The weekend flew by quickly and Monday followed close behind. You walked down the crowded halls, only this time, people were talking about this year's homecoming more than anything else. Kids from the SGA had started taking down some of the banners and posters used for promoting homecoming.
Surprisingly, homecoming this year had turned out way better than last years. Although this was the second year in a row that no one asked you as their date, you were still able to get a kiss from the boy you like: Peter Parker. You remembered how good it felt to finally kiss him. But you also remembered how awkward it was after the kiss. You just sat on his lap, avoiding eye contact as much as possible and giggling softly to each other. And after that, you helped him get home. Luckily for the both of you, Aunt May wasn't home and was picking up another shift. Rounding the corner, you saw Liz in the distance. Her mom was standing right next to her, and she was talking to one of the girls from the cheerleading team. You started feeling sick in the stomach. Liz was Peter's date to homecoming, and he ditched her so he could chase after the bad guy- her father. Not only that, but you had kissed Peter. She didn't know that, of course, but some part of you still felt really guilty Was there any good way to approaching this situation? Maybe not. Nonetheless, you swallowed your anxiety and walked towards her, telling yourself over and over to keep it cool and natural. The closer you got, the more apparent it became that her eyes were red and glistening. Looking over at her mom, you realized that she was holding a box filled with some of her awards and belongings from over the years. "Liz!" You called out for her. She turned around to face you, her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes avoiding contact with yours. "What's going on? Are you ok?" "Yeah, I..." She sniffed, taking a moment to take a deep breath, "I'm assuming you've already heard about my dad, right?" It was true. The story of how her dad had been keeping an underground illegal business selling highly dangerous weapons was all over the internet and on multiple news channels over the weekend. It was almost impossible to miss. "Yeah, I did. Oh Liz, I'm so sorry," You said softly, pulling her in for a tight hug. "Liz! (Y/N)!" You heard another voice call out. Releasing Liz from your hug, you turned to see the worried face of Peter Parker. "Hey Peter," Liz barely whispered. "Liz, look, I'm so sorry," Peter said. Liz smiled faintly, "You say that a lot. What are you sorry for this time? The dance? That was a pretty crappy thing to do." Heat rose to your cheeks the moment she mentioned the dance. "Well, yeah, but I-" Peter continued, "I mean, your dad- I can't imagine what you're going through. If there's anything I can do to help..." "We're moving to Oregon," Liz stated, "Mom says it's nice there, so that's cool. Dad doesn't want us here during the trial." It all made sense to you now. She had to pack all of her stuff for her move and her mom was here to pick her up for her very last day at Midtown Tech. You didn't want her to leave: she's your best friend. "Liz, I-I'm so sorry." Peter said once more. Liz just shook her head gently. "Look, Peter, whatever's going on with you, I hope you figure it out." You continued to watch the scene unfold right in front of you, guilt flowing through every vein in your body. Liz saw this and cleared her throat. "Peter, can I talk to (Y/N) alone for a little bit?" Peter’s eyes shifted towards you for a split second before looking back at Liz and nodding. “Yeah, I’ll be over here,” He said as he walked over to Ned, who was standing near one of the walls. You looked over to Liz’s teary eyes. She placed her hand on your shoulder and leaned in closer to you as the both of you turned your backs towards Ned and Peter. “Liz, I-I wish there was something I could-” You started to say. “It’s ok, (Y/N). We can’t really stop the inevitable, can we?” She sniffed, wiping away the tears as they flowed down her face. Turning back, she caught a quick glimpse of Peter and Ned, then turned back to look deep into your eyes. “Just take care of Peter, ok? I know he’s been acting weird lately, and he seems to put his trust in you.” You raised one of your eyebrows in confusion, wondering if she already knew about you and Peter. “What makes you say that?” Liz shook her head, laughing softly at your reaction. “(Y/N), I see the way he looks at you. Just make sure he’s safe.” You sent her a sad smile before wrapping your arms around her body and pulling her in once more for a tight, longing hug. As you laid your chin on her shoulder, the realization hit you that this would be the last time you’d ever talk to her for a while. Sure, there’d be opportunities in the future, but it wouldn’t feel the same; Liz won’t be as close as you are now. You shut your eyes tightly, trying to keep the tears from escaping your eyes. After what seemed like eternity, you decided it was time for her to go. You sighed, loosening your grip on her so you could pull away from the hug. Her mom, who was waiting by the door with a box of her stuff, gestured to the both of you to wrap it up. “I’m going to miss you, Liz,” You said, your voice cracking slightly. “I’m going to miss you more, (Y/N),” Liz replied as a tear escaped from her eye. She sniffed, wiping the tear away as she rushed to reunite herself with her mom. You stood there, watching her leave the building for the very last time. You wiped away the tears to stop yourself from crying in the crowded hall. Unknowingly to you, Peter and Ned stood right next to you. Peter had placed his hand on your shoulder, comforting you the best he could. "My best friend is leaving me," You quietly said. "It's going to be ok, (Y/N)," Ned comforted. "Do you really think so?" "Yeah, I'm sure," Peter piped in, "Besides, I know what it feels like to lose my best friend." Your eyes widened and jaw slightly dropped, feeling slightly offended at his joke. "Wow, Peter," You rolled your eyes