Lees eye brows nearly shot up to his line hair, as that was the last thing the risen demon ever excepted to hear from the other man…  at least with any sincerity behind it anyway… Jack (at least Lee perspective)  was a flirt and tease, and though the older demon absolutely loved that about him, and genuinely admired the amount energy and creative mischief that just seemed to pour off of him at times…he had learn to take what the Lust demon said (especially when pertaining to emotional matters) with a ‘grain of salt’. As the old demons jaded mind quickly wanted to call into question and even scrutinize the younger demons sentiment, as he couldn’t see how Jack possibly love him after everything he’d done and thought about doing to the younger demon… and with the added injuries the other had stained, and the timing of omission, all of it had the older demons black heart in a mess… as his unhealthy masochist streak was eating it up.

Luckily however the healthier part of Lee’s mind (the gift the other’s had given him) wouldn’t let him utter those thoughts aloud instead wanting to take this moment and do something selfless for the other demon as he gently pressed his lips the other mans forehead returning the careful arms that wrapped around him, feeling himself relax under the other mans touch.. he loved it when Jack touched him like this, it made the darkness and hopelessness that normally consumed the old demon’s mind dissipate if only for a little bit… as reached behind his back with one arm and pressed Jack’s hand more firmly into his back letting him feel the unnatural groves and bumps that had once been previously smooth skin….

 It was no secret that Lee wasn’t good with his words, finding them pointless and unfulfilling…they could be taken back at anytime, or be made/ twisted to mean something else.. the ending of Jack’s ‘confession’ being prime example…

However nothing could take back what had been done to him… his back would never be the same again despite medical/divine healing, not that he wanted it even if it could… it was his way of telling Jack he loved him, hoping that if the little demon ever had any doubt about his feelings for him when the former torture demon became so detached that not even the other’s empathy could pick up the faintest emotion for him all he had to do was reach under Lee’s shirt and feel… as Lee tried channel the exact feeling he had felt in his chest for Jack when the other demon lay close to him…

It hurt Lee to talk sometimes… a lot of times, verbal commutation still a bit of a struggle for the formed torture demon of all the the things he had to learn about blending in with 'the humans’ despite the help from 'the others’… especially when it came to matters like this, but the older demon would be dammed if he was going to make Jack one of those people that actually never heard the words as he consorted with souls he had destroyed their memories revealing  just how painful it could be to never hear them…Lee had to tell the other demon at least once despite everything he felt and believed on the subject matter.

Jack shifted a little nervously as Lee was silent for a long time, his heart thudding so hard in his chest it was almost painful as in crashed against his rip cage. He didn’t want to cheat, to get into Lee’s brain and pick out the emotions that he wanted to hear, the lust demon just looked up into the older demon’s face with wide hopeful eyes, breath stuck in his throat slightly as he waited. The silence nearly killed him, his own dark thoughts starting to get the better of him. What if he’d misread the signals in all this? If this was like back in hell and they were just two demons that were fufilling needs in each others bodies...

The Lust Demon’s stomach twisted so hard at that idea that he almost took the words back, feeling what might be...tears building in the corners of his eyes. He reached a hand up to rub them away, or he would have if Lee wasn’t suddenly pressed his hands more firmly to his back. He let out a small confused noise softly, fingers digging in slightly. 

The bumps and grooves had such terrible feelings tied to them, the fear of waiting in the dark for them to be taken. Unconciously Jack lined his hands up so that the scars on his hands would line up with Lee’s back, where he’d tried in vain to protect the other man’s flesh. A sob worked his way up his throat and he understood that they were puzzle pieces now, with their weird edges only fitting into each other. He tucked himself into Lee’s neck and just held tight, shaking very minutely at the relief that revelation brought. 

And then the former torture demon actually said the words and Jack lost it just a little bit, crying tears of joy against the older man’s neck. “Thank you...Lee....love you....thank you...”

It took him a moment to realize that Jack was leaving, but the minute he realized it, he stalked through the club, fresh on Jack’s heels and dodging the people that didn’t get out of his way fast enough. It was almost hard to follow the other man since he didn’t spot the red hair, but once he found him, he was smiling.

Shutting the door behind him, he then settled in one of Jack’s chairs and waited until Jack found what he had been looking for. Standing once Jack started pointing at the book in front of him, Matt looked over the plans and was impressed at how detailed and consise they were. Things were so methodical and labelled neatly… Matt felt like he’d been slightly hoodwinked.

Looking at a man he thought he knew well, there was a brand new facet to the respect he had for him. Looking over the plans, he liked the look of them. It would mean a complete overhaul of the club, but… but it would be worth it. It would be something completely different and unique… Something that would let Jack make his mark.

