The first thing that Y/N became aware of as she slowly regained consciousness was the barely-there light being filtered in through the cloth bag on her head, her face felt clammy from the recycled air she was forced to keep breathing in and out. The strong odour of disinfectant mixed with copper assaulted her nose and she gagged as if she could taste it on her tongue. There was a hum in the air, reminding the woman of being near large machinery, and when she moved her feet she quickly tried to lift them, her toes curling at the slick substance covering them.

Something hard and cold wrapped around her thighs restricted the movement of her legs - it was the same for her wrists. Whatever Y/N was tied to didn’t appear to have a back to it; likely not a chair and it felt too heavy for her to move it even if she struggled.

Her cheeks itched from the rough material over her head, her fingers twitched uselessly in her need to scratch; it was then that Y/N realised the persistent ache in her wrist had extended to her thumb and she remembered the way it had twisted awkwardly earlier. Cold air suddenly swirled around her feet and ankles, stale air from something like a freezer invaded her nostrils - someone had opened a door, that much she could tell.

Another smell accompanied the disinfectant, the blood, the cold air and stale breath, something she could only describe as many animals packed into a small space and fear.

A slaughterhouse.

A thing about comic book covers and movie posters that I’ve always found hilarious is that you have:

Your standard male superhero poses: action shots, brooding shots, typically forward facing, stoic and heroic

Then you have one of your typical female superhero poses: a coy over the shoulder look with plenty of side boob and ass, objectifying and unnecessary

And then you have Bucky Barnes.

Like I know that they do this to show off his arm, but I chose to believe that someone in the graphic design department at Marvel is just extremely horny and needs Bucky’s ass on every poster

Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.

If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.

And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.

So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:

I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."

This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.

If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.

But particularly women, and especially black women.

If you’re like me and have a large gap under your front door (someone could take a stick and just poke the leaning stick style door jam out), I recommend the Addalock. It’s small, perfect for traveling, and this lock is CRAZY. It’s so simple but the door does not move.

You can’t see it from the other side, either. It also cost about $20, and I can’t recommend it enough. Easy to travel with, too! Great for Air BnBs!

That’s why I have these on my doors. They get drilled into the side and once its flipped over the door nothing is getting it open. Not the door being unlocked nothing, I’ve unlocked the door and pulled and pushed as hard as I could and it didn’t budge. When I go on a trip this is what I use and when I’m home I leave it on too. No one is getting in here.

Okay I know that it is necessary for many but what do you do if you need medical attention and you’re not able to open the door from the inside? Can the fire department get through these at least?

Yes. The fire department can and will break down your door if necessary, it’s one of the reasons they have axes; it’s entirely possible for door frames to melt/expand/seize or otherwise become unopenable during a house fire but the door itself can be hacked down. Or the window. In rare cases, the wall. Firefighters don’t fuck around with collateral damage when lives are at stake.

this is just a teaser for a fic i’m unsure if i wanna pursue. it depends on the feedback this drabble receives. so lemme know if you like how i’ve set this up.

Characters: Stever Rogers x Reader x Clark Kent Summary: Rival mob bosses in New York Warnings: (again, this is if i’d continue…) angst, eventual smut, mafia stuff (?)

You knew this day was coming sooner or later. The day when your father’s life would inevitably come to an end, leaving you to fill his shoes.

The family business.

Drug trafficking. Extortion. Money laundering. Killing.

Your two brothers were dimwits. God graced them with the short end of the stick when it came to brains. Though you were the youngest, the baby of the family and the only woman, your father trusted you the most not to run his empire to the ground.

Tears well in your eyes as you cradle your father’s head in your lap and try your best to apply as much pressure as you can to the gunshot wound in his chest.

“Listen to me,” He says softly, voice hoarse and strained. “You have to be strong, baby girl. Remember everything I’ve taught you. Don’t let anyone underestimate you. Especially those two fuckers.”

You struggle to hear every word he says when crimson warmth covers your hands and spills onto your gala gown.

He squeezes your forearm gently and the tears formed finally trail down your cheeks from the corners of your eyes. “I love you. Make me proud. Give ‘em hell.”

He takes his last breath. Shaky and stuttered. His eyes remain open, but they are lifeless. Chest still and hollow.

“Dad?” Your bottom lip trembles and your vision is blurred from despair. “Daddy?” Your voice cracks and you sob, clutching onto his body.

You look like fresh hell. Feel it, too.

The once ivory dress you wear has splotches of blood all over the front. Your makeup is ruined and your hair us mussed. The chilly October air makes goosebumps form on your flesh, but you pay it no mind. You hold on to the metal handrail to get down the steps of the event hall.

You see them across the street standing side by side. Sharply dressed in their Armani and Versace tailors tuxedos. Hair slicked back and beards conditioned to perfection.

Especially those two fuckers.

Your father’s voice rings in your ears. Steve Rogers and Clark Kent. Rivals of your family and each other’s. The Feud goes back at least a hundred years. Maybe more.

Kent owns Staten Island and a quarter of Jersey. Rogers’ territory consists of Brooklyn and the Bronx. Your family name extends over Queens and Manhattan.

Your feet try to drag you to them, but you’re stopped by your brother, Clint. He takes you under his wing, hugging you close. “Don’t,” He shakes his head, holding your face in his palm. “Not here. Not now.”

His best intensions are put forward. He wants to protect you from the trouble you’re bound to get yourself into.

Your neck already feels the weight of the crown now that lies upon your head.

These streets have a new queen.

And she’s out for blood.
