Maybe they're not sure how to make his speech formal and poetic in English. Also they didn't pay attention when reading his dialogue. Someone started it and everyone else followed suit, i guess, in the way fandoms tend to do

I love how the father-son dynamic of Ging and Gon is so unlike the usual shounen trope:

Ging abandoned Gon when he was young —> common trope. BUT he didn’t abandon him because of a trauma or anything, he’s just an irresponsible dude who isn’t made for child rearing.

Gon wants to know his father and set out on a quest to find him —> common trope. BUT they ended up not having any big emotional scene nor did they have a legendary fight. They just had fun for a few days and ended up parting again, and they even kept contact with each other.

Ging is a well-known and well-respected in the Hunter community —> common trope. BUT he is also well-known as a deadbeat dad and everyone criticized him for that. Nobody taunted Gon for having been abandoned either.

Gon didn’t know his mother —> common trope. BUT she was never revealed to be an important person, came back to save him from his evil father or something like that. Mito-san is 100% Gon’s mother.
