Hey hey hey, it's YouTube video day.
This is a video about an almost forgotten game from my childhood. One that puts ancient Greece against ancient Rome in a way that would give my Latin teacher an aneurysm.
The mid-2000s were a wonderfully creative time for game studios, and Spartan: Total Warrior was an action-focused experiment by the studio behind Total War.
Huge thanks to everyone who's watched this and joined the anti-Archimedes gang.
The Islamic Republic of Japan. Holy, brain mush.
Should Gaelic/Scots become a mandatory school subject?
That plus a foreign language should be mandatory. I think it would improve attainment levels across the board.
Wait, does the Scottish school system not currently have a foreign language as standard part of the curriculum?
I mean I guess Switzerland is in a very different position since we have four national languages, but I kind of expect every country's school system to mandatorily teach at least one language 🤔

Step into the ultimate open-world witch adventure. Befriend and battle creatures, and conjure up a sanctuary alongside other witches in co-o
Incredibly proud to say that Witchspire is now available in Early Access. This game has been a joy to work on for the past year, the team are amazing and have such cool plans ahead for the game.
In Witchspire, you create your own Witch, choose a coven and explore a magical world with your friends, building your own sanctuary and befriending creatures.
It's available now on Steam with a 15% discount for launch.
Horrible.
right there with you in the "it is 10 degrees too fucking hot" trenches 🥵
Generally speaking, I don’t think a lot of people are aware of how difficult and taxing it is to port a game to consoles.
Like a lot of games I work on and make videos about are going to be coming to Steam, and that’s because it’s infinitely easier to make games for PC.
And I appreciate how it’s just out of excitement and desire, but if an indie game made by 3 people announces at a showcase - it is extremely unlikely that it’ll be launching simultaneously on consoles unless it has publisher backing and/or investment.
Very few indie teams will have the experience to port a game in-house, fewer will have the contacts and the hardware that makes it a whole lot easier.
And every indie dev genuinely wants to have as many players play their game as possible. It’s just a bit silly when folk assume it’s developer laziness as to why an open-world early access title isn’t doing early-access on Xbox too.
for full scottish independence, you'd want a president, right? because it's not just independence from english parlinent, it's the monarchy, too.
I get where you’re coming from, and I do support a Scottish republic, but it’s not like Commonwealth countries aren’t independent.
Also presidents are not the only viable form of non-monarchy government??? have people never heard of Councils ajsdhfsj
Love the ‘Walk to MetLife Stadium for the World Cup’ discourse because it’s a mixture of European travellers going ‘ah fuck it we’ll just walk across the interstate’ like it’s a casual stroll while a bunch of US folks are saying ‘Our infrastructure is terrible and you all need to pay the deliberately inflated public transport costs’.
I feel like if the infrastructure isn’t there then you shouldn’t be hosting the World Cup.
french is all well and good to learn once you've got the basics of grammar and verbs down etc., however. there is one final hurdle and it wants to kill you. numbers.

Supernatural writers were incels, right?
I’m (sadly) on season 13 now, and I’d sorta expect a bit of a feminist shake up of how certain characters were portrayed, and certain lines in the script. Especially a show that started in 2005 and persisted through 2010s.
But no, every woman in the show is called a bitch at least once before they get murdered. Any woman who gets to be in more than two episodes is always unceremoniously killed off and forgotten about by the next episode.
Now having to deal with the petulant teen anti-Christ and the only thing keeping me going is the promised scooby doo episode.
Someone on Tumblr once pointed out that the 2 female characters who lasted more than a couple episodes were:
Charlie (Felicia Day) who was a lesbian
Jo (IIRC?) who was a little girl when she first appeared and then was merc'd as an adult
Basically, this Tumblr user pointed out, any woman who was seen as a potential love interest was killed off very quickly. The literal child and the lesbian were the only ones allowed to remain (for a while at least). Charlie wasn't killed off at least...
There was also some discussion about demon possession and the lack of consent that, once it was pointed out, really turned me off to the series. Gosh I wish I could remember those posts. They were very insightful.
Charlie wasn't killed off at least
Yes she was. Not only was she killed off, she died brutally.
The writers HATED having a huge female audience for their manly man show. No female characters are spared.
Tone is hard to read over the internet but that came off as pretty aggressive... Sorry I got that detail wrong, the last episode I ever watched was the Wizard of Oz where I thought she went off into the sunset.
As you can probably infer I don't care much for the series so I wasn't watching for Charlie's ultimate end.
My aggression was 100% directed towards the writers. I did not mean this to come off as aggressive towards you, I should have made my tone clearer. I'm sorry.

sure! Personally, for me, my wool mattress significantly reduces dislocations while I sleep, but I’m someone who benefits more from a firmer mattress. (The primary reason I have one is a severe dust mite allergy. Dis
Joy it looks like your post got cut off before you were done?
Me: eh kinda an annoying take, I mean I get being generally mad at Americans but many of us are genuinely trying to do something about it, and while im no lover of the democrats it is good that they are trying to do something even if its futile.
The most annoying american on tumblr: something about Scottish independence being an Iranian psyop???
Me: well. Maybe this proves aye's point a bit
I think a lot of Americans are not used to the level of serious criticism from outside the US that we’re seeing January now. To the point it genuinely gets to some of them on a deeply personal level whenever they seeing anything online.
Would I take a democrat president over what we have now, absolutely. Would it improve anything if they don’t fundamentally look at the system the country is built on? No it will not.
The whole world is being impacted by US policy at the moment. There’s not really much sympathy to go around, and some Americans really do pounce on any criticism levelled at their country.
Funny to rope Iran into the conversation when the US and Israel are busy committing war crimes there. You’d think they’d want to steer away from that.
It's really hilarious to watch them lose their mind in the notes. Everywhere you look on the internet it's full of everything US. US politics are inescapable on tumblr, bsky, reddit etc. Every US american constantly expects every single person they interact with to understand Fahrenheit and inches and whatever the fuck. Someone asks for advice on reddit and half the responses are giving US-specific legal adivce. If anything in the post is un-US-like, half the responses are saying "sounds fake to me" because obviously US experiences are universal. Someone posts about their local politics on bsky and the USAmericans chime in with irrelvant bullshit.
USAmerican politics is fucked and they elect a fucking monster whose actions have global impact (tariffs alone have threatened whole national industries, nevermind the rest.)
BUT GODS FORBID WE HAVE OPINIONS ON US POLITICS THO.

Love how supernatural writers can’t help but continue to ramp up Dean’s sexual comments.
Like at the start it very obvious references to busty Asians but in later seasons Sam will say something perfectly legitimate about the task at hand and Dean will respond with something like “Yeah? Well I want to wear a Zorro mask and get pegged by a woman with fat heavy tits.”
it's the pent up sexual frustration from repressing his feelings for castiel
