it might just me reaching... but does anyone else think "mafuyu's song" from given fits avery after the events of sfawtde?
they both have themes of trying to fill the void after losing a loved one's death. THEY BOTH FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR LOVERS' DEATHS :( . specifically at 0:56 in mafuyu's song, he sings, "Who was unable to say goodbye or move on". in sfawtde, avery couldn't say goodbye before derlord punched him off. that lyric literally happened in sfawtde. in the og song, it has winter elements. sfawtde is new years' day, aka winter! (cough cough weaker connection but still!)
in witch hat atelier, richeh's long hair symbolizes her distrust of adults
many people typically go to salons to cut their hair, allowing someone else to do it. thats the key detail. over and over again (plus highlighted in the latest ep), richeh absolutely despises being told what to do. in allowing her hair to grow long, she holds control over herself. its even furthered by fact qifrey is a well respected witch; he must earn stable money. he would be happy to taker her if she asked
i find it funny the acronym for witch hat atelier is wha. every time i read it, it always looks like someone is saying what but then just not finishing the word 😂
on submarines, the crew typically develop their own phrases and words for things on the ship and the ground. i feel like it would've been cool to see that between rocky and grace in the movie
literally just finished project hail mary some minutes ago
i love how the astrophage is like the elk population in the yellowstone park incident. so basically the wolves were eating the local farmers' sheep. to combat this, they killed the wolves, leaving the elk population unregulated. with the elk population growing too large, it caused a chain reaction and the ecosystem's collapse. it parallels the astrophage's behavior towards the sun. without its predator, taumoeba, too much reproduced and then started eating turning towards the sun to supplement itself. in both situations, it's essentially no predator -> prey population grows too large -> prey population eats too much of the environment that is sustainable -> ecosystem collapse
CONCEPT IDEA: how one died in a past life(s) equates to their irrational fears. for example, someone who's afraid of planes died in a plane crash in a past life
luna wright (dr. stone) and "ballad of a homeschooled girl" (olivia rodrigo)
luna gives "ballad of a homeschooled girl". pretty simple -.- her constant nervousness and obliviousness to senku's true nature (he really ain't that charming) is absolutely riddled throughout the song
Cat got my tongue, and I don't think I get along with anyone
Blood runnin' cold, I'm on the outside of the greatest inside joke
And I hate all my clothes, feels like my skin doesn't fit right over my bones
So I guess I should go, the party's done, and I'm no fun, I know, I know
I know, I know
I broke a glass, I tripped and fell, I told secrets I shouldn't tell
I stumbled over all my words, I made it weird, I made it worse
Each time I step outside, it's social suicide
Social suicide, wanna curl up and die, it's social suicide (ah, ah, ah)
I laughed at the wrong time, sat with the wrong guy (uh-huh)
Searchin', "How to start a conversation?" on a website (how to flirt?)
I talked to this hot guy, swore I was his type
Guess that he was makin' out with boys, like, the whole night (oh)
Everythin' I do is tragic (oh), every guy I like is gay (oh)
The mornin' after, I panic (oh), oh, God, what did I say? (Oh, oh, oh)
I broke a glass, I tripped and fell, I told secrets I shouldn't tell
I stumbled over all my words, I made it weird, I made it worse
Each time I step outside, it's social suicide
It's social suicide, wanna curl up and die
It's social suicide, yeah, when I'm alone, I'm fine
But don't let me out at night, it's social suicide, it's social suicide
Ah, ah, ah
Ah, ah, ah
I broke a glass, tripped and fell, told secrets I shouldn't tell
Stumbled over all my words, made it weird, then made it worse
Each day that I'm alive, it's social suicide
It's social suicide, wanna curl up and die, it's social suicide
It's social suicide, don't let me out at night
I'm shocked I'm still alive, it's social suicide (ah, ah, ah)
Thought your mom was your wife (ah)
Called you the wrong name twice (ah)
Can't think of a third line (ah), la-la-la-la-la-la (ah)
La-la-la-la-la-la (ah), la-la-la-la-la-la (ah)
La-la-la-la-la-la, ugh
parallels between the little mermaid and tsukasa's backstory
when we learn about tsukasa's backstory, he mentions how mirai's favorite book was the little mermaid. this was to show parallels between the little mermaid and tsukasa's story. both symbolize doomed love. in the original little mermaid, a mermaid was in love with the prince, but he was betrothed to another. in dr. stone, despite all of tsukasa's efforts, mirai could not have recovered (until her depetrification but yk unimportant here). obviously, tsukasa's affections are not romantic; that is his younger sister who's like ten for goodness's sake. no pedophilia or incest here. ultimately, the themes are still the same. additionally, in both stories, the mermaid and tsukasa change fundamental aspects of themselves for their love. the mermaid exchanges her voice and tail for human legs. tsukasa trades away essentially his entire being for funds. you could also say tsukasa also traded away an aspect of his body. before trying to earn money, he was just scrawny and weak. after trying to earn money, he turned muscly and powerful. summing it up, in both stories, they have themes of doomed love and trade away parts of their bodies
(note: this took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out. i knew there was bound to be some symbolism, writing fundamentals and all, but i couldn't figure out how)
the little mermaid and tsukasa also died for their loved one's sake. the mermaid refused to kill the prince, even though it would have saved her life. tsukasa took hyouga's attack, protecting mirai

we know from carlos preserving the platinum ring by swallowing it, the petrified bodies can preserve stuff inside of them. does that mean the ones shot by stanley still have bullets in them?
