Babies and PHD
It’s been a long time since I have written here, but I used to find it theraputic so thought I would start up again.
I have spent the morning reading blogs from others on studying whilst pregnant, studying whilst having a baby and doing a PHD at the same time as you start having kids. This has been on my mind ever since I went back to uni at the start of last year. I went back with the intention of getting into research, hopefully having a career in research, therefore I will need to complete a masters and a PHD - but that will cross over directly with my child bearing years. If I wait till it’s finished I’ll be about 35, which is fine for some people, but I would like to be done with having the kids by then if possible.
But I am so worried, I dont want to sacrifice either/or, I want to do them both. All of this study can’t be for nothing - I can’t just have babies then go back to retail, NUH UH. And I can’t just be a stay at home mum, I NEED them both! My boyfriend is supportive so that is a start. I am pretty sure I am going to do both. But when is the best time to do it? Maybe during masters? Maybe a year break between finishing my degree and masters? My boyfriend wants to “go with the flow” I dont really know what that is. I don’t think there will be a flow now since I just got Implanon put in my arm for birth control! Haha. Ever since I have done that though, my thoughts on this have just increased - gotta be the way huh?
If anyone reading this has experiences to share please do! I am looking for all the help I can get.
