I feel like some people kvetching about CyberWorld’s toys can’t appreciate the simplicity of the weapon customization and just not being very imaginative.

There’s a fair bit you can so with these guys alone.

I call the Gerwalk Bee one the Hive Cannon with Chop Shop.

Sky-Byte now has the Ultimate Anchor Arm.

I keep calling this configuration Tuning Megatron because Chop Shop’s mandibles on their own make me think of a tuning fork.

Commish for @thebigboy71 featuring Etemon's past careers before sliding into evil.

In the Zone version of events, while Etemon does resurface as a reoccurring antagonist once again in the Network, having now Digivolved to KingEtemon, during Adventure, he's treated as more of a 9-5 villain who is actually pretty chill and more of a doting eccentric uncle. This is based on fandom observations that suggest they saw him as more of an ally that was simply on the wrong side for how goofy he was compared to the other villains, ... despite the fact Etemon is a more traditional cartoon villain who just enjoys being bad, but I do see the logic, hence my using of it here. Plus, besides Adventure: doing something similar, Etemon in other ancillary media tends to be more friendly, so even Bandai/Toei seems to have recognized this also.

This bit is also partly inspired by a joke in the old fan fic "Ticketed Items Only", an alternate telling of the Adventure story after they defeated Myotismon. While the fic did have a serious story in mind (one plot beat involved Matt discovering an extinct race of Digital Humans similar to Gennai and the DigiDestined having to fight a new villain with the power to mutate other Digimon into more destructive Digimon), it was largely forth wall breaking and jovial, having custom Digivolutions like "SonicBirdramon" and a reoccurring AOSTH Wes Weaselly type Digimon called Retailmon that assisted the DigiDestined with their current situation.

The beginning of the story would reveal Etemon had faked his death when fighting MetalGreymon, and became a Bob Ross like weatherman, much happier in his new life. That fic was a big inspiration for how Zone came to be, so bringing it back around was inevitable.

Eleven: They WERE bad men, Ronnie. I’m not proud of it, but we all do weird things when we’re 11 years old.

JD: Well I didn’t kill him, but I hospitalized a dick picking on Lucas, Danny-Boy, Will, Joey and Dustin once.

Veronica: God give me strength.

Braverman: I shot a Hawkins Labs bad man in the head with a potato gun once when that attack in the mall happened. It hit him in the neck just right and killed him. I’m not proud of it either but-

JD: It was a complete accident, but I’ve never been so proud. -wipes away a tear-

Veronica: Ugh I need a drink.

Will: -hands her a Jack Daniel’s he was nursing-

Wanted to do something for Pride Month, but due to comm work and personal matters, it wound up happening later than planned.

Settled on fleshing out Braverman and JD in the Energon portion of the Unicron Trilogy.

Unlike the Heathers/Stranger Things AU, they’re a gay couple, but it’s not a big focus either.

Braverman and Heather (who is bi-curious with Veronica) are Billy’s cousins, with Billy turning out to be a closeted gay man by Energon and started dating Fred (who’s gained more self confidence and become more buff since Armada, tho he gets fat again by Cybertron lol). The two of them being gay is low hanging fruit, but I wanted something for them to do besides working in Energon construction and engineering during the alternative energy boom of this period.

The main non human gay rep among the Transformers are Slugslinger and Sharkticon and Getaway and Dogfight (the later two I haven’t designed yet as of typing).

The comic itself was inspired by an odd comment on Twitter relating to Transformers. It was meant to be a bit more involved with the Energon Saber team, Rad, Billy, Fred also working out with Ariel and Kicker. Heather was to be riding lazily in the back of Ironhide drinking a soda, yelling at her cousins and the other boys through a mega phone, only for Ariel to chastise both of them and make them run laps too. Dion was straggling like Braverman, not used to a lot of physical activity either.

Some Lotus AU lore:

Most cryptids are actually Terrans that were born before the Maltobots. So something like Mothman? It's a Terran.

Nightshade makes the cryptid=most likely Terran discovery when they travel around the world later in my AU.

I like to think in that context, a Mothman Terran would be one of the Insectrons from Beast Wars II.

The Point Pleasant bridge being destroyed wasn’t even the Terran’s fault, it was an early Decepticon attack before humans were aware of Transformers, and blamed it on the creature they thought they saw in the wreckage.

When the Autobots and Decepticons became more common place, this unusual Insecticon allied with the Autobots to protect Point Pleasant and salvage his image.

It never actually comes up he’s a Terran until the Maltos bring it up to the Autobots’ shock.