in my opinion, the song "hey lover" by the daughters of eve fits sengen reallyyy well.
the first verse fits senku's perspective. The line, "You don't have to be star", sticks out to me. In the fandom, it is a common thing to hear Senku is "sciencesexual", referencing his affinity for science and most importantly (in this analogy) space. i imagine gen's worried that he is not important enough to senku; gen's love is merely a waste of time. in this line, senku is reassuring gen that he is enough, that senku loves science and gen both. additionally, the line "I love you just the way you are" also stands out. throughout the series, gen often masks his emotions. in "i love you just the way you are", senku is telling gen that even with his true self, senku would love him regardless. furthmore, the line "Without fortune or fame" is of note. throughout dr. stone, gen can be seen swindli ng others for dragos. in this line, senku tells gen that even if he could not provide monetary value, he is still loved. this line also references gen's past career as a semi-famous mentalist. in this line, senku, once again, assures gen that even as a "nobody". many people only love because of power; senku is making sure gen knows he is not that type of person. in addition, the last lines "Just give me/ True love and understanding/ True love and understanding" references senku's difficulty to express his deeper and more vulnerable emotions. in these line, senku is asking gen if he would continue to be the one to recognize his otherwise hidden self and care for the other.
the second verse fits gen's perspective. first of all, the line "You don't have to be a king" stands out. as senku is chief of ishigami village and leader of the kingdom of science, he holds much power. hence, this line essentially tells senku that gen's love does not come out of personal gain, instead it comes out his admiration of the person senku is. it parallels the famous observatory scene; gen reveals to senku, "...even before I met you... I was a big fan" (S1 E22 - The Treasure). additionally, the line "You don't have to be a thing" also conveys the same message. in addition, the lines "Just give me/ True love and understanding/ True love and understanding" references gen's difficulty to express his true emotions. throughout dr. stone, gen is adamant he is "unbelievingly shallow". this is obviously false; his actions tell otherwise (and the media itself out right says it). through it all, senku is able to always see through gen's facade. the line in "hey lover" is gen asking senku to continue this practice.
the rest of the verses and song as a whole are both of their perspectives. for example, the line "Life's a problem in my hands" can easily be from either one. for senku, as referenced when he is still blindfolded during the observatory scene, he believes his presence brings trouble. everything--the stone wars, the treasure island arc, and more--was tipped off by senku's interference. for gen, he believes he is not a good person. the rest of the lines seems more on the general love spectrum than specific parallels. although, the line "And be with me tonight?" could connect to how their relationship's symbols are highly connected to the nightsky (i.e. the observatory scene and how they parallel and the sun and moon). this connection is, however, a stretch to be honest
in summary, the song "hey lover" parallels sengen's relationship in every line (legitimately, just check the lyrics beyond "keep reading"). when i was explaining my thoughts to my friend, they joking said, "wow, it's like the writers of dr. stone ghostwrote this song". even if their relationship will never be canon, every day, i find new ways to fall in love with this ship
(i color coded the perspective of the specific verse. green is for senku's, purple is for gen's, and the white is for them both)
[Verse 1]
Hey, hey, hey, lover
You don't have to be a star
Hey, hey, hey, lover
I love you just the way you are
For love is just the same
Without fortune or fame
Just give me
True love and understanding
True love and understanding
[Verse 2]
Hey, hey, hey, lover
You don't have to be a king
Hey, hey, hey, lover
You don't have to have a thing
For I'll be satisfied
'Long as you are my guy
Just give me
True love and understanding
True love and understanding
For the rest of my days
[Bridge]
But, you won't have to worry
Life's a problem in my hands
But if you really, really love me
In my heart, you'll be a big man
[Chorus]
Hey lover, won't you treat me right?
And be with me tonight?
Just give me
True love and understanding
True love and understanding
For the rest of my days
[Spoken]
But you won't have to worry
Life's a problem in my hands
But if you really, really love me
In my heart, you'll be a big man
[Chorus]
Hey lover, won't you treat me right?
And be with me tonight?
Just give me
True love and understanding
True love and understanding
for the soul eater fandom, does the academy teach other subjects other than soul hunting? if so, how would the gang fare in the other subjects?
for pe (or i guess soul hunting could replace that, but shouldn't the students have a baseline fitness? idk this is random thoughts), everyone would fare well. i mean they're doing all this fighting. it gotta count for something 🤷
for history, like half of them would just mix up EVERY date and event. like "THIS HAPPENED IN SO-AND-SO 😃" "black star... so-and-so didn't exist in this period 😓". at the same time, soul would just take one look at the textbook and immediately decide to cheat. he did do this in the super written exam
for science (wait would they have science?), soul and black star DEFINITELY causes an explosion somehow, even when it's not chemistry
for math, someone is going to yell about "HOW IS THERE LETTERS IN MATH?? ITS MATH, NOT LANGUAGE!!" it would be absolutely hilarious seeing them crash out about trigonometry or graphing
in conclusion, y'all i want to see the gang struggling in regular subjects. i'm only on season 1, episode 14. if there's something in future episodes, idk know about them 😑 if there is, i want more (im greedy; pls give fics if any)
