it’s about being fifteen and hating this fucking town. it’s about being a lesbian. it’s about not knowing if you want to kiss her or be her.

The high she’s been riding on, the excitement of actually doing this, crashes as she takes her first bite, sitting on a bench outside an office building. This is a city she’s never been in; knows nothing about. She doesn’t even know where she is, past downtown Dallas. Tall buildings — they feel like skyscrapers — surround her, bigger than she’s ever seen in her life, on an aptly but vaguely named Main Street. There’s faces on billboards and signs, larger-than-life, staring down at her from above. There’s men in suits, long and heavy and wool despite the heat; the roar of deep, hearty laughter as they talk over cups of coffee. Briefcases in hand; long antennas soaring towards the sky — walking and talking. The few that do notice her inevitably turn away, only a brief flash of concern on their faces — missions and minds set on their commute. No one cares. No one’s ever cared. She’s just a scared girl who doesn’t know what she’s doing. The world is shit, and it’s never been any different. We’ve been doing this for 300,000 years, and it’s never going to be any different.

“Hey, look at me,” Faith says, amused, and Buffy does.

And — “Okay, wow,” Buffy says, thoughts practically falling out of her mouth as she takes her in, hair curled and up — out of her face for once — barely even daring to consider the way she’s dressed for fear she won’t be able to stop.

“I clean up nice, huh?” Faith asks, almost like she doesn’t believe it — which is ridiculous, because here she is, in the slinkiest black velvet Buffy’s ever seen, looking like sex personified, and Buffy’s starting to worry she’s underdressed.

Faith pulls her in close, delicately by the thin satin straps of her dress, looking her over as she does — “Not that you don’t too,” — a crooked smile forming on her lips.

“Is that going to be a problem?” Buffy asks, wrapping her hands around her waist, holding in laughter as she hears Faith’s breath hitch; she’d almost forgotten what they’re here for: “You know, for the mission?”

"You know what you're doing," Buffy says, green eyes locked on hers.

She sounds confident, like she means it; like the sprawling pit of hatred between them isn't as deep as whatever that fucking trench in the Pacific is called — and doesn't that show that she really doesn't?

Faith rolls her eyes — she's never been good at words, and when it comes to Buffy, they're always getting her into more trouble than they're worth.

"You do," she says, crossing her arms and laughing, "You're literally the only other person qualified in Slayer 101."

She can't shake the feeling that two weeks out from the earth crumbling beneath their feet, Buffy shouldn't trust her this much — it's a little easier to ignore when she flashes that smile, and Faith feels like they're seventeen again.

This is a shoutout to all the ao3 authors out there that use the tagging system to its fullest extent whenever they tag their fics. You all are the reason why there’s still good left in the world.

And to the author of the Sonic fanfiction I just found that only had seven (COUNT IT, SEVEN) tags, six of which were character tags and the seventh was a relationship tag, you made me feel many different things, but intrigued or curious was not one of those emotions.

yeah hot take if the summary does not entice me enough and you rely on overtagged buzzwords and tropes I am not clicking onto it. write a good summary that speaks for it. if there’s a trope that features heavily, sure, tag it. if you mention something in one sentence it should not be tagged.

is anyone surprised this is smut for a super popular fandom. i sure am not. almost the whole first page sorted by hits is PJO.

second most kudos: sunnydale anonymous

my beloved. this makes me so happy :^) i love this fic so much and i'm so excited to finally finish it. i'm not quite happy with everything yet but i'd say it's like 80% done (as in all the chapters). i don't think i'll put the next one out until i get the pacing right for the rest. but is IS coming.

third most comments: i can't hide from you like i hide from myself

this may be one of my favorite plots i've written because of the dynamic and implications it creates which is ironic, considering how this fic started its life. i had to default on my assignment for this exchange, but after i received such a beautiful gift, i knew i had to thank my writer in some way. i intended to write a silly little pwp and it grew so so out of control i ended up posting it nearly 6 months later.

fourth most bookmarks: trying to drown in the fountain of youth

yeah well if you saw coraniaid's post you got the story of this one lmao. i actually matched this exchange myself (with help from the auto matching system of course but some people needed to be doubled up in order to have other fills go out as PHs), and proceeded to COMPLETELY forget we were writing for each other. imagine my surprise when i receive an amnesia gift after writing amnesia. imagine my MORE surprise when i see we wrote for EACH OTHER. maybe the amnesia was the friends we made along the way.

fifth most words: born for this

choo choo its the unfinished fic train. this one got started like. right at the tail end of my pandemic pjo hyperfixation and i bit off way more than i could chew. rip to my ambitious slow burn fic.

What are your top five fics by kudos? you’re the only thing that i think i got right  yall thirsty sunnydale anonymous ate served deserved! my baby!!! if you ask how I'm feeling tonight (baby nothing could make me feel bad) literally just genderbent Percy judo flip scene and they ate it up! the world keeps turning my first wlw percabeth fic….. and they were roommates percabeth one-shots what it says on the tin. this list is soooo skewed by how big this fandom is lmao. 

Do you respond to comments? yes they bring me serotonin ☺️

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? haaaaas to be a tie between the insane post wilderness Shauna fic and the inbetween 5x09-10 POI fic! i can go anywhere i want (just not home) entr’acte

Do you get hate on fics? no! I’ve gotten some weird comments of people trying to like nudge me in one direction story/character wise but I pretend I do not see it and frankly it makes me want to do the opposite of that

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i really only feel motivated for it if it makes sense within the greater story I’m trying to tell. my work is really heavily based in character dynamics so it definitely does feel like the right move at times, but I generally don’t like to stay there too long and don’t tend to write with a ton of detail. i tried to write a pwp once and it ended up 10k+ words with a plot.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written no but during our leverage rewatch the cursed idea of the person of interest team getting all the leverage team’s fake identities as numbers while they’re trying to con finch was dreamt up. and i think someone should write it.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? WAY back in like 2013 I collaborated with someone on a House of Anubis fic in FFN dms that never saw the light of day hahahaha. i'd love to do it for real.

What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have about 30k written of a Buffy post-series fic/Angel s5 rewrite that I’m absolutely infatuated with but it’s sooooo biting off more than I can chew. 

What are your writing strengths? Dialogue literally just dialogue baby!

What are your writing weaknesses? can i say long covid lmao cause long covid lmao. kicking my ass. jokes aside my current weakness is being exhausted by html code, and the middle point of stories.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i am not fluent enough in anything to trust myself to do so lmao

First fandom you wrote for? Ojamajo Doremi! Waaaaaay back on the 4kidstv forums when I was 8. shoutout 4kidstv fan fiction forums.