jokingly at him, "Too soon, man." "Oh c'mon! I was joking, I'm joking," He said, uncontrollably smiling at you. "Whatever, let's just go to class," You smiled, reassuring him that you were just joking too. Peter and Ned walked you to class before walking off to their own. You were able to make it through your first few classes of your day. Thanks to Peter's tutoring, math became exceptionally easier, and Mrs. Green seemed to gain more of a liking towards you. Now, you were sitting in science class. Mr. Chavez had been writing on the board and lecturing the class about the periodic table of elements for what seemed to be forever. Just as you were about to doze off, you felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. You looked towards the front of the class, making sure Mr. Chavez was not looking before looking down. Discreetly, you pulled your phone slowly out of your pocket and put it underneath the desk so you wouldn't raise suspicion. You looked at your lock screen; It was a text from Peter. Meet me after school near the gates Why? You texted back He replied a moment later. We have some studying to do, don't we? You smiled down at your phone screen as you read his text. Shouldn't you be in class? You texted back. Says the one who responded to my text. He retorted. You were too busy looking at your phone to realize that instruction had stopped, and everyone's eyes turned to look at you. "(Y/L/N)," Mr. Chavez, your science teacher called, "Is there something that is more important than this class right now?" As much as you wanted to talk back to him, you only replied, "No sir" and tucked your phone away. You chewed on your bottom lip, keeping your head down and pretending to scribble down notes in your notebook as Mr. Chavez continued on with his lecture. All throughout your classes, your mind was hooked unto one thing: Peter. Ever since the night of homecoming, he'd be constantly roaming your mind more frequently than before. The more you thought about it, the more the question bothered you: what exactly were you and Peter now? It's not like you are his girlfriend, because he never asked. And it's not like you are his friend either, because you guys have kissed. Peter was a shy boy, so you weren't surprised that he hadn't talked about it yet. Maybe today would be a good time. Finally, the last bell rang. You grabbed your backpack and placed your books in your locker, and headed out the doors of the school. You looked around every which way, trying to figure out where Peter may be. Then, in the distance you spot him. His hands were in his pockets as usual. He continuously paced back and forth as he waited for you near the field. You started making your way towards him. "Hey, Peter!" You called out to him. His head jerked up and he smiled in your direction. "Hey, (Y/N)," He replied. "You ready to study some more?" You asked him, starting to walk towards the metro platform. You felt a hand grab your wrist, causing your body to jerk back slightly. You turned back round to Peter who had a surprisingly strong grip on your arm. "We shouldn't go on the train just yet," He said. You furrowed your eyebrows at his sudden change in mood. "Peter? Is everything ok?" "Yeah, kinda," Peter said quietly. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" You asked with a soft tone. His eyes widened. "Oh yeah! Yeah, yeah, of course, it's just..." You stood there, worried that something bad happened to Peter today. "Actually, (Y/N)...there's been something I've been meaning to ask you," Peter mumbled, looking down at the ground and rubbing the backside of your hand anxiously. Your heart beat at what seemed to be a thousand times per minute, wondering what he could be so nervous about to tell you. "Hey, kid!" You heard a voice call out. You and Peter looked around, and saw a man in the distance. You eyed him up and down in curiosity as he approached you and Peter. He was a fairly skinny man, and wore light grey suit and a pair of shades. In the distance stood another man, except he wore a black suit and watched from afar near a black Audi. When the man reached the both of you, he removed his sunglasses and took a long good look at Peter. You squint your eyes slightly as you take a good long look at his face. There was something about him that seemed familiar. Then, it hit you: this guy is Tony Stark, famous playboy billionaire that owned Avengers tower downtown. Your eyes widened at your realization. "Mr. Stark!" Peter exclaimed, immediately dropping your hand. "What, uh, what are you doing here?" "Happy sent you a text a while ago, but apparently you didn't reply," Mr. Stark said. "I know he did, I just..." He looked at you for a second before turning back to Mr. Stark, "I promised (Y/N) that we'd study." He looked to you, eyeing you up and down. "Top secret stuff," was all he said to you. He placed a hand on Peter's shoulder, turning his back towards you, and leaning down to whisper in Peter's ear. Most of what they were saying was inaudible, but you could tell it was super important. Mr. Stark turned back to look at you, keeping his hand on Peter's shoulder. "Peter has to come with me for a bit. I'm sure you guys can find another time to study. Sorry that you can't come with your boyfriend." You opened your mouth to respond, but Peter was quicker. "I mean, well, I'm not really (Y/N)'s boyfriend," He stuttered. You felt your heart dropping immediately after those words escaped his mouth. "Really?" Mr. Stark raised an eyebrow. "So you two aren't dating?" "Well- I, uh," Peter said quietly. His eyes shifted back towards you, looking for an answer. You shrugged your shoulders in response; even you didn't have an answer to his question. "Well, uh, you were holding hands just a few moments ago, weren't you?" Mr. Stark teased as he sent a smirk towards the both of you. "That's what I thought. Nice meeting you. What was your name again?" He said, holding his hand out for you to shake it. "(Y/N)," You said meekly, taking his hand into yours and giving him a firm shake.
