100 Days of Productivity (20/100)
Nothing much got done in the name of academics today, but I survived a rough afternoon thanks to dissociation. I managed to get to my therapy appointment, albeit half an hour late (fuck you very much, public transit) and I’m currently just trying to figure out where my body is. I plan to finish two entries in my English journal and maybe read a bit more of It, once I find my way back to reality again.

the other night I had this dream where I decided that I wanted to get a restraining order against Jared Leto just to limit my chances of ever accidentally meeting Jared Leto. but then the courts were all like have you ever met Jared Leto and I was like no and they were like you can’t get a restraining order against someone you’ve never interacted with and I was like but he creeps me the fuck out and they were like ahhh yes he creeps her the fuck out maybe we should consider this. so it became a huge deal and the news started reporting on it and other people saw it and were like hello yes Jared Leto also creeps me out can I have a restraining order. so eventually like everyone in the world got a restraining order. but the restraining orders like stacked for some reason so eventually the distance of how far he had to be from most people was so large we had no choice but to launch him into outer space to live out the rest of his life alone. the day we launched him into space was celebrated as a international holiday and I was considered a hero for sparking the revolution. the end.
In relation to the preceding post, this is my first Stephen King book. I honestly had higher hopes, given how awarded and famous his writing is. A few years ago, when the TV adaptation of Under the Dome was airing, I tried to read the original book and couldn’t even get past the first chapter. It was just... unnecessarily vulgar and it really bothered me. I picked up It a few weeks ago in hopes of having familiarity with the story to watch the movie sometime, and I can’t say I’m enjoying the book too much at all. I know the book is a product of its time, but the not very subtle undertones of homophobia, misogyny, and anti-antisemitism are extremely off putting. I’m going to white knuckle my way through the rest of the book, because I’ve picked it up and I’m interested in the story now, but this is my last King book.
Also, I don’t think Stephen King knows what a run-on sentence is, or just how god damn hard it is to read an entire paragraph that consists of two sentences. It’s wreaking havoc on my ADHD.
My bullet journal says to read Hamlet, but the thing is, that’s just an extracurricular for myself. I certainly could make myself read it today, even though that’s not what I’m feeling, but I don’t think I will. I read 60 pages of It last night, and as someone only just getting back into reading, I don’t think I should pick up a second piece. Instead, I’m going to finish up a journal assignment for my English class and forward my rough draft to my teacher. I guess the main point of this ramble is, you don’t need to do every extra curricular you’ve slated yourself for.

Es difícil ser fuerte en tiempos de maldad, y es difícil conservar una opinión, una idea, cuando todos quieren sepultarla. Pero aquél que resiste y sobrevive es invencible, su palabra será escuchada y su idea, probablemente, seguida.