Matt could feel an excitement in his gut and he knew that this was something worth doing. Something exciting and worth the effort. Taking a deep breath, he let it out with a smile and said, “This is going to need a new name. But… this looks amazing, Jacky. You should let Taylor come take pictures once everything is done. He also might have some good shots of landscapes on the island…”

Jack pushed his bangs out of his hair and let himself fall into the large plush desk chair as he soaked in feeling of the other’s mental praise. One of the good things about being empathetic He toyed with the edge of the pages and hummed, ignoring the twinge of ire that cropped up as the little blonde was mentioned. His lips quirked downward slightly and he ran a black pained nail over the page. 

“It wouldn’t be cheap by a long shot...but the profitability of the place would go up by a large margin.” The demon leaned back in his char and crossed his long legs, fingers steepling in front of his chest. He was in complete control here. Abadon had been called back to hell, and his own previous trainer hadn’t made the cut, but despite everything Jack was still here and he wouldn’t let a human make assumptions about his inadequacy. “I should be offended by how surprised you seem that I was able to do this. You do realize I’ve been running this bloody place since before your pampered arse even got on this island.” 

Jack stood after a moment, walking over to a side bar to pour himself a glass from the decanter of whiskey that was there, impossibly dark eyes watching Matthias from over the crystal rim of the glass. “You’ll get ten percent stake in the business, and will take over if something...unsavory befalls me again. But mark me if you try to intrude on the way I do things...”

“Jack…”

Lee began not knowing where to even start… though not due the want to avoid emotion or anything of that nature but because he truly had no idea how to comfort the other man…

As he wanted to explain to the younger demon that just because he genetic predisposition to act certain way that, that didn’t define who he was…  but the only solid evidence Lee had offer on the subject matter was himself as a comparison, and he felt like that would be bit inappropriate or at very least a slap in the face to Jack, giving the conversation that lead up to this point  … they were just so very different… from the way they process physical pain to emotion and if that wasn’t enough Lee wasn’t even a real demon.. he was Risen, only half of what he once was.. he was not tempted by his demonic nature, he was haunted by it, the older demon mused, as he felt his mind wondering back to the exchange in-between himself, Jack, and Mik…

It was almost as if (at least to the older demon) that Jack might have secretly been hoping from some kind of jealous reaction from him.The old demon chuckled inwardly to himself, if that were the case Lee would have believe that he brought something of value ‘to table’ for Jack, that would be worth feeling betrayal over that the younger demon would seek it in another…But Lee felt he had nothing to offer the younger demon… this entire situation a painful reminder as he looked hopelessly down at the smaller demon. Plus Lee respected the younger demon above all else, not thinking it would be healthy for Jack to be anything less than who he truly was lustful tendencies and all…  And then Jack had licked Mik’s blood off his hands, causing a range wide of emotions from arousal to self-harm within the older demon (like most of the demonic thoughts that entered his head did)… but the weirdest feeling was the after thought that he should some how proved food of all things for the lust demon..laughing internal again at himself, the former torture demon had, had alot of stupid thought cross his mind in his ridiculously long existence but that one had to ‘take the cake’.  

Shaking his head to stop farther thoughts on the subject matter, Lee sighed as there was another part of him that selfishly wanted to take this moment to tell Jack how sorry he was that he hadn’t been strong enough in Risen form to protect the younger demon when the other demons had come for them and worst of all his failure to control himself when his demonic brain had taken over…

And then like the old fool he was reality crept up behind him hitting him like a brick wall, there was nothing could say or do to make this better… he thought as he looked down at the bloody hands within his own, trying his best to sooth the broken skin. Wanting nothing more than to take the younger demon into his arms, but with Jack’s current behavior he wasn’t even sure that would be welcomed… however despite it all the need to comfort the other was just to great as the old demon finally gave in and wrapped his arms around the smaller demon.

It was a blessing and a curse to be so empathetic, but then that was the rub of being a demon. You were given gifts that were unfairly weighed against you in the long run. The ability to tempt but the inability to withstand temptation yourself, the ability to feel the emotions of others but your own to be tangled up into a knot so complex and large that sorting it out seemed more impossible than a demon trying to reach up into the eternity of heaven. For Jack it was good because his lover didn’t seem to either enjoy or to be skilled at speaking what was going on in his head, but it also meant that sometimes the lust demon was nearly swept off by the tidal wave of thought that went through Lee. 

The black haired demon looked up at the ex torture demon with wide eyes, fingers curling around the hands holding his injured palms. His eyes slid shut and he tried to pick out certain emotions from his lover’s jumbled thoughts. The feeling of inadequacy, the self loathing, the worry. “Lee...you bring more to the table than you think...” 