"(Y/N), (Y/N)," He repeated a couple of times, "We'll be taking off now"
He turned around swiftly and started making his way towards the car. Peter turned his head around slightly and sent an apologetic glimpse.
Just before you were about to start heading home, Mr. Stark had turned around. "Actually, why don't we all do dinner at my place? I want to get to know you a bit better," He called out to you. Peter tried to intervene. "Mr. Stark I don't think that's-" "Friday, 7 pm, be there or don't. Your choice really." Mr. Stark said, completely ignoring everything Peter tried to say. "I'll look forward to it," You said politely. You waved goodbye to the both of them as they entered inside Mr. Stark's car and drove away.
You sighed to yourself as you stood there in solitude. You were having trouble wrapping your head around what had just happened. For one thing, Peter was about to ask you a question that you will probably never hear. For another, Tony fricken Stark had asked you to join him and Peter for dinner, and you agreed
What the hell did you get yourself into?

Previously on Sweet Loving:
“I am never letting go,” He finally said.
“And I’m never going to leave you,” You agreed.
He looked deep into your eyes, and you looked back into his. It only took a moment before you realized how deeply mesmerized you were by his eyes. So blue and vibrant, like sapphires shining in the sunlight, yet so loving and affectionate; and the only thing his eyes seemed to want to look at was you, and only you.
You. The girl that was somehow able to catch this hunk-of-a-man’s attention, and the one who loved you as much as you loved him.
Only you were able to do that.
He started leaning in closer to your face. Moments before your lips made contact, he stopped and looked back into your eyes, searching for permission. You slowly moved closer to his face, letting your noses touch as a way to tell him to continue. Then he closed the gap, and your lips made contact with his warm, soft ones. You could taste the saltiness of his tears as you continued to move your lips in sync with his, melting into the kiss.
It was slow and tender, unlike the hungry and passionate making out kisses you’d see in movies. You wrapped your hand around his neck and pressed your face a little closer to his. He tilted his head slightly in response, deepening the kiss.
Bucky pulled his lips slowly away from yours. You opened your eyes, and looked at each other for a moment.
“Bedroom,” He whispered hotly, breathing hard, before connecting his lips back unto yours. He put his hands on the undersides of your thighs and applied a bit of pressure. You took the hint and jumped up, wrapping your legs around his waist as he lifted you up. Bucky started making his way to the bedroom. Along the way, you took off your shirt and bra, throwing it recklessly into the hallway.
He finally made it to your room, closing the door behind him before placing you gently unto the bed. His body was now hovering on top of yours, claiming his dominance as he continued to kiss you. Your fingered tugged playfully at the collar of his shirt. Pulling away from you once more, Bucky stood up before you and took of his shirt, revealing his toned and muscular body. He proceeded by pulling his pants down, including his boxers, revealing his long length.
He crawled overtop you once more. “Let me take care of you tonight,” He mumbled before claiming your lips. His hands gripped your waist, pinning you down unto the bed. Butterflies started to flutter in your stomach, creating a warm feeling of excitement. He started planting kissing along your jawline, then down to your neck, nipping and sucking at your skin. You bit down on your bottom lip to conceal your moans. Until this moment, you had no idea how much you needed him, how much you longed for him.
He planted a kiss down on your neck. “I love your smile,” He said before planting another kiss down on your collar bone, “I love how perfect you are.” After every kiss, he’d say a compliment, making your desire for him grow greater. “I love how absolutely sexy you look under my body right now.” He mumbled against your skin.
