I've been delving into creature design today and I might as well share with the class since I do like my creations so far
But what kind of creature design? Why, Xana monsters of course! Mostly for fun but also having the possibility of me being able to cram them into my works, I do what I want chat ✌️
So! First one, I have lovingly given it the nickname Mr. Bitey (though Odd in canon would probably name this a Krokodile or Krok or whatever he thinks suits it cuz it really is just a Floridan water puppy when you really think about it)
A relatively larger creature, as its jaws can just about bisect anyone to devirtulize them. These are of course, land creatures (though I wouldn't be opposed to them being both since Imagine THAT is swimming up to your Skid...Yikers.)
Its main attack is of course - biting, with a normal amount of speed (though it is a little complicated when its body is built like an inchworm)
Random fun fact but the red spots are its eyes, you're welcome
Next up; nuisances/j (I am contemplating calling this a Viper cuz it sounds cool, and also goes with its toxic appearance)
Despite its appearance, its actual purpose is to be a nuisance. Its very weak and realitively harmless, but all the little leg-arm things it has is what it uses most, as its main purpose is to swiftly swipe in and separate someone from the rest of the group
Typically used as an ambush and would be REALLY helpful against Aelita in any season, ever. Though it could also work if Xana wants to pick evreyone off individually (idk why he doesnt do this more often 😓)
Its just about as big as a Lyoko warrior if it wants to "stand up" (as its legs are connected to its abdomen rather than its usual place on its thorax)
Neeeext up, an actual older idea of mine!
As the text above suggests, its a tricky one! When it knows its target is alone/the person is mimicking is nowhere near them, it let's out a blood-curling scream that makes its target think someone is in danger.
When approached, it quickly strikes with its tail like a Scorpion, draining its targets life-points rather than an instantaneous devirtulization (it does hurt a lot too, and when rematerialized, the person is incredibly weakened for a short period of time becore they can recover)
Aaand finally, the only non-colored one (sorry😅)
I actually don't know what to call this one, but essentially it acts like a large obstacle.
VERY slow to attack, but it keeps Aelita out of the tower its guarding. Its outer shell is very resilient, but its underside is completely soft, only needing one hit to be destroyed, but it stays put instead of moving, requiring the others to trick it.

finally started working on the cold war fic and wanted to share a little of what i wrote so far!
Slowly, feeling each of her heartbeats, she lifted her head and looked across the room; square and isolated with thick cement walls that were in need of a paint, sterile but for the signs of wear over the years, the corners of some desks jagged and unpolished from generations of bored or anxious students, the chairs creaking and perpetually leaning into one side; quiet but for the sound of the teacher speaking and the rushed scribbles of graphite against paper, suffocating but for the light streaming through the tall windows, and entirely covered in snow.
Every part of Yumi’s body flushed with alarm. A thick layer of the snow blanketed the floor unevenly, piling in corners and sinking around the legs of the desks and chairs. It rested on the windows ledge, on the wooden perch running along the bottom of the board where the eraser and extra chalk pens were kept, on top of the cabinets. It crept between her feet, speckles of it as soft as dandelion fluff staining her boots. Her spine tensed as if each vertebrae petrified, and her hands closed around the edge of the desk. No, not again. Not again.

Just rewatched Missing Link with my sister and her boyfriend. I lowkey forgot what an enjoyable episode it is? Like every moment of it is perfection? Ulrich and Odd are amazing. Aelita’s such a sweetheart. Sissi coming in with the help. Jeremie’s so funny. It’s just all very, very good

I've also always thought an Eragon-style AU for Ulumi and Jerlita would be fun.
But let me think about your actual question...
I love love love Beauty and the Beast - Ulrich can balance being cocky and immense self-hatred perfectly. Jer probably could too? I'd pick Yumi for Beauty personally, but you could also totally make an argument for Aelita since she's smarter, like the Disney version.
Is it weird to say Puss in Boots for Odd? Odd could also do a good Aladdin with Aelita as Jasmine?
Omg wait Ulumi Mulan re-telling? That'd be so good. Not a fairytale again but now I'm just thinking about Disney movies hahahah

Cinderella with Aelita? That would have to be Odd, Jeremie would never think the best strategy to find someone is to touch everyone's feet.
Ulumi Princess and the Frog would be so funny.
Maybe the Snow Queen? Yumi is the Snow Queen who abducts (not a little boy!) but an adult Ulrich? Aelita goes to save him because they're siblings or friends? Odd and Jeremie can go too just for fun. You could make that Ulumi or Yumilita, or any combo really.
There's also a Snow White and Rose Red (different from 7 dwarves) with one dwarf and a bear... You could maybe do something with that, just around the idea of Aelita and Yumi being sisters?
ANYWAY! Sorry for the ramble. Are you planning something, or just curious?
These are all such good options!! Definitely saving those fics for later read. And I'm totally open to Disney too! I'm not too strict about the stories :)
I actually don't know some of these well (Eragon, Puss in Boots, Snow Queen), so time to do some research!!
I wanna make some fairytale-themed fanart for CL! I want to experiment/practice different art styles, and I wanted to do something cute! Thanks so much for all the great suggestions!!
