Working a full time job is a challenge all its own. By the time a typical work week is done, the average person will have spent forty hours at work, ten hours commuting, and five hours at lunch or running personal errands during the day. That’s fifty-five hours or just shy of half the work week.
Assuming that a person gets eight hours of sleep per night, that leaves twenty-five hours of time to spend on a side hustle during the week, and an additional sixteen to thirty-two hours, depending on how hard someone wants to work on their weekend.
It becomes much more complicated when you work a side hustle while dealing with a chronic illness.
How pain and depression have affected my writing
Dealing with a new cluster episode, I’m fighting a depression. Depression born of frustration, loss and inability to do what I know I can. My normal outlet for dealing with depression is writing. After such an amazing experience with the first open beta, I was excited to install the second beta release of the new iPad OS.
Apple's Open Beta 2 for the iPad is out. Given how fantastic their first beta was, I excitedly installed the second one.
It wasn't a completely regrettable choice. But as with all betas they fixed some things, and broke others.
Unfortunately, they broke more than they fixed IMHO!

I came across this photo scrolling through facebook. It bothered me, though I understood the sentiment.
I came across a photo that disturbed me while I was scrolling through facebook. I couldn’t figure out why. But I saved it off, and started writing.
This was the result.
On a whim I tried a product that I have been staring at for a year. The PaperLike screen protector for my iPad. I purchased it and then waited patiently for it to arrive. It seemed to take forever, but really it only took a few days. I was just being impatient. The day it arrived, I applied the new screen protector and immediately started playing with it. The first thing I discovered was the enhanced feel of the protector and how much it improved my writing. Yes, that screenshot above is improved. Can you imagine how much worse it was originally? But seriously, I love this screen protector. I used my iPad before to take notes with, but most of the time I typed. Now, I’m able to take hand written notes and actually read them! Not only did I receive the screen protector, but I also received a link to download the digital journal PDF with active links to navigate this 380 page beast of a document. The video that is included with the download page gave me an idea for doing a journal, and I adopted it. — that’s the typed text you see on the left side of the image. The last two weeks have been … Scratch that. Since school ended, the workload has gone through the roof with everything going on at work. I think I am busier this year than I have been in the past four years. That took a toll on my focus to write, both on my current manuscript as well as on articles, and other creative outlets.