“Bucky!” You gasped.
“What?” He said innocently, “I’m just telling the truth.” He continued his work, kissing every inch of your skin. You swore you caught him smirking after his words fell out of his mouth. Not that you were able to pay attention; Your mind was too busy enjoying the sensations of his lips against your skin. You could already feel a pool of slickness forming down at your core.
He removed his lips from your neck and moved down to your thighs. He hooked his thumbs at the hem of your pants and pulled them down along with your panties. He placed both hands on each of your thighs, holding them in place, and started kissing the inside of your thighs, slowly making his way up to your core. He ran his fingers gently over your slick folds; you jolted slightly at his sudden touch.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” He breathed before pressing a long, sweet kiss on your throbbing and wanting clit. Pulling back slightly, he dove back in and took your clit in between his lips, sucking harshly. He continued his work, licking up and down your slit, making you moan with delight. His tongue lapped up your heated core as you subconsciously ground your hips against his mouth, wanting more.
He pushed one of his fingers into your entrance, and started pumping in and out. “Ah, sh-shit,” Your voice wavered. You reached down and grabbed a hold of his hair, pulling as he put another one of his finger in, curling them to find your sweet spot. Your legs shook violently at the sensation; you knew that you were close. Your walls tightened around his fingers. “Bucky, please,” You begged.
“Cum,” He hummed against your core. Your orgasm washed over you as your body spiraled into a wave of ecstasy. Bucky worked through your orgasm, lapping up your sweet juices that coated his mouth and fingers.
Then, grabbing ahold of your hips, he pulled you in closer and lined himself up with your entrance before pushing himself all the way in. You let out a loud moan, feeling his hard length stretch you open. He gave you a few moments to adjust before slowly pulling back to push into you.
Rhythmically pushing in and out of your tight entrance, he leaned down and pressed his forehead against yours. His eyes stared into your gaze, and you stared back. One of his hands intertwined itself into your hair, tugging at it playfully as his other hand held unto your hips.
“God, fuck, I love you so much, (Y/N),” He roughly said into your ear along with other compliments and sweet nothings. Your legs wrapped around his body, pulling him closer to your hips so that he can hit your insides deeper. Your moans grew louder and louder with each thrust as his length hit you in your sweet spot.
You knew he was close to his orgasm when his thrusts became sloppier and more erratic. His hand slithered down from your hips and down to your clit. He circled your clit lazily, applying pressure unto it which only made your walls clench around his hard length. By now, you were already completely overcome by pleasure.
“F-fuck, (Y/N), I’m about to cum.” Bucky grunted, “Cum with me, doll.” You closed your eyes shut as your body let out it’s sweet release. Bucky rode through your orgasm, pumping in and out a couple of more times before reaching his own, and spilled his seed into you. Breathing hard, he collapsed right next to you unto the bed.
Cupping your face with one of his hands, he tilted your head towards him. You stared at him for a while, unable to say anything to him because of how out-of-breath you were. You watched as beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. Leaning in once more, Bucky placed a long passionate kiss on your lips. “I love you so much,” He said smiling, and reached over to put one of your strands of hair behind your ear.
“I love you too, Bucky,” You managed to say through breaths. The both of you lied down at your bed for a bit, trying to regain the energy to do anything else.
Bucky got up from the bed. You sat up too, worrying that he was going to leave you. You reached out and grabbed for his arm.
“Stay the night?” You ask, lightly squeezing his forearm.
“I wasn’t planning on leaving you here,” He replied with a smirk, making your cheeks hot with embarrassment, “I’m going to the kitchen to get water for the both of us.”
You sighed to yourself in relief. You crawled under the covers and waited for Bucky to come back, feeling too lazy to put your clothes back on.
Bucky came back into the room, holding two cups of water. You sat up on the bed and took the glass into your hands as he gave it to you. After you both took a few sips, you placed the cup of water next to his on the bedside table and went back under the covers.
Bucky snuggled under the covers alongside you and wrapped his arms around your body. His body heat warmed you up, making you only wanting to cuddle closer to him. You rested your face on his bare chest while he buried his nose in your hair, inhaling your sweet scent.
It only took a few moments for sleep to claim him. You, however, stayed up a little longer, and stared at the gray ceiling as the moon shone through the window, lighting the room up. You sighed to yourself, looking over at Bucky as he slept peacefully. You stared at him for a bit, looking at the details of his face in the dim room.
Bucky hadn’t given up on you. He could have easily left you to break down on your own, but instead, he stayed and tried to help you. There wasn’t another soul in the world that you knew of that loved you as much as Bucky did.
