I read Bluestar's Prophecy when it came out, and I just gave it a reread. I remember it being sad but holy starclan I don't remember it depicting depression so heartbreakingly well. Bluepaw's anger issues when Moonflower died, and everyone essentially telling her she's selfish and needs to get over it cause after all it's been TWO MONTHS SINCE YOU'RE MOTHER DIED. This poor baby.

And then Snowfur happens and the cycle repeats, and I swear to god I sobbing when she lost her kits. Not just Mosskit but she wanted to keep them SO BAD and stupid fucking warrior code rules made it so that she had to give them up. Like honestly would it have been a huge deal for ThunderClan to have a deputy who's nursing for a couple moons? These clans are based on community, she could have started deputy duties before they're six moons. It could have been just when she was nursing them, and there are other queens who's whole entire role in the clan is helping raise kits.

Over vacation I read SkyClan's Destiny, Hawkwing's Journey, Darkest Night, and now I'm starting on Tigerheart's Shadow. Can I just say that I fucking hate half of these cats and Twigpaw and Violetpaw are NOT AMONG THEM? I don't understand the hate and it makes me really sad tbh.

These cats have such relatable traumas to me. Violetpaw especially. Her abandonment issues are no joke and form her entire personality, which is essentially BPD in a nutshell. It feels awful that so many people hate her for it.

Hot take: Redtail's Debt was a five star read

But it went against canon!

It ruined Oakheart's death!

The good news is that that's for someone else to worry about 🥰😻

It made me care about Redtail. Gave him a personality other than the loyal, devoted deputy. I want a whole damn super edition about him. It showed how abusive and manipulative Tigerclaw was, and how easy it can be to give in to someone like that when you feel indebted to them. It made me realize how Bluestar could have been fooled by him, which is a thing I was ALWAYS pissed about.

I loved watching Redtail realize he was being used and breaking free from it.

At the end, when Redtail --broke canon--, I nearly startes crying cause fuck Tigerclaw is written so horribly and perfectly.

And I loved that Redtail got to know that Firepaw was there to save everyone from his lifelong enemy.

So yeah I loved the shit out of this novella and idgaf that it ruined canon, I'll just pretend it didn't
