If there were ever a time that Gaius should regret an action, it would be right now when he decided to try and brush off his work here in Elympios. Because what came next was nothing more and nothing less than a brutal burn that only Wingul the Nova would be capable of dealing. One that no panacea bottle would be able to heal. 

Gaius opened his mouth to speak before promptly closing it again. honestly this man had to be the only one who could speak to him like this and get away with it. And more or less the only man who could get him to listen when he took such a harsh tone. He had wanted Wingul to advise, didn’t he? And he was advising…. mere…. erm…. minutes after being reassigned such a duty, and in the most blunt and Wingul-esque way that he possibly could. 

The king knew he had overstepped a line here, because the man before him was cross. And that was only putting it mildly. “I see…” He finally stated blankly, clearing his throat before letting out a long, long breath. 

“Perhaps we should, erm…” One more throat clearing, for good measure. “Head back to Kanbalar. It has been awhile since I’ve had any Gaius dumplings, and I’d have to admit that I miss their taste.” The code behind this statement? ‘You’re right, and I’m, wrong, but my pride is too large for me to outright admit that, so here is a bullshit excuse as to why we will be heading back to Kanbalar. You’re welcome.”

Wingul let out an exasperated sigh; he got the message that the King was sending him, and it was just like him to be this petulant about it. However, an agreement was an agreement, therefore Wingul would not push the issue further. “Shall we head out in the morning?” Wingul asked, leaning back against the couch again and gently caressing the King’s thigh -- a gesture that Gaius himself should definitely know the meaning of. “And spend tonight with each other’s company?”