Jack put up no resistance as he was pulled into the older demon’s arms, in fact he seemed to relax exponentially, melting into Lee’s arms. He nuzzled closer, not caring if he got some blood on his lover. “Thank you...that...that helps more than you know...you touching me.” He closed his eyes and nuzzled closer. “Sometimes you’re the only thing that reminds me I’m a person...”

Matt could just feel how broken Jack felt and why he didn’t completely understand how Jack was feeling, he could empathize. Watching as Jack got dressed, he moved back over to the leather couch and sat down on the edge. He was quiet as he gathered his thoughts and after a moment, he showed he wasn’t entirely 12.

“Who says you can’t turn over a new leaf? Just because it’s in your nature to not be able to fight those things doesn’t mean it can’t be done.” Keeping his voice soft, he said, “It just means that you have to work that much harder and that every little victory you have is worth just that much more.”

Sitting back, he said, “I came here, bound to find a way to save you and this club… but I don’t think you need me to save you. You’re doing a pretty damn good job of that on your own.” Grabbing a grape, he popped it in his mouth and gave a nod at how good it tasted. Looking back at Jack, he said, “If I gave you however much money you needed to fix this place–be it just pouring money into your dancers or even completely redecorating this place–what would you do?”

“Impossible...maybe not, but...difficult. It’s so hard...” Jack let out a heavy sigh and shook his head, shrugging his coat back on with a little shrug of his shoulders. He cocked his head to the side as he listened to his other’s words, humming softly as he closed his eyes, thinking about all the ways that he could change this place. All the ways he wanted to change this place. Rather than speak he opened the door to the booth and swept his way out of it, hell bent on his office. 

The black haired demon rushed through his club toward his office, turning away his concerned employees with a wave of his hand. Once he was tucked away in his office he grabbed out some books from behind the desk slamming it down and flipping them open. There were several drawings of the layout of the club on the pages, but with changes labelled on there. 

Once he was sure Matt had followed him he pointed to them. “I’d scrap the concept completely. Take out some of the booths and make the remaining ones a bit more posh, more available for hosting rather than just hooking.” He ran a hand through his hair and then pointed to a spot on the page. “There’s an untapped spring around this area...we could tap it but it would be a bit of work.”

Mikeal glanced between the two and tried to control hormones. Which was hard as he felt the needle pierce his skin over and over. It was a pleasant feeling actually. But if anything he prepared being stabbed a bit more. Perhaps he was a pain demon after all, although when it came to sex he couldn’t live without it. He got a bit annoyed and frustrated if he went too long.

The demon let out a slow breath and closed his eyes focusing on something else…like Mina. No wait that only made him a bit more turned on thinking of the deputy. He could focus on Varg…fucking asshole. “Jack I’m gonna need you to focus on bandaging me up. The faster I heal the faster you can teach me how to fight that damn winged bastard.”

His arousal died out slowly, crushed underneath he weight of his own embarrassment. It didn’t feel right to just pursue anything physical with someone else when he cared about Lee, and the lust demon had figured that asking permission was a good compromise since his nature pulled at him in strange ways sometimes. Jack ducked his head and watched the bandage cover the wound, sealing the bandage with a press of his thumb. 

“I’m not much of a fighter, but I’ll teach you what I know...”

As Jack folded in on himself, Matt felt like he’d kicked a puppy. And he had a feeling that if Taylor saw him like this he would be very disappointed in him. Matt didn’t want to be that kind of man anymore and he needed to prove to Jack he’d changed.

Moving toward the redhead, he sat down next to him and wrapped him in a hug, fully expecting violence against his person, but attempting to comfort his friend anyway. His voice was soft, almost like he was talking to Taylor, as he said, “I’m sorry, Jack. So goddamn sorry for what happened to you. I… I’m sure I’ll never fully understand the torture you went through.”

Baring part of his soul seemed like that was what it was going to take to maybe get Jack to trust him again. “I’m honestly worried about you, Jacky. You feel too thin and… I get that you’re dealing with shit right now, but I want you to know I’m a call away. I’m not going to be a booty call, but a friendly ear when you need it. I know you probably can’t go talk to the priest about things that are bothering you, but you can tell me anything and I won’t tell a soul.”

“Let me be your friend, Jack. I want to help you find your feet again.”

Jack stiffened like a statue at the first touch, something in his fractured brain expecting pain. When he received affection he almost stiffened up more. It almost felt wrong coming from someone who wasn’t Lee, but he didn’t have the energy to lash out at the other male. Instead he slumped, his fight sapped from him and his eyes closing. 