A warm feeling entered your stomach. It wasn’t your typical ‘butterflies-in-your-stomach’ type of feeling; it was more of a warmer one. It was a feeling you hadn’t felt in a while. As you rested in Bucky’s arms, you realized that this feeling felt secure, like there was actually light and color in your dark, monochrome world. And it was only Bucky who made you feel this way.
Maybe you just had to give life just one more chance.
~0~
You and Bucky sat down on the couch together. Your head rested on his shoulder as his arm wrapped around you, pulling you in closer to cuddle. Your eyes were fixated on the TV in front of you as you watched your favorite movie. Suddenly, a crescendo of tiny footsteps came coming into the room.
“Here she comes,” Bucky teased. He took the remote in his hands and paused the movie. A little girl stood in front of the both of you, blocking your view of the TV.
“Daddy, Daddy!” Your daughter screamed as she jumped on Bucky, “Look at what I drew!” She held up a piece of paper full of crayon scribbles. You took the paper in your hands and looked at the picture closely. It was of you and Bucky. You were standing together, arms linked, under a beautiful rainbow. The smile that crept on your face grew bigger and bigger the longer you stared at it. “I made it for you!”
“It’s really good, sweetheart,” You praised her as you pulled her in for a big hug. You placed the drawing next to you on the couch.
“I love it,” Bucky agreed before planting a kiss on top of her forehead, “Sweet pea, you should probably get ready for bed.”
“But I want to watch the movie with you!” She pleaded, “Please, please, please!”
You giggled, “Ok, ok! Only this one time.” Your daughter screamed in excitement before she sat next to Bucky. Bucky pressed play, and you continued to watch the movie. Your eyelids started to get heavy as the movie continued to play. You let out a loud yawn, letting your droopy eyes close as you snuggled deeper into Bucky’s embrace.
He turned off the TV with a sigh. You kept your eyes close, listening in on what was going on. “Get to bed, kiddo,” He said softly.
“Good night, Daddy!” Your daughter whispered loudly. You heard her footsteps get quieter and quieter as she rushed to her room.
Bucky slowly removed his arm from over your shoulder, causing your body to fall on the couch. You could feel his arms go under your body as he picked you up bridal style. He started walking to your bedroom. He placed you gently on the bed, tucking you into the covers.
He sighed before kissing you on the forehead. “I...am so glad that you are still with me today. I don’t know what I’d do or where I’d be without you here by my side, but I do know that I-I” He paused, taking in a deep breath, “I love you, (Y/N). And I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving you,” He finished with a soft voice.
You couldn’t help but smile. You opened your eyes. “I love you too, Bucky.”
Bucky was caught by surprise. “Did you pretend to fall asleep just so I could carry you upstairs?”
“Maybe,” You shrugged your shoulders. He rolled his eyes playfully. He went over to the other side of the bed and tucked himself in. He moved closer to you and pulled you into his arms once again. You wrapped your arms around his body and rested your face in the crook of his neck, inhaling his scent.
“Can we eat out for breakfast tomorrow?” You asked sleepily.
Bucky chuckled, “It’s your world, doll, I’m just livin’ in it.”
And with that, you fell asleep, knowing that the bright sun will hit the gray ceiling as it waits for the both of you to wake up the next morning.

Gray. That was first color you saw when you woke up that morning.
You had to admit, your ceiling lacked anything of interest. It was just something to close the top part of your apartment, yet it always managed to catch your attention. It was enticing to stare at all day as you lied in your bed. Besides, it’s not like it judged you for staring off into space nor mocked you for drowning yourself with the rapid flow of thoughts that roamed in your seemingly empty head.
You sighed, turning your head to face your bedroom window. The dimmed morning light hit your face gently. The pitter patter of the rain outside complimented your ceiling, as they worked together in unity to create what seemed like a sad scene from a movie. Gray skies, gray sunshine, gray everything. The world seemed to wear monochrome colors today; not that it bothered you.
If you were to be completely honest, it didn’t really matter what the world looked like any day of the week. Monday morning could bring sunshine and warm weather; and Tuesday could bring rainbows; Friday could even bring hurricanes and destruction. To you, everything looked boring and beige.
You jumped slightly when you heard the alarm on your phone go off. You turned your head slightly, looking at your phone as it sat on your night stand, pestering you to get up. But you just kept your eyes shut. You were hoping that maybe the noise would decide to stop and let you lie in bed just a little longer. The alarm, however, continued to ring on, as if it didn’t give a damn about how you felt or what you wanted.
