There is so much more to this discussion than simply canceling student debt. Why are students cajoled into paying for degrees that have no real job prospects? Why is one year's tuition more than you will make your first year out of college? What about all those people who work in the student loan servicing industry? If the debt is canceled, so are their jobs. What about those people who chose to find a way to pay for school that didn't include borrowing ? You do realize that tuition have fees at most universities have outpaced inflation by at least 3 times? Why is that?

The student loan services, the lenders and all the others in the industry have a huge lobby, the suggestion to cancel student debt was a ploy to induce the under 30's to vote. It was nothing else.

Paid for my tuition working multi jobs, also helped my kids pay theirs, no debt. Now as taxpayer I pay for others who used loan for rent, cars, etc? Total BS

First of all, Kristen (@sodangfancy22) appears to be a troll that is now operating under @sodangfancy100.

Second, in my opinion, it is "Total BS" to consider the Federal Budget "your" money, because you paid taxes, as if that gives you a right to say what happens with it.

A) You do have a right to say what happens with it. You exercise that right by voting for Congress and the President. That's how you influence the process.

B) Your taxes are your annual membership dues to be a part of society. You pay them for the services you get. It ends being "your" money that you have direct control over the moment you pay your taxes.

Imagine that you get upset at your baker because you paid money for the loaf of bread he provided you with, only to spend that money on a nicer life than you have. It's just as silly.

Will you be upset that you work hard and spend an extra dollar on a lottery ticket but the jackpot goes to someone who got a ticket from a dollar they got from a schollarship?

One shouldn't be envious of the fortune of others just because one suffered through the misery of the system. It's the unjust system one should be upset with and work to change for the greater good.
