I like how Oda immediately goes from Bluejam trying to tell Ace and Luffy that Sabo hated them Sabo trying to defend them tot he police. The bars on the window are a nice touch--already Highland is Sabo's prison.

Porchemy's treatment of Luffy this chapter is horrific, and I like that Oda makes a clear distinction between the activity of the criminal pirates and the regular poor people of Gray Terminal

Later on the island's nobles will lump all these people together as trash to be burned, but they're the ones willing to conspire with pirates who torture kids whereas these guys are just trying to survive

I've never really liked the explanation of Akainu "burning" Ace. Yes, magma is extremely hot, but Ace can turn himself into a mini sun. I always head canon that the molten earth is able to smother his flames instead.

Or, I suppose, there's always haki, but that's less fun.

Roomates/neighbour AU : haircut

Was thinking that if Robin and Sanji are the ones who cut hair in the crew apart from Usopp... they'd need to have some knowledge.

This is a modern AU I have where almost everyone lives in the same building, and of course the unit Luffy-Zoro-Usopp is broke 🤝

(Also Sanji's hairdresser ex is Gin of course)

Dressrosa is vaguely based on Spain and Italy, with a direct link to Ancient Rome in the form of the coliseum, so, although there's a weird mix of germanic trial-by-combat justice and gladiatorial buy-your-freedom type of sentences, we can safely assume a roman cultural legacy. *crowd wonders where I'm going with this*

Ancient Romans thought that oral sex was a form of debasement when you were of an important enough social status, a combination of the mouth being a sacred body part and the social stigma around 'receiving' the male genitalia. Cunninlingus was also stigmatised if you were a man (here again status counts! lower-class men were probably a lot more free in their sexual endaveours than patrician men. Still there was a pervasive 'machismo' standard.) Genitalia was also considered dirty to some level. (All of those informations are to be observed critically, just because there's denounciation of the acts doesn't mean people weren't doing it or didn't have differing opinions.) In many ways, those views are still held in our current societies, thanks catholicism and colonialism. *crowds getting more confused*