Grabbing your phone from the night stand, you went to turn of the alarm. You squinted at the brightly lit screen, reading the notifications. Some of them were just random news alerts; and others were notifications off of social media. One of them was a text from Bucky:
’Mornin’ doll face. I’ll be working late tonight again, sorry. We’ll do movie night some other time’
Your heart dropped after reading the text. Movie night was one of the only nights you looked forward to each week, and now it felt like you had to wait forever for it to come again.
You pushed your frustrations aside and responded to his text with a “k.”
Looking back up at the ceiling once more: you decided that it was time to part ways with your bed. After all, you had a job to go to, and working was probably one of the only easy ways to make money nowadays. (Unless you count being a stripper, of course).
You groaned quietly to yourself as you attempted to roll of your bed. There was always that heavy feeling on your chest that weighed you down a lot, which was probably why you hated mornings so much. If waking up was always going to be this hard, then you were better off lying in bed all day.
Nonetheless, you were able to get yourself out of bed and into the bathroom. You turned on the shower and immersed yourself in the warm water as it hit your skin, cleaning yourself off. You got out of the shower and threw on your work clothes. You took a good look into the mirror as your reflection stared back at you. You ran your fingers gently under your eyes, examining the heavy bags under your eyes. Deciding to ignore it, you headed for the door.
You walked out of your apartment and into the busy street. Cars were blaring their horns at each other in annoyance as people came walking up and down the streets. Fortunately for you, the office building in which you worked at was a good walking distance from your apartment. You rubbed your eyes sleepily as you continued your way to work. It seemed that now was a good time for you to grab a cup of coffee.
You swung open the door of the coffee shop to reveal the long line to the counter. You groaned quietly to yourself before checking the time on your phone. You let out a breath of air, feeling relieved that you had just enough time to spare. But now, you faced the challenge of waiting.
Time ticked by as the line slowly progressed, pushing you closer and closer to the counter. You repeatedly looked over your options on the menu board and ran through what you were going to say over and over in your brain, making sure you wouldn’t make any mistakes.
You reached the counter, and the baristas took your name and order without any hassle. Taking the receipt, you moved over to the side of the coffee shop and waited as patiently as you could for your coffee. You fidgeted slightly as you stood in your place, constantly checking the time on your phone, and wishing they could go faster.
“(Y/N)?” A barista called out. Relieved, you walked up to the counter and grabbed your coffee. You started to make your way towards the door, until suddenly, a woman slams into your body.
It all happened so fast, it seemed like a blur. You winced harshly, feeling the scorching hot coffee as it hit your chest and made contact with your skin. Dropping the cup, you exclaimed, and looked down at your shirt and saw the aftermath of what happened. You look up at the woman, expecting an apology.
“What the fuck is your problem?” The woman had said instead. “You could have spilled coffee all over my new dress!”
You looked at her in disbelief. “Excuse me? You’re the one who actually spilled coffee on me! I think YOU should watch where YOU’RE going.”
The woman scoffed. “Oh please, I only made your outfit look better.” You could feel your hands form tightly into a fist, ready to make contact with the woman’s face.
However, a man stepped between the both of you. “I think it’s time for the both of you to leave. You’re disrupting the customers.”
“Gladly,” The lady sneered before walking off. You discreetly glared at the man, then walked out the door of the coffee shop as well. Today could not get any worse. You took your phone out and looked at the time. Your eyes widened when you realized that you were supposed to arrive a few minutes ago.
“My boss is going to fucking kill me,” You muttered under your breath. You started running down the street, weaving through the huge crowd of people that came walking in the opposite direction. You rushed inside the tall building and rapidly pressed the elevator button. You brushed your messy hair out of your face with your fingers as you tried to slow your breath. The elevator doors opened and you rushed in. To your dismay, other people came in with you, leaving you to be squished in in the middle.
You stood there, head kept low, in the cramped metallic elevator as you ascended to the 11th floor of the office building. You hoped that the people around you couldn’t smell the coffee that had been spilt all over your shirt, or would at least ignore the huge ass stain on your top. You couldn’t help but feel their glaring eyes score your skin with judgement and disgust.
A faint ding rang throughout the elevator. You squeezed and pushed yourself through the people in front of you as you made it out of the cramped space, taking in a gasp of air as you stepped out into the hall.
Honestly, you wished today would be over with already.
You walked down the hall and closely to the wall as possible, keeping your eyes glued to the floor so you wouldn’t attract attention to yourself. You quickened your pace as you rounded the corner, trying to make it to your cubicle. Sooner you could finish your work, the better.
A rustling sound of papers caught your attention as you continued on towards your desk. You peered over the small walls of your cubicle, and saw that a man was standing there. Most of your stuff was placed in a small box. All of your files and belongings. You even witnessed him recklessly throw a framed picture of you and Bucky into the box.
