I’ve got beef with the finale of Stranger Things.

I figured Byler wasn’t going to be canon. As much as I’d love for it to happen, and that it would have made HISTORY and I would rewatch the SHIT out of Stranger things just to watch that slow burn— this ain’t my first rodeo.

And that was the first time where I actually thought a series where being queer wasn’t the main plot, was going to have a canon gay couple.

Before people at me, I personally felt I did see Mike have internal struggles with his sexuality. He lived in a conservative house, and had Will on a pedestal in comparison to his other friends.

I was talking to a friend of mine, and it almost kept turning into an argument and I had to de escalate it. In the end I felt satisfied with the conversation, I had to keep saying that I wasn’t trying to indoctrinate and have him join the side of Byler, but just wanted to share what I felt I saw. I think he felt better too afterwards.

I just don’t like people jumping at my throat when I share that I like the pairing. It was shocking. I’ve shipped pairings that were obviously never happening before, just why was Byler so different?

Anyways, that wasn’t my main reason why I started this post.

The plot holes man.

There was so many that I found myself getting pulled away from the immersion of the story. Small details made me stuck, and then script choices did as well. Volume 1 was great, I was super excited, but then a volume 2 felt like there was things missing, and it lost that vibe Strangers Things had as a whole. I was looking forward to paying attention to details that the duffers said to follow. Like who actually opened the door to get Will? In season 1

Byler

So I’m a Byler shipper.

This is based on my opinions, please don’t angrily at me

Reasons? They’re adorable, I love their chemistry, and I feel they would make a great couple. They compliment each others strengths.

Do I hate Eleven? Absolutely not! I love her and I want her to have a happy ending. I just don’t think her and Mike are a good pair.

From season 1, I actually thought Mike was gay, from how fond he was of Will, and then remarks Ted would make about Will being missing, and when Mike was with El. “Our Mike, with a girl?”

This is set in the 80’s so homosexuality was way more repressed and etc. (I can go on, but I’ll leave that for now)

I talked to a friend group, and was quite shocked about the response I got. They were treating me like I was delusional or that there was agreeing that they are at least cute together? It was so strange.

I am realizing that they could very well not be endgame, despite how many signs I felt I saw, in fact I’m expecting it not to happen to be honest. I would be incredibly deliriously happy if they did, but I’m not the writers and don’t have a say.

I do hope that there will be a good ending, and nobody dies.
