the once-mighty aztec wind god and feathered serpent quetzalcoatl has gone from living in luxurious pyramids to a cruddy tenement on the lower east side

despite being the most well-known aztec deity, hardly anyone still believes in him; the biggest display of his powers currently is causing a draft in a room where there previously was none. and his powers continue to wane.

still bitter about the spanish capture of his city and people. had to take on more ~spanish~ features in his presentation so he could have an easier time in the usa, but don’t think for a second that he likes it

runs a bilingual bookstore on the lower east side that doesn’t make enough money (a calendar store would have made no money, though, so it’s... slightly better). the little shop is surrounded on all sides by mad gentrification. there’s a rat café AND a ferret bistro on the same block

may or may not have made some nondescript illicit dealings to keep his business afloat

needless to say he is angry, sad, moody, and kind of a shitlord

that being said, virginia locke is not a new yorker. philadelphia is where it’s at. cradle of liberty y’all!!

she currently works as a defense attorney & public defender, hoping to better the lives of of those who need freedom the most. but witnessing all these systemic faults and failures over the years has been extremely disheartening, to say the very least

every day she seriously considers quitting and opening a diner in manhattan because that would probably (definitely) be more fulfilling

the only thing that keeps her going is the other highly motivated partners at her law firm, twin sisters who are the embodiments of lady justice and prudentia – hmu if interested!!!!

surprisingly low-tech. still makes mixtapes, has an old walkman, and uses her landline

aside from liberty and justice for all, she likes only 3 things in this world: philly soft pretzels, apple pie, and bruce springsteen c. 1984

has a hard time admitting her faults and wrongdoings. she’s been getting better at it... but then again, she’s had thousands of years to master the art of acknowledging her fuck-ups, she should be better at this by now!

feels guilty because her powers of persuasion & empathy often come at the expense of those who really need freedom :(

NATHAN “NATE” O’NEILL 35 — devout — homicide detective

brooklyn born and raised 🙌🏻

a dangerous cocktail of irish and italian catholic families, though remarkably he is an only child

his parents may not have been good catholics but nate was!! for a while

as a homicide detective, he’s seen some shit that’s shaken him and his beliefs, so he’s in a bit of a weird place and would rather just attend mass and go through the motions than deal with it head-on. which i guess makes him a devout and not a denier??

prefers acting his shoe size instead of his age. boyish charm by the buckets!! or immaturity by the buckets. depends on how Lame you are

a pretty solid detective regardless, he currently works in hudson heights but occasionally gets called down to help the major case squad in manhattan. he’s really good at empathizing and interviewing suspects. surprisingly upbeat.

doesn’t have a lot of faith (haha) in neuro-enhancements or cybernetics. maybe it’s due to his line of work, but he’s seen more bad than good come out of them... but sometimes a case will require him to get one

chaotic good to his core

his new cases seem to be getting weirder and weirder

wtf is happening to his city!! he’s gonna get to the bottom of this even if that bottom just happens to be a shallow grave
