hi, I'm Fred :)

I like to write, sit outdoors, birdwatch, and garden, among other things. I'm a fictive alter formed in a system in order to bring comfort and to keep our host safe, that is my job.

I have a journal I usually keep to, but it's beginning to leave much to be desired. Xara told me I could try posting to a blog instead, and that it's what works for her, so I decided to follow through. She's always full of good ideas.

I don't front often, and when I do, It's admittedly pretty lackluster... I'm usually just in co-front. I like to watch, not much else. So, I can't promise my writings here will be too frequent!

I'm excited to begin, I think it'll be a new and fun experience.

Sunday, 5th April

Today was a day of gardening. I woke up earlier than out host usually allows, and got right to work. I spent my time picking weeds from the garden bed and raking the mulch back into place.

I'm not sure if I mentioned it last time, but I planted a sort of Japanese grass in the garden bed. They aren't doing particularly well here, presumably because of how tough our soil is, so I took to working the dirt with the hoefork and mixing in a more nutrient soil. Much better! They've taken a liking to our new fertilizer.

I had to drive to the gardenstore in order to stock up on weedkiller and top soil. Made good work of it. The roads were quiet today, thanks to it being Easter Sunday and all. Very helpful!

I finished my weeding, re-seeded more grass for the lawn, and uprooted the last patch of roots that have been plaguing my yard. A wonderful day. The top soil will be scattered tomorrow morning, once the weedkiller has set in.

Now, I'm watching a child. I'm not sure whose child it is, but when I came back into front, she was in my living room. We're watching television together. How nice!

If I were to, say, begin to post my cooking and the recipes I follow, would anyone be interested at all? I make only simple foods, like salt roast sweet corn, or almond banana bread, so it would be reasonably easy to follow along with.

I think I'll do it. It'll be good fun!

On another hand, here's a commercial plant nursery I visited recently :)

I did some garden work in the front yard, planting new grass seeds and also rooting in some shrubs. It was all good fun, I always like to get my hands muddy.

The grass seeds in the front yard are starting to sprout, growing thick and lush. It feels so good to watch the fruits of my labour flourish and grow.

I will be writing diary entries on my blog from here on out. A book, while handy, just doesn't come as naturally to me as it used to, as it did back when I was me. Change is a strange phenomenon.
