ok i'm always thinking about them but the new olivia rodrigo album rly makes me think about them because in an au where he doesn't have to go on the hail mary. like what was the other half of that "what are you doing for the next twenty years?" what was her answer?

because personally i don't think that's getting acknowledged without it coming out as the result of some kind of fight they're in and despite the fact that i think she loves him more and more outwardly than he does her

HELLO ALL. i have a silly thing to say. ☝️ Malevolent World War One Information below

I am currently rotating the image of a lonely, grieving 15 or 16 year old arthur lester around in my brain, confused and angry with his parents still, and now with the world too as it cleaves itself in half. Arthur is not a kind boy and he is not a gentle boy, and he figures he’ll probably die in a couple years anyways, so why not die for some kind of purpose? Doing something somebody could be proud of? (He is getting peer pressured by random women in the streets. Someone gave him a white feather and he about knocked her lights out.)

I haven’t decided when he deserts, but I can imagine its like. Late 1917? maybe early 1918? Early 1917 could also work… before america joined the war I figure he would assume it would stay neutral (safe place to desert to) but this is less important right now. I cant remember when he says he met bella (IF he even says when he met bella) but he either got a blighty and snuck off while he was recovering, or just. Managed to fuck off to america somehow without anyone noticing. Maybe some kind of near death experience… anyways he 100% baby traps the first (single) woman who will entertain the thought of having sex w him so he’ll have an excuse not to go back LOL.

I think the PTSD makes him a worse husband and a worse father. He’s on edge constantly those first few months with bella, yells at her for little things, goes catatonic seemingly at random, loses his temper at simple things, cant hold a job, etc etc. I think the music probably helps, and is probably the only thing in his life he truly loves until faroe. Besides alcohol. Even then, mental illness isn’t something you can just turn on and off, and he’s likely more of an absent father than he is in canon. I can imagine that he yells at faroe too when he gets in his moods, snaps at her when she makes too much noise and tells her to leave him alone when she interrupts his composing, which is largely why he hired the help.

HOWEVER I am a dadthur truther. Shit dad as he is he tries, and I think by the time she dies he’s starting to get his temper under control having made her cry for what he swears is the last time. He was right technically just not how he imagined he would be. :/

I imagine once stratt gets comfortable enough to soften up around someone, she’s prone to crushes and desires for nonsexual intimacy (sex is fine, just kind of a chore) since it so rarely happens, and grace is an avid enjoyer of sex, but that’s really it. He doesn’t really assign any feelings to sex, so romantic relationships are largely uninteresting to him. She’s a stone top and HE is her pillow princess okay. I know this to be true.

Dwobbit Frodo musings… also you know that scene in the extended cut of the first hobbit movie where Bofur gets up on elrond’s table and starts singing. So in the book of fellowship of the ring, Frodo gets up on a table amd sings that same song, stating that it was one of Bilbo’s favorites of all the songs he’d written. Which implies that at some point between meeting him and arriving at Rivendell, Bilbo took the time to teach Bofur that song. Which of course translates directly in my mind to them being besties. I need more Bagfur bestfriendisms like yesterday. Bofur is the favorite dwarf uncle(?) cousin(??) rivalled only by fili and kili. Amen.
