Unplug vampire power
If you’re like most people (and most people are), you leave your cell phone charger plugged in when you go to work. And like most people you’re totally oblivious to how something as small as this is eating away at your bank balance.
Any gadget that uses a remote, uses vampire power to be ready to receive the remote’s signal even when it’s off. Any radio that has a digital clock display or has a light that keeps burning when it’s off uses vampire power. The consequence is a significant add-on to your power bill and more unnecesÂsary pressure on the environment.
So how do you fight vampire power? No need to reach for the garlic, it’s easier than you think. Identify electronic equipment in your house that might be using power even when they’re off. Get a power strip and plug multiple items into it. When these items are not in use, simply turn off the power strip. Another option is unplugging pieces of equipment that are not in use. Also consider opting for items that are more energy efficient. Render vampire power powerless and watch your electricity bill shrink.
