Daemon: War is bad. Unlike many of the men of the realm itching for combat, I actually have been to war and I really don't feel like doing it again. I think we should do our best to end this conflict with diplomacy, and possibly a little assassination, in order to avoid a war. Especially a war pitting dragons against dragons. I've read extensive histories of the wars of Valyria and I'm saying right now, we should do our very best to avoid outright combat both on land and in the sky.

Do people really hear the nonsense they're spouting? The Targaryens don't force anyone into brother-sister marriages. They even marry people from other houses more often. Rhaenyra and Daemon's union, on the other hand, actually falls within the norms of Westeros society as a whole, where marriages between cousins, uncles and nieces, or nephews and aunts exist and are common. Rhaenyra isn't a victim of any manipulation from her family. And not from Daemon either. He was absent for almost the entirety of her life. She probably saw him a few times between the ages of one and seven, since he lived a large part of his life with his wife, and when he wasn't there, he traveled. And when Rhaenyra was little, he had no interest in her. There was zero manipulation. When he courted her, she was 14, an age when she could be courted, and no, he didn't do anything sexual with her either. Unless you take the words of Mushroom, a notorious sex fiend, and Eustace, a Green supporter who was already spreading rumors about Rhaenyra's sexuality before Daemon's return, as the ultimate proof, in which case it will quickly become clear that you're not actually interested in the likely truth. Rhaenyra wasn't a victim of anything. She was completely in control of her relationship with Daemon. She have agency. Victimizing her isn't the feminist movement you think it is.

It's 2026 and GRRM's favorite Targaryen is still being willfully misunderstood by the community that claims to love and understand his work. It's depressing.

Daemon was banished from a moment when Rhaenyra was 9. He was banished when she was 7. A time when he was officially with Mysaria, spending his time either working or traveling. And no, giving your niece gifts when you return from a trip isn't grooming.

Daemon deflowered young Maidens not little girls when he was in his twenties, women who were probably 17 when you think for two seconds about the historical context.

Something he wasn't known for during passed that period. No trace of it when he returned from his banishment and courted Rhaenyra, when he was married to Laena, or when he married Rhaenyra. Even when he was with Mysaria, he secluded himself with her for a year on Dragonstone before being banished by Viserys for daring to... want to acknowledge his future son with a dragon egg? And no, Daemon in the book didn't take Viserys's dead child's egg. He took a normal egg.

We have no idea if Daemon actually mocked his dead nephew since that was reported by Otto.

If Daemon is a child killer, I hope the same is said of Aemond? The one who spilled blood first? Daemon only sought revenge and bloodshed. Not that it's right. But it's ironic that his worst act (killing a child) is precisely a response to something done to him first: killing his stepson, whom he had spent 10 years raising.

✋️ first of all you are wrong , second of all westros was based off of medieval europe where there was no clear succession law and it differs from region to region for example spain had many queens who ruled in their right , while england did have queens it was much later and many kings had claim to the throne by thier mother , and french had salic law where woman cannot rule nor from descendants from her line . So there is no clear law defining if a woman can rule in westros it just differs from region to region , like the dornish also have andal blood but do they follow the andal law , no because they are not andals and as simple as that targaryen are not andals they are valeryon, both rhaenyra and aegon are half andal but at the end of the day they are both targaryen by blood , so no aegon does not have thousands of andal law protecting him because he is not an andal.

Tbf, while I understand the point, following this argument, Joffrey should also be absolved from everything he does on the basis of being 12 at the start of the (book) series and 13 when he dies. Not saying it does, but "they're a child" is simply a gross oversimplification especially in the setting of ASOIAF where people out of necessity and societal conventions have to grow up much quicker than 21st century teenagers.