I wish we got more nuanced and earnest attempts and understanding gender/identity from a cybertronian perspective. A lot of fanworks do (and i love that!) And it makes me wish official tf media would do so.

It’s probably for the best they don’t, and not because it’s a bad idea, but because general audiences refuse to engage with this.

Nightshade became a pariah during to THOSE channels when it was mentioned they were enby, and parents then refused to let their kids engage with it. We need kids to be engaged with Transformers, and if they’re blocked from it by elders in this way, that’s a killing blow.

IDW also largely shot itself in the foot with Trans Arcee and the need to overcorrect it. It was already a shaky idea both sides thought was dumb, so trying to fix it only made it worse. Especially when the original idea was Arcee being forced to change genders thanks to Jhiaxus doing it for skrud and giggles.

Mae Catt’s only lament in EarthSpark being she couldn’t bring in Trans Arcee also feels in bad taste considering how thoroughly unpopular the idea was. Not to mention, EarthSpark was unable to really follow thru on any sense of identity (at least how online fans claim they wanted it). Nightshade already seemed to know what they were, so the later “epiphany” felt rushed and incredibly unearned. Jawbreaker’s deal flip flopped from being a trans/gay allegory to him being too particular about what shirt he wanted to wear.

Nightshade and Jawbreaker’s inability to Transform was too similar, with both being cosplayers in the end, arguably Jaws bding more of a “fur suit” so to speak if you want to go that direction.

The one thing EarthSpark did right was have Optimus warmly accept Nightshade, which I do think is a good thing for queer kids to see. So it’s a good thing, but the writers either can’t articulate it properly or they’re wrapped up in BSNP tape, stunting it more.

It’s simply easier to do this in fan work, and even then I prefer keeping it PG, no “porn” with the humans or Transformers.

It’s much easier to have humans be the example Transformers see, if they’re not fully aware of romantic relationships in general depending on the story. Grahm & Thompson or Braverman & JD being their particular exposure to gay romance.

Even then for both it’s pretty innocent kissing, cuddling, holding hands. Grahm & Thompson have cuddled and made out on Bumblebee’s hood as a reference to the first Bay film.

Braverman & JD are openly gay, and even help try to articulate it to S1/2 Will Byers when they meet him, but some of the humor with it is they try to have sex off screen during down time but gets interrupted. Some of the Powerlinx Autobots remark about top vs bottom (in their context) and bring it up in relation to stuff they’ve heard about the boys, and ask an embarrassed JD why he seems to prefer being on the bottom. (The Autobots innocently picture it as JD giving Braverman a piggy back ride, not realizing it’s sex).

The Energon AU does have a married couple who flirt when Powerlinxing, tho they’re a heterosexual couple in Outback & Cindersaur. A gay couple in that context would be Getaway & Dogfight who more playfully henpeck each other, but otherwise function like Outback & Cindy. There’s no “gay voice” or mannerisms. I hate that. It’s the same for Veronica & Heather in Energon, that’s right DukeSaw exists in Transformers fanon.

So to me, until things cool off politically, it’s simply easier to do this stuff in fan work. CyberWorld isn’t going to have Bumblebee question if he’s a girl or not, but he probably might have some form of body dysmorphia given his current situation with the off road and giant forms he can take.

Elita Prime's so-called upgrade is just someone slapping a wing on her back and some TF fans would call that peak design...

Hasbros and Transformers fandom continues to perpetrate same old boring ass designs for female Transformers with just pink, pink, pink... We can't get nice thing for female Transformers in 2026.

There’s a couple of layers to this admittedly.

I believe the change being minimal is meant to deliberately reference Hot Rod becoming Rodimus, and all he gets primarily is wrinkles in Robot Mode.

Even her Vehicle Mode evokes the space Winnebago by being her motorcycle form with a trailer attached to evoke a jet.

Elita upgrading into a space plane might a reference to her Power of the Primes toy.

To complain she’s drawn as spindly is absurd when artists in the series have drawn her more muscular looking.

The problem is it’s not as consistent, but having her more buff like on the right would probably be seen as preferable from both certain factions views and for toy purposes.

Arcee Magnus is also drawn fairly buff and chunky so I feel like certain factions are splitting hairs just to complain Arcee and Elita aren’t stock side shaved lesbian coded MOTU: R Teela for some reason.

I’m not really sure what you can do about the pink colorations. Both characters were designed to be pink. Elita has been experimented with more maroon colors before, but she’s still predominantly pink even in IDW.