“I’m not thinner...I’m just...smaller....” It wasn’t something he could explain rationally. It was just how he felt when he was out in the world. When he was with his lover he felt like a person, but it was something that slowly leeched away the longer he was on his own, the longer the memories were allowed to fester without distraction. He swiped a hand over his eyes and sighed raggedly. 

“I’m starting to think that I never had my feet in the first place. I thought I was larger than life...and now...some days I’m not sure I’m a person.” The demon sighed weakly and pushed himself away from the other male slightly. “You humans are lucky you know, you can turn over a new leaf...start yourselves off fresh. Demons? We are damned...so completely, bound to our natures.” Jack laughed bitterly. “I don’t even like you but I was willing to sleep with you, broken when you wouldn’t, because my very nature dictates that I am a warm hole to be used by others. The physical torture...that was pain and hurt, but it’s over now. It’s passed but the knowledge that it brought lingers...and for the first time in my existence I envy the humans and the Risen.” 

Jack snorted and stood to grab his pants, pulling them on with sluggish movements. “But that’s not why you’re here...to listen to me wax philosophic about my life.”

Matt took every word hurled at him. It was true, all of it. He had stopped fucking Jack, but not for the reasons Jack thought. He’d respected the demon too much and cared too much for his friendship to ruin what it was he had when he’d been on his mission to forget about Taylor. Waiting until it was over, he said, “You’re right. I was an asshole to you and I’m sorry. I should’ve explained to you that you were suddenly my friend and when I went on my mission to forget about Taylor that I didn’t want to use you like I was using those other boys. If I could do it all over again I would…”

Licking his lips, he looked up at the redhead and said, “There are many, many things I’ve done in my life I should regret but never did. I regret the fact that what I did made you feel less than you should have, and I regret that god awful night. If you never trust me again, that would be completely understandable, but you need to know that I respect you more than I ever have anyone else in my life and I was too fucking stupid to understand it until it was too late.”

“And I’m not trying to steal your club. I want to help you keep from shutting your doors.” Leaning back again, his eyes trained on Jack. Letting out a rueful laugh, he said, “Do you want to know why I quit calling you beautiful? Because you and I had moved past the cutesy pet names by then. But just because I stopped didn’t make it any less true. You’re still beautiful, Irish. A few scars doesn’t change that.”

“Respect me?” Jack sneered at that. Anyone who said that was a liar in his book, because no one actually did it. He knew he was the butt of jokes, the slut that was running the business. The weakling trying to train others. He looked away. “Then why does no one respect my wishes of wanting to take my fucking time processing this. You want me to forgive you, trust you, and bloody invite you into my business all in one fell swoop and you bloody well wanted to convince me to do it by implying you’re going to have sex with me when you know that I physically need it, embarrassing me in front of my staff by telling them not to serve me alcohol, and sitting there high and mighty throwing fruit at me because you think I’m being unreasonable? Are you starting to see why I don’t-” 

And then Matt laughed, that little laugh and something in Jack snapped, like a crystal glass that’s been vibrating for a long time finally hearing that last destructive high note. Without moving his position he seemed to crash in on himself, folding in like a black hole had opened up inside of his gut, sucking down every ounce of light from his eyes and soul. He stumbled back, sitting at on the edge of the small stage. “D-Don’t...” 

Feeling small and fragile, Jack tugged his knees up. “Don’t talk about these scars....like you understand what they are...” He closed his eyes trying to block out the feelings and memories of those weeks in hell. “If you respected me....you wouldn’t...you wouldn’t...”

Looking back at his papers, he sighed and said, “If I wanted the club so goddamn badly, I would’ve bought it when you disappeared. Fucking suits came up to me and offered me a chance to buy the mortgage outright. I turned them down. So think whatever you want about that.”

“Oh really? Why did we stop fucking then? Because one day it’s all ‘Oh you’re the best beautiful’ and now I’m just the ‘Irish fucker’.” Jack’s eyes were laser points of anger as he returned the narrowed eyed look. His fingers curled against his arms tighter. “You just kind of stopped fucking me and started in with your twinks, you even made a move on MY twink. So no, You and I know shit. He turned his eyes back onto the mirror and suddenly every scar stood out ten times more than it did before, and in a sudden fit of self shame, Jack dragged his shirt back over to himself and pulled it over his head, keeping his eyes closed for good measure. He took a deep breath and laughed bitterly. “I didn’t disappear...I was kidnapped...and you want to know what this is about, really?” 

The demon stood from his spot on the stage, stepping down and raising his arm. He didn’t strike the human in front of him, though, he instead swept his arm over the table, sending papers and briefcase scattering. “It’s because I can’t bring myself to trust you anymore. Because I can’t tell if you’re going to stab me in the back when a ripe opportunity presents itself.” 

