hearing chloes voice, max shook her head; coming back to reality. what she had just seen, the nightmare, it was so real so terrible it made her shutter to think about it. âthis is my storm, i caused this.. i caused all of thisâ the brunette started looking out at arcadia bay as the waves crashed against the shore line. what had she done? âi changed fate and destiny so much that⌠i actually did alter the course of everything. all i really created was death and destruction.â
looking up at her best friend, she saw the look in her eyes. the fear, the emotion. max wanâted to grab her and shake her, tell her that everything was going to be okay; but this time she wasnât so sure if it was. as chloe spoke max felt tears brim in her eyes. she had done this for chloe. she had saved chloe and she didnât regret a second of it.
turning her head to the small town of arcadia bay, max felt a surge of emotion. guilt, sadness, happiness, love. she had come back arcadia, not sure of what she was going to find. but she found chloe. chloe, the girl she had saved, the girl who broke into blackwell in the middle of the night, the girl she used to play pirates with, the girl she loved. taking the photo out of the blunettes hand, she looked down at it. âi - i feel like i took this shot a thousand years agoâ she admitted looking up at the taller girl, unsure of what she was about to say.
before chloe could even explain herself, max stopped her. âfuck that! no.. no way. you are my number one priority nowâ she told her, turning around to the girl placing her hands on her shoulders so she could really see her. in all this mess, after everything they had gone through, max would not give up chloe not for anything. âyou are all that matters to me.â
Chloe couldnât bare to hear Max blame herself for this - what she had done was selfless - completely and utterly selfless while Chloe had been bitchy, mean, selfish. She had spent the whole week doing what she wanted, testing Maxâs boundaries and powers. She mightâve fallen hard for the brunette but in no way would ever be worthy enough of her feelings returned. Chloe could never be someone that anyone would be proud of, that anyone would want or would put first. She knew that her life had already run its course and this was death ready to catch up with her.
âYou could use that photo to change everything.â She said, her voice small and held a vulnerability she hadnât had since her dad died. Change everything, more like fix everything. âAll that it would take it for me --- to ----â Dying at the hands of Nathan Prescott, she hoped he rotted wherever he might end up in the new world.
Chloe wished that Max would just agree, because her words hurt her more than any death ever could. The tears burned against the edges of her eyes as lone tears slipped down her pale cheeks. âI know --â Her words came out broken, unable to understand how Max couldnât just go back and do it, just step away from her and leave her here - or whatever would happen to her. âYouâve proved that over and over, even though I donât deserve it.â If it had been reversed, she knew she wouldnât do it for Max but not in a hypocritical sense - because Maxâs life meant a lot more than Chloeâs did. And Chloeâs did not equal the whole town dying. She couldnât live with the guilt of being the reason Joyce died.
The thought of Joyce brought fresh new tears rolling down her cheeks, hands clenching and unclenching by her side. âIâm so selfish -- not like my mom.â Stepping closer to the edge of the cliff, her eyes tried to pinpoint where Joyce would be right now -- probably two whales. âLook what she had to give up, and live through.â Gaze falling back to Max, eyes now red either from the amount of tears of the wind constantly hitting against her face. âShe deserves so much more than to be killed by a storm in a fucking diner.â The begging was obvious in her tone, please choose her over me, please.
âthere are so many more people who should live.. way more than me.â