They tried making Arcee blue in Prime, but that ultimately didn’t stick and made her more like Chromia to me. That’s not bad exactly but it’s always been more “Huh why didn’t they just stick with Chromia over Arcee. Heck Firestar could work well here too for Jack.”

I think the one thing people aren’t grasping is in an era where Hasbro is pretty insistent, post 80’s movie, the Prime lineage begins and ends with Optimus, that the Matrix going to somebody else and making them Prime is a rather ballsy move.

We finally get another non Optimus … er Prime after Rodimus (and the one time they experimented with Optimal Optimus Primal), and just like in 1986, fans lost their collective minds and booed, hissed and threw furniture ala the Peter Griffin meme.

So all it winds up proving is when fans say they want a new Prime, they’re lying. Optimus could’ve passed on the Matrix to Cliffjumper and people would still react poorly.

Now granted some of the outrage is stock “Stronk Wah-Man” rhetoric, but funny enough, people didn’t do this to Arcee Magnus. Most of the complaints were more rational in that we never got to see what she had to go through to upgrade into a Magnus. People are much more onboard with Arcee but Magnus isn’t as intrusive as a rank (nor is it consistently depicted as one).

I stand by people would’ve been much more angry and openly celebrated IDW had they depicted its grouchy Elita and Pyra Magna as stealing the Matrix from Optimus there and evolving into a Prime. That certain writers never did that with Pyra specifically is honestly impressive restraint because you know somebody would’ve tried that.

Not to mention, Elita was functionally a Prime being the leader of her colony, and she turned into a truck there (albeit maybe due to artist error since her concept art is a space car), so hmm. Halfway there.

Still Skybound Elita is going to be a poked hornets nest no matter what. The staff have strongly suggested her getting the Matrix is setting her up for a big (presumably partly humbling) fall. Perhaps proving Optimus, despite it all, was making the better calls in the end. We also have Hot Rod on Cybertron now, and with Kirkman liking Rodimus, the chain of succession could be Optimus to Elita to Rodimus here if things go a certain direction.

Plus, Optimus tends to get Re-Primed anyway, so anyone still cranky about Elita or Rodimus pry have little to worry about.

The problem instead might be how they approach an Elita Prime outside of Skybound, but fan reactions are only justifying the ludicrous “Apology Tour” Hasbro is currently doing with the 86 movie…

Continuing a wacky series about Wolfang finding himself in various misadventures where, like Waspinator and Wile E. Coyote, he's able to shrug off the worst of it.

The initial idea was just Megatron fighting Wolfang and crushing him into a cube, but I added the narrative that Wolfang was outed as a spy to give Megatron more of a reason, lol.

In Japanese media, Wolfang is both a Maximal and a Predacon due to a funny quirk. The original toy was released as "Howlinger", while a red repaint for the Telemocha re-release line retained the original name Wolfang, but reclassified him as a Predacon.

Some obscure media, to reconcile this quirk, casts Wolfang as a spy depending on the scenario, so I went with a similar idea, where he was working for the Maximals, and tried infiltrating the Predacons. Besides his colors changing, and a flimsy claim he's a coyote rather than a wolf, in Robot Mode, his "Mutant Head" retracted to reveal his normal robot face.

The Wolfang series is its own thing where it bounces between stuff like Beast Wars II and the American series, but the general idea of Wolfang as a Double Spy was a reoccurring plot point in an IDW Beast Wars AU I toy with on occasion, so this slides fairly neatly into that.

(Iguanus, Retrax, Terragator join the Predacons in the AU which is why Iguanus is here in particular, with the later two being Skold's attempts at making her own group from Protoforms).

Just caught up with the latest Skybound Transformers (2023) issue. 

Lowkey kind of upset that I was out of the loop with Transformers-related stuff because why did no one tell me that Thundercracker (TC) is finally an Autobot?? 

I definitely caught the hints from earlier issues that he wasn't fully supportive of what the Decepticons were doing, but I didn't think the (new) writers would stick with that and actually have him defect. 

I think a lot of people were waiting for a story where TC would finally leave the Decepticons and join the other side bc his '80s original bio said he wasn't fully supportive of his own side and tended to question their actions. Despite how interesting this little character trait was, given the resulting character arcs and stories it could've led to, future writers never fully followed up on it.

But to finally see a group of writers realize the potential of that kind of storyline and make it a reality... is surprising to a degree. I sincerely hope that these writers don't chicken out and make him return to the Decepticons because that would be such lazy writing.