“So if you wanted it you should have gotten the club when the fucking bank offered it, because it’s mine, and I will NEVER put it in the hands of anyone I can’t trust.”

Matt watched as Jack threw his little tantrum, not even flinching when the redhead punched the mirror. Waiting with him to be finished like he had the most bored expression on his face, Matt watched as the girl scurried away. He’d intercept the whiskey when she came back because he needed Jack fucking sober to get through this.

“I never lied to you. Not this time, anyway.” He wasn’t going to say he never lied because they both would know that was a fucking lie, but he continued on. “I bought your time for half an hour, Jack. And you’re going to listen to what I have to say or I’m going to leave and take the two grand with me.”

Pulling a sales chart out of his packet of papers, he sat down on the couch and helped himself to one of the strawberries on the plate. Making a mental note to try food play with Taylor some time, he looked back up at Jack and said, “I know what happened with Jamie pisses you off and I’ve tried to show you how sorry I was, but I’m back, this time with a very good offer of goodwill for you. So long as you quit being fucking stubborn and come look at what I have to offer you.”

The demon’s hands were clenched into fists at his sides, his teeth bared in a snarl that echoed his frustrations, nails digging hard into only recently healed over palms. The only thing that stopped the demon from breaking skin again was knowing that Lee would worry if he did it twice in less than a week. So instead Jack dropped down onto the stage, sitting cross-legged and leaning back against the metal of the pole. 

Jack crossed his arms over his chest resolutely and turned his head away from what Matt was doing on the couch. “I rent out rooms for sex, not board rooms for meetings. I don’t have to do shite but suck cock in his room.” His nails dug into his arms to keep from changing with the anger running through him, because that was the last thing he needed. 

This is not what his self esteem was craving... “I know I’m too old for you, what with being older than ten and scarred over nine ways from hell, but you can either unzip your pants or fuck off.”

The attempted meeting in the office right after Jack had returned had been a disaster. Matt still felt some guilt sometimes about what had happened then and he still wanted to make up for it. Unfortunately, in order for that to happen, he had to trick Jack into seeing him.

Armed with a briefcase full of documents, he strode through the club like a man on a mission. He did happen to have one, but he didn’t even look twice at the dancers on the stage, just making a beeline for the richly appointed room. He stopped long enough to order a fruit tray and tell the waitress to hold the whiskey before he finished the final approach to the booth. 

Opening the door, he was a little surprised to see that Jack had stripped down, but he wasn’t going to say anything about it. Instead, he set the briefcase on the little table in the room and opened it, pulling out a stack of papers. Grinning at Jack, he said, “I bet you thought I was here looking for sex.”

Jack watched his movements through the mirror like a cobra watches a mongoose, leery and ready to strike at a seconds notice. His teeth bared subconsciously at the sight of papers being pulled from the briefcase and turned on the other male with a half snarl growling in the back of his throat. “If you aren’t you can bloody well hell get out!” He stood on the small stage part of the room, adamantly refusing to cover himself now, leaning back against the pole with a fixed grimace. 

The demon was just about to let loose another tirade of anger when the door opened for the little server carrying in the tray. Jack looked it over with an air of disgust. “Where’s the booze that comes with that?” As the girl stammered out that the gentleman asked for it to be left out, Jack swung his fist into the mirror hard enough to make it shake precariously in it’s frame the waitress squeaked and promised to bring some along. 

Jack then rounded on Matt, tempted to flip the tray into his face, but keeping himself restrained by not allowing himself to step from the stage. “How dare you lie to me in my own bloody club, you’ve some fucking nerve...”

It had been a while since Jack had work the back booths, since before going to hell, and though he wasn’t thrilled his first client since coming back was going to be someone he wanted to punch in the face, he could use the opinion of someone who wasn’t smitten with him if the scars on his body marred him past the point of sexiness now. He gave the barest brush off greetings to his dancers, soothing over the quickness with half cracked grins and promises to talk later. 

The demon slipped into his own private booth, the one at the back and the most poshly appointed one of the group, and stripped himself down to his boxer briefs with a kind of unnatural fluidity. He paused and stepped up to one of the mirrored walls, looking at himself critically. Jack reached up one hand to touch the barest hint of the scar remaining on his chest, running his fingers along it with a curious hum. So much was different since that moment, and yet the same. Still angry and sarcastic, running from the issue rather than facing it. 

But those thoughts fled as the door swung open, contemplation melting into a wicked sharp edged grin. “Well well...look what the cat coughed up...”