“Woah woah woah!” You called out as you rushed to stop him. “What the hell do you think you’re doing! This is my desk!”
The man turned around and faced you. “Not anymore.”
“What do you mea-”
“(Y/L/N),” You heard a gruff voice say. You turned around and saw your boss as he stood behind you, watching the situation unfold.
You sighed in relief when you saw him. “Mr. Edwards! This man is-”
“I’m well aware of what he’s doing.” He interrupted you. “My office, now.” He turned on his heel as he walked away. You stood frozen for a couple of seconds, confused by what was going on. You felt heat rise to your cheeks when you realized that all of the commotion had caught the attention of your coworkers in the room. Taking in a deep breath, you moved your heavy feet down the hall.
You walked into Mr. Edwards office and closed the door slowly behind you. You could hear your heartbeat loud and clear as it rang in your ears. Mr. Edwards was sitting down in his chair, rubbing his temples. You stared at him for a minute, thinking about what to say first. Millions of questions were forming. “What’s going on? Why is my desk being cleared?” You said, sitting down in a chair in front of his desk.
He sighed audibly. “Your desk,” He repeated. Mr. Edwards took a long pause and continued to rub his temples. You sat there in silence, twiddling your thumbs, and tried your best not to entertain all of the harsh scenarios that came to mind. “(Y/L/N),” He finally said, “I hope you realize that your attendance has been a bit...inconsistent.”
You frowned. “Inconsistent? I’ve shown up to all of my shifts.”
“I mean,” He took a file out from one of his desk drawers and placed it on the desk. He opened the folder and took out a single sheet of paper. “You’ve been more than 15 minutes late to work for the past few days,” He read off of the paper. “As you know, it’s against our policy to arrive late to work without prior notice.”
“Yes, I am well aware, sir,” You said, “But-”
“And I’ve heard you’ve been lagging behind on your work. I find it truly unprofessional that you would do this.” He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back on his chair. You were glad he wasn’t able to see your legs from under the desk as they uncontrollably shook. He continued on, “I’ve been talking to the management board about this issue, (Y/L/N). You used to be one of our best workers- and the board noticed this too- however, because of your recent actions, they feel like something needs to be done. And I feel bad, because I have to be the one who has to make the decision.”
You found it harder and harder to control your pounding heart as you listened to every word that came out of his mouth. “And what decision might that be?” You replied in a quiet voice.
“We’ve… decided that it’s best for you to resign from your position in our company.” His words felt like a dagger to the heart. A wave of cold air moved throughout your body the moment those words rolled off his tongue. Your whole world was spinning out of control and there was no way to stop it.
“Please, sir, I can make it up to you, I promise!” You shook your head violently as your voice started to break. “I can come in earlier to make up for the work I lost, and I’ll work longer hours too. Please, I just…” Your words turned into whimpers as tears started forming in your eyes. You couldn’t believe what had just happened.
“I think it’s best if you don’t come at all. I’m sorry, (Y/N).” He said after a few seconds. And in that moment, you couldn’t move. Time stood motionless as your brain repeated everything that had just happened within the past few minutes. “You may be dismissed.”
You nodded your head slowly as you stood up from your seat. You allowed your feet to drag across the floor as you left his office, closing the door hesitantly on the way out. You pressed both of your lips tightly together and closed your eyes, hoping to wake up from this bad dream. Maybe you were still lying in bed, staring at the gray ceiling and watching the raindrops as they slid down the window. But when you opened your eyes, you only saw the gray cubicles that littered the office space.
Turning around and making your way to your desk, you grabbed the box filled with all of your stuff. You took one more good look at the empty cubicle, staring at every crevice. It was almost hard to say goodbye to your little office space, but you knew that there was no other option but to reminisce over all of the things you could have done to prevent yourself from getting in the situation you’re in now. You blinked out of your little trance and headed off towards the elevator.
You didn’t expect that the journey home would be so loud. And not because of the horns from the cars or the little bits of conversation you heard as you passed by the people on the sidewalk. It was because your thoughts were in a vicious fight with one another. It was like a competition to see which thought could cause the most misery, the most regret, and the most pain.
‘You stupid piece of shit,’ one thought would whisper. ‘You can’t do anything without looking like an idiot.’
‘Maybe if you’d gotten up earlier, then you wouldn’t have gotten fired,’ another thought would mock.
But there was one thought that repeated over and over again in your brain: ‘If you weren’t so selfish and needy, then you wouldn’t feel so depressed all the time. All you ever think about is yourself.”
The words, just like knives, were slowly stabbing at your brain, making you feel hopeless and lost. Your thoughts came tumbling down an avalanche: one thought came after another and there was no way of stopping it.
