there is more to family than simple blood relations.  ❜ eyes close and he sees; forest fires and four - leafed clovers and dandelions and a bleeding heart buried in the snow that beats and beats and beats and even now, he hears it. he hears him.

@savanaclawed​ : leona doesn't even open his eyes where he's laying on the grass — he doesn't need to, what with their magicless scent sticking out like it does. "oi, herbivore — you're blockin' my sunlight." and with it being autumn like it is, he does rely on the additional warmth from the sun to not be cold.

Yuu’s head inclines, first toward their catboy bestie (  they’d heard pearce call him that about a week ago and have been holding onto it since; it seems like the kind of thing that piss leona off, which is definitely a hobby of theirs  ) and then towards the sunlight they’re blocking.  They weigh their options for a moment — truth be told, they are just on a walk, so it’s not as if they’d planned on sticking around.

And yet.  The chance to fuck with Leona is a hard one to pass up.

After a few beats more, Yuu comes to a decision — and moves further into the sun, casting almost all of Leona’s body in shadow instead of just half of it.  They smile, shit - eating, and tilt their head.

“Leona - chan, you don’t sound that happy to see me.”  Their smile widens.  “Eat shit.”
