I love tumblr because somehow I can end up being mutuals with a celebrity (someone that wrote a fic that I loved)
You ever think about many peices of media have zero women and thats just perfectly normal but if a peice of media has an all female cast people get... like that? Women should be allowed to kill over this btw
I hate that when you’re stressed enough your body just starts falling apart. I think it should realize you’re already stressed and don’t need that and start functioning better actually

"Oh knowing too much about World War II is a red flag" hey I'm begging some of you guys to forget TikTok therapy speak for a moment and go watch a documentary about the politics in the lead-up to WWII. Go watch a documentary about the implementation of the Holocaust. Go watch a documentary about European resistance movements in occupied countries. Hell, go watch an episode of Drain The Oceans that focuses on WWII shipwrecks. You NEED to know how Fascists get into power and what they will do after that happens.
#theres a very particular subset of knowledge about. well any war really#where theyre too busy worshipping the death machine advancements to discuss the actual human lives#(most military aircraft museums ive been to fall into this category)#but the social aspects? the human shit? thats so important to know#you can think tanks are cool. because tbh in a vacuum theyre kinda neat. but if you open with that i will be prying into your sociology
@meraxes-of-new-albion peer reviewing your tags because yeah you get it.
I think part of the problem is also that people hear 'WWII history knowledge' and immediately associate it with the 'worshipping-the-death-machine-advancements' branch of irritating history buffs, but if you write off all WWII history like that, you'll miss things like how Fascism smooths over power hierarchy disagreements by constantly pushing the 'remember, it's us against them' line. You'll miss resistance stories of Dutch schoolgirls luring Nazis into the woods to a waiting anti-fascist with a gun or of Norwegian freedom fighters sabotaging the Nazi nuclear programme or of Allied planes that survived direct hits to the fuel tank because Czech slaves made empty shells with no explosives inside. You'll write off the ghastly things done in concentration camps as horror stories from another time and not recognise them as Real Things done to Real People that were justified on the grounds of pure vitriolic hatred and allowed to continue by others' sheer apathy. And you will not know how to recognise it when it begins building momentum in your own country.
The Fascists want you to be apathetic. They want you to shut off your ears and look the other way. They want you to be so removed from the idea of Fascism beyond a red swastika armband on a 1940s soldier that they can roll out their hateful regime stealthily while you only protest the flashy meant-to-be-offensive parts.
Learn what it looks like and what it intends to do. Don't let your annoyance at that one Operation Sealion buff you met on, like, fuckin' Tinder blind you to the realities of how Fascism actually operates.
Bringing this post back to recommend a 10-part documentary on Netflix for anyone who hasn't seen it - it's called "Hitler's Circle Of Evil" and the reason I think you should watch it is because it dives deep into the political workings of the inner circle of the third reich, but also it will make you realise that the nazis were human. They were all human. And that's important, because we need to remember that the evil they committed is not something beyond any of us. We cannot 'other' evil, because if we do, we will not know how to fight it within ourselves.
You will find yourselves taking sides in fights between Goebbels and Göring. And then you will remember "oh, right, you might be human, but you're also fucking evil".
The two are not mutually exclusive.
Trump's name removed from Kennedy Center following court order: DOJ
A judge had given the administration until noon Saturday to remove the name.
The Justice Department filed a certification in federal court one hour before a judge's Saturday noon deadline that said President Donald Trump's name has been "removed" from "all physical signage on the Kennedy Center building and grounds."
The Trump administration had made a last-minute request to ask the court to step in and block the removal of Trump’s name ahead of a deadline of midnight Friday.
A judge had given the Trump administration until noon Saturday to remove the name.
A photographer from AP News still got the shot >:]
Imagine being the people taking his name down, that had to have been scary knowing the MAGA karens might target you if they knew who you were.
Plus considering how hot it was the day they did it and the angle of the sun, I wonder if it would have been put up anyways, that kind of work is pretty sweaty and hot on its own without adding in almost a hundred degrees of Fahrenheit and sunburn.
text: [ “Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5000 years.” ]
And they're absolutely specifically pushing it, make no mistake. It's not just a matter of "it's there, it's convenient, so people are going to take the path of the least resistance", it is a legitimate and concerted effort on the part of these companies to get people to outsource all these things to their models.
They're preying on insecurities to do it. Yes, you can write an essay - but can you write a good essay, they ask you. Do you not want to improve your output? Do you not want people to think of you as competent and very clever? Why go through the mortifying process of failing and failing and failing until you succeed if you can just skip the "learning" part of doing, and simply generate a ready-made product?
I'm preaching to the choir here obviously but it's a concerning thing to witness nonetheless. My kid is 6 next week and I've been teaching her that failing at things is morally neutral and in fact necessary even before the advent of AI, but it's becoming ever more important that we teach the kids that criticism and failure and discomfort aren't necessarily bad things, but just a part of the growth process.
AI companies are heavily invested in making themselves relevant. They want people to believe they can't do the things they have done unaided before and to make them become reliant on the AI models, so the AI models' existence is artificially justified.

God I fucking love being a monk at the Monastery of Lindisfarne on this fine morning of June 8th, 793. I love looking at all the gold and silver objects and alive monks that live here.