Unless a different writer later on gets ideas for him to defect, I don’t think we have to worry at the moment.

Look like he’s joining the Aerialbots full time!

And honestly after Armada Starscream, the only Jet you can get away with this is ultimately Thundercracker.

Which is also doubly funny since Armada Starscream’s later recolors were Thundercracker in US markets so they kinda had it both ways back then.

Now I’m not expecting BW Dinobot level writing here since the Autobots largely seem fine with TC, but Skybound also entertaining TC as having more going on beyond just being the “Blue Starscream” is refreshing. Especially so considering how he was an expendable mook in Cyberverse & replaced in EarthSpark with Nova Storm (who also became expendable) because the staff really wanted female Thundercracker, but Hasbro said NO.

I have these atm, which are meant for a commission where the Autobots and kids attend an alien party as a means to include most of the Autobots but not individually. Powelinx being a handy out if someone can form the pants.

And as mentioned before, Tailgate is on top lol, poor Windcharger.

Rodimus with Swoop is part of a comic only thing where Grimlock and Swoop can combine with others, but only others in their size range, so Swoop can Powerlinx with Hot Shot, Rodimus, Street Pizza, Ariel, Dion, Downshift, Tailgate, Windcharger, and so forth, while Grimlock gets Ironhide, Jetfire, Outback, FireCycle and so forth.

Grimlock can only be the top and Swoop the bottom tho, since the toys never made an official reversal for either.

Kup and Roulette are part of a set of character models I haven’t posted yet, but Kup being carried by a younger woman was a funny image. He also likes how he looks in heels. I considered making Roulette more feminine in this form to make the gag more obvious but decided against it for now.

I’ve also been considering more flyers besides Swoop for Team Sherwood since Slingshot & Alpha Bravo of Defensor Maximus & the Skyblasts don’t appear much, though Kranix serves as an on and off Omnicon type representative, and I wanted somebody that flies for the Hot Shot size class.

So far I’ve toyed with Getaway (extensive Hot Shot retool), possibly Tracks, Meteorfire, or Dogfight (G1 Triggerbots would work well having Energon weapons).

I think it’ll be safer to say Carly becomes a Targetmaster or Headmaster to Arcee, Spike goes Cerebros/Fort Max (or either teen becomes a head or gun for Shredhead for that matter).

Chip Chase appears either in his traditional role or he’s a GI Joe operative. Funnier if he’s MASK or VENOM as another instance of a prominent character switching sides in this universe.

Pretender technology is based on Cobra-La similar to Devil’s Due’s TF universe. This may not be far off since they do apply a form of Pretender tech in the Cobra Commander series for Nemesis Enforcer.

Tracks & Raoul join MASK.

Volcanicus is part of the deal when the Dinobots appear, meaning we have an extra member specific to Skybound which will either be Skar like in the Legacy toyline, a repurposed Scowl, Scorn, et al, or Skybound’s second proper long running original character.

The Star Brigade stuff from GI Joe appears, a post I’ve got in the making wound up becoming true anyway because Predacon, now Predacron, is set to appear in Void Rivals, so I’m two for two.

Now to see if they indulge in Scramble City type stuff, and Thundercracker becomes a leg for a thunder stomp/kick attack.

The Field Guardians are a new concept I made up to be a parallel to the Dark Masters in the Digimon Zone version of Adventure. The purpose of Zone is to tell a different story from the canon one, being the equivalent to Archie Sonic, Marvel G1 Transformers and the Xros Wars manga, among other things, to have the same bones but go a different direction to make it distinct. So naturally, when the time comes to go to Tamers Zone, the Zoners and Adventure kids recount a completely different story to Takato and the others, lol. Don't believe everything you hear on TV comes up a lot for them, lol.

The Field Guardians represent the same Fields the Dark Masters do, and were once mighty Digimon that protected their respective areas from threats. The Dark Masters, however, proved to be too much in their take over once the DigiDestined left for the Real World after Myotismon, and the Guardians had no choice but to wait for the DigiDestined & Zoners to reinstall them. (The original Sovereign lore for Zone is a drastically different, with the 02 era kids on a direct mission to find them in place of the majority of the Destiny Stone arc).

MarineAngemon was the first to be freed after MetalSeadramon and his rival Pukumon were dealt with. UltimateBrachiomon was what I ultimately went with for a Machinedramon counterpart, since he looked cooler, with the early idea being Cannondramon for the role. U-Brachiomon had more of a Kaiju fighting MechaGodzilla vibe I wanted.
