I know not everyone is satisfied with how the manga ended (I haven't finished so I can't weigh in), but please don't be too hard on Horikoshi. It's very difficult for a mangaka to get the story to end the way they want it to (or even just close enough) and he does not yet have the same clout that Osamu Tezuka Shotaro Ishinomori and Go Nagai accrued over their lifetimes. Whether it's pressure for their publishers or being fatigued from writing the story, they all have to make compromises.
