It’s the simple things; like the sun outside your window, the birds in the trees, the happiness in your heart; that give life meaning. Breathe. Take notice.

Upon entering Arches National Park in Utah, one of the first hiking trails you encounter is the Park Avenue trail. Named after the Manhattan street lined with skyscrapers, this easy trail is lined with dramatic red rock formations. With views of Courthouse Towers (its walls look like the façade of an imposing building), the Three Gossips (one of them likes to comment on hikers’ shoes) and Sheep Rock (yes, it looks like a sheep), the Park Avenue trail is a great introduction to Arches. We hope to see you there. Don’t forget a bottle of water and sense of imagination. Photo by National Park Service.
What a view! The vast, wild landscape of Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area offers visitors incredible opportunities to experience the bold thrills and serene moments. With over 120,000 acres in Montana and Wyoming and more than 10,000 years of human history to explore, visitors can hike 28 miles of trails, hunt, fish and camp to their heart’s delight. Wildlife in the park includes bighorn sheep, wild horses, coyotes, mule deer, snakes, small mammals, mountain lions, bears and more than 200 bird species. We hope you have plenty of time! Dragging yourself out of bed to greet the sunrise takes determination. Yet rising early ensures an exhilarating experience, especially at Haleakalā National Park in Hawaii. The summit of Haleakalā is a wahi pana - a legendary place. To see the sunrise from the 10,000-foot summit of Mount Haleakala takes some preplanning and a reservation made through recreation.gov. But as you watch the sun slowly make its way above the clouds, bathing everything in a wash of warm hues, you realize there’s no better way to welcome the day. It’s an incredible opportunity to watch the barren but colorful volcanic landscape come to life. Photo by Jeff Nigro (www.sharetheexperience.org).
