hi your tumblr is too cute!
Thank you ! I love yours
Super Mario Kart, 1992 Nintendo
Super Famicom, Cartridge
My first Mario Kart game is still my favourite, it plays just as well today as it did in 1992, the vehicle handling, controls and track design is nigh on perfect.
I remember the graphics being a little divisive in the playground banter of the early 90s, such concerns of it not looking “cool” enough fell away after a few plays though, this was racing perfection courtesy of Nintendo with Nintendo’s look and feel. I first played the Japanese import long before this arrived in the UK, not that it being in Japanese mattered a great deal, the amount of text is minimal and the game is so accessible that we could stumble our way through the menus with ease!
The box art is just gorgeous, I love the illustration and the bold colours, everything just points to fun! I really miss these sort of 2D illustrations, the 3D/CG Nintendo box art that arrived with the N64 games just doesn’t have the charm that these earlier games have.
