well, well, well, if it isn’t the feelings i’ve been trying to avoid
I was having some deep shower thoughts and some things started to really bother me. I realized I have been a shitty friend over the past year and a bit. I really miss you and I let my insecurities stop me from staying in touch, or making the effort to maintain a friendship. I considered you one of my best friends all throughout university, it never would have been the same without you. But I’ve never had normal girl friends; I am used to not being invited places, having people cancel plans with me, forgetting that I exist, not hearing what I say and ignoring me. It hurts. I assume that nobody would hang out with me or speak to me unless it was really convenient, like if we were in class together or worked together. Those situations are ok, because you have to show up to those things. As soon as it’s by choice and not convenient, these friendships end. When we went to different cities during the internship, you started making friends so easily. I felt bad, thinking you could have made all those friends in school if you didn’t have a partner for everything who was afraid of people. I also thought you would have no room in your life for me anymore with all of your new friends. I assumed they were more fun, smarter, and just better people than I am. I assumed you saw me as a classmate and not a close friend. I assumed you always had something better to do, and I’m just hanging out, waiting for you to be bored enough to hang out with me. I assumed you would talk about how annoying I was when I wasn’t around.
Most of these things aren’t really assumptions, they are more reasoned from experience and observation. I hope these are not real things, in our case at least. I just hoped that by writing them down I could call myself out on some of my stupid insecurities.
I often wonder...
I often wonder if I am capable of experiencing love in the way that it is always written about.
The more I learn about the differences between my brain and someone’s who is “neurotypical”, the more difficult it is to not be angry at those who’ve treated me like it is my own fault that I face these challenges. Sigh. But anger will get me nowhere.
Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes. Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more. You’re doing just fine.

I know girls who spill I’m sorry’s from their mouths like they pump blood to their veins. Sometimes, I am one. I know girls who apologize for asking to go to the bathroom in class, who apologize for everything because they feel like they are taking up more than their fair share of space on this planet. Everything starts with an I’m sorry and ends with one too, constant bookends that we don’t even notice anymore. We delete her apology the way we delete likes and ums from speech. I know girls with ten times more apologies than misdemeanours and I wonder how often they hear It’s okay. You’re more than okay.

My soul is impatient with itself, as with a bothersome child; its restlessness keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests me, but nothing holds me.

I love men.
We are just beginning to realize that we have overdeveloped the material aspects of existence at the expense of the deeper emotional and spiritual aspects, and we are paying the price for that error.
