Editorial illustrations for a conference discussing AI’s impact on communities.
thinking about how I’ll never be a slug suspended upside down by my own string of slime intertwining my sex organs with another slug as we twist and glisten under the midnight moon 😔
The Victory of Faith (1891) Saint George Hare
not using AI genuinely feels like the rest of the world is experiencing some kind of mass amnesia. if someone says they never use it, the immediate response is that can't be true because "everyone" uses it to write their emails or answer their questions. saw a comment suggesting that not using chatgpt to write an essay is "like the 90s". girl I graduated in 2021 and we weren't doing that! how is it that everyone has suddenly forgotten that they were entirely capable of doing these things all by themselves for their entire lives up until the past few years!! am I going crazy!!!
they get 4 hours of sleep per night and look at em they’re fresh
Im so used to my queer echochamber that when a woman doesnt have armpit hair its like a jumpscare
Wait why is youtube now putting an ai button on videos that’s like “tell me what this video is about”??? Do they think we’re too stupid to watch video now?
Like is the pitch at this point really that we should be relying on ai to do our jobs, make our art, make our music, do our homework, do our chores, research for us, write our papers and emails and texts, summarize all our books and videos and movies into a single sentence, strap a chatbot to your physical body so it can tell you how to respond to people in real life, replace therapy and friends and partners, think for us, do for us, exist for us, and this is being sold as “convenience”? Wow ai saves me so much time! It’s so nice to have something that can live for me so I have more time to *checks notes scribbled on hand* uhh. Sit and stare blankly at a wall? I think that’s all that’s left really
Being hairy is so awesome #mammal

one thing you should know about me is that i condone violence
this is not a joke to me btw. i genuinely support violence because no true liberation can be achieved without violence. you're a terrorist in eyes of state when you challenge a colonial power. as Malcolm X once said "You don't get freedom peacefully. Freedom is never safeguarded peacefully. Anyone who is depriving you of freedom isn't deserving of a peaceful approach by the ones who are being deprived of their freedom. The only way you can have peace is to eliminate those injustices and the American white man is not going to eliminate them, he's going to talk that pretty talk but he'll still continue to participate in those inhuman deeds." and when Kwame Ture said "In order for non-violence to work, your opponent must have a conscience. The United States has none, has none." and when Martin Luther King Jr. said “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” and when Frantz Fanon said “Decolonization is always a violent phenomenon.” and when Subhas Chandra Bose said “Give me blood, and I will give you freedom.”

Rabia S. Akhtar (Pakistani, 1992) - Dumb Canes (Enchanted Song) (2024)
Rabia S. Akhtar is a Pakistani visual artist. She received her BFA from the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2015, with a focus on Miniature painting. Akhtar’s practice examines the fluid, transformative relationship between humans and the natural world, exploring how bodies, minds, and identities can merge with landscapes and non-human life. She imagines hybrid beings and ecosystems where psychological, physical, and emotional boundaries dissolve, revealing cycles of change, ferality, and renewal. Her work investigates metamorphosis, interconnection, and the shifting flow of consciousness between humans, animals, and the environment.https://kristinhjellegjerde.com/artists/334-rabia-s.-akhtar/overview/
