Dice Goblin Activities #4
Be sure to visit the First Post for general context and disclaimers.
Post got too big cos images, decided to convert a singular "My Dice" posting into a whole series.
Not sponsored or advertisement, though there's a couple sets I endorse the source of.
I forget the exact order when some of them came in but so far the general order of posting is semi-accurate from oldest to newest.
I plan on doing a secondary photoshoot to make them all landscape instead of portrait so they don't push the length of the posts so harshly.
Unlike last post when was mostly full of "meh" except like, the blood spattered hollow dice and the green eyeballs, we're gonna tap into some absolute bangers this time around.
Absolutely one of my favorite sets to date. And most expensive alongside the one below (and like one more I plan on getting in the future when she restocks). I told myself I would cut myself off at 40 bucks or so but when I noticed some venues offer payment plans I was like alright, fuck it. I also literally dreamed about this because it’s one of the most elaborate and meticulously designed sets I had ever seen. And once again, the professional photos make the blood design look a bit darker than they are in real life but I have absolutely no qualms or regrets. They also tossed in a couple of freebies that may not make it in my photo shoots but they involved two unique d6’s and a blue potion bottle d4 which I actually used. This set and the freebies along with them came along like an hour into my Saturday sessions so I was able to put most of it to use right away.
This isn’t a sponsored post but look up “Sinnamon Roll Dice” on Etsy anyway.
I like this set beyond the others because it actually unintentionally seems very Dakota coded, for reasons I don’t necessarily wish to spoil quite yet because I know some of my table reads my blog posts.
From the same vendor as before alongside a little jade piggy they tossed in as a freebie. They’re exactly as advertised which isn’t always the case. Throughout this post I’m always talking about how stuff looks darker in the professional photos while stuff is a hue or two brighter in person, but these are exactly right.
I like these a lot more than I even expected. Honestly these were ordered a WHILE ago, probably even before the whole liquid core post (as I said, "semi accurate") but they came in just before the two above. The cards aren't perfectly in the middle. I know very little about how dice are made but I imagine they were placed in with tweezers or something while the resin was still wet and the cards just kind of did whatever the hell they wanted as the mass allowed and they just settled in wherever, but it still led to some pretty cool visual effects as a result. I've used the d20 and d6 semi often since acquiring them.
These caught my eye in my various dice shopping sprees because I lacked something properly magical/ethereal. An argument could be made for some of the others, but I was aiming for a warlock-y theme. The eyeball core will be fun for a future warlock to use a time or two but I wanted something more generalized to fit the “mood” of some necrotic type. Indeed these are literally called “necrotic teal” and I hope they see some use in the future when I play this Death domain Cleric/plague doctor type character.
There’s some fun stories attached to this set already. One, of this entire series/document, these might be one of the first I ordered in this new age of Dice Goblinism. Like I might have ordered these roughly around the couple of clockwork sets I have but it took them a long time to actually get to me. They’re amazing.
I expected these to just be the old school “put in front of a light for a minute” but nah, these need UV. They came with a small micro USB UV light emitter and it still kinda works if you shove the end of the device into a normal one. It just works. They’re very pretty and they’ll likely see some use in the future, though the d4 will have to go into my caltrop felt bag to protect myself from further stabbings.
They’re also one of my biggest sets to date. I honestly don’t have a lot of interest in those chonker d20’s. Maybe one some day if I can get myself a nerd shelf for conversation starters but ultimately I do kinda buy these things to actually use them. I have this sort of undercurrent goal of getting one set thematic for each class. These will suit a future druid or hell, even my Death cleric while she’s shoving mushrooms into people’s wounds or something.