Finally, after what seemed like a long journey, you made it to your apartment. You grabbed your apartment keys and fiddled with it, struggling to fit it into the lock. After a few good tries, you were able to unlock the door. Slamming it shut behind you, your recklessly threw your stuff on the floor and quickly made your way to your bedroom.
You threw yourself unto your bed and lied down. Your eyes met with the familiar gray ceiling, and you greeted it like you would an old friend. Staring at it, you realized that you were back at square one: you’re lying in bed and letting your thoughts consume you.
“Why can’t I fucking do anything right?” You whispered harshly to yourself as you roughly clutched the strands of your hair. Your breathing hitched, and you knew there was no holding back anymore. You covered your face with your hands and let the tears flow.
How did it come to this? How did your morning start off so simple, yet end in chaos? You tried closing your eyes as tightly as possible, trying to find a way to escape this harsh reality that you lived in. More tears seemed to escape this way, however. Sighing, you turned over to your side and looked at the dark skies from the other side of the window pane.
Before you could even realize, you fell into a deep asleep.
~0~
Your eyes shot wide open to a loud sound of banging. You lifted your head up slightly, taking in the view of your dark room. You let your heavy head fall back unto your soft pillow in attempts to go back to sleep. But the banging noise came ringing in your ears once more, causing you to jump slightly. You groaned as you forced yourself off the bed. Shuffling your feet across the floor, you made your way to the front door.
The noise slowly crescendoed the closer and closer you got to the door. You peered curiously at the door and wondered to yourself who could be on the other side. Hesitantly, you took the knob in your hands and slowly turned it. Swinging the door open, you saw the worried face of Bucky Barnes.
“Thank fucking god, (Y/N),” He said, pulling you in for a tight hug, “I was so worried about you.” Your arms stayed by your side, allowing his arms to wrap around your body and continue hugging you. He released you from his embrace, and gripped your shoulders with his hands. “Why haven’t you been answering my calls?”
You looked dumbfounded at the question. “Your calls?” You asked. You took out your phone and looked at the lock screen, which revealed over 20 missed calls and hundreds of texts from Bucky. You tucked your phone away before shooting an apologetic look at him. “Sorry, I’ve must’ve slept through them,” You mumbled.
You looked into his pleading eyes apologetically before gesturing him to come inside your apartment. Bucky followed you as you walked into your kitchen. You grabbed a water bottle from your fridge. You offered one to Bucky, but he just shook his head. “I thought you had work,” You said before taking a sip from the bottle.
“I did, but I wanted to get off early.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Why would you do that?”
“To see your beautiful face again, doll,” He said, smiling, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, “Besides, it’s movie night.”
You could feel your grip on your water bottle grow tighter when you heard his words. Out of anger, you suddenly slammed the bottle unto your countertop. “That was probably the stupidest thing you could have done!” You snapped. Bucky jumped a little, surprised at your sudden change in mood. “Do you realize how important work is? It’s one of the only ways to get money, Bucky! Some people in this world aren’t even fortunate enough to get a job, and here you are, screwing around and taking it for granted!” You clutched unto the edges of your counter as you breathed hard, look down on the floor to avoid eye contact with him. Swallowing hard, you tried your best to regain your composure before looking back at Bucky.
You read his troubled expression; his eyes were widened and glistening with concern while his lips trembled with curiosity. “Doll, is everything ok?” He whispered carefully, taking a step closer to you. He reached his hand out to grab yours, but you swatted it away.
“Sorry,” You said quickly, leaving the kitchen before Bucky could get another word out.
“(Y/N),” Bucky called out after you. You plopped down unto your couch in the living room. You took the remote into your hands and turned on the TV, and started your search for movies.
“Is there anything in particular you want to watch tonight?” You said, ignoring Bucky’s constant calls for your attention. Without warning, he forcefully grabbed the remote out of your hands. You stood up and tried to grab it, but he held it over his head. “Bucky, seriously, give it back.”
He pretended to think about it for a moment. “No,” He said plainly. You rolled your eyes in annoyance and tried reaching for it again, however, he stretched his arms out even farther to keep it out of your reach.
“I’ll give it to you, but only if you tell me why you were yelling at me earlier,” He tried to bargain, “Did you have a bad day today?”
You scoffed, “Bad day? My whole damn life is a fucking bad day!”
Bucky threw the remote unto the couch and held out his hands, motioning for you to be quiet. “(Y/N), please calm-”
“No! I won’t calm down!” You exploded, running your hand through your hair angrily. “I’m just so fucking done with everything, Bucky! Day after day, my life is just a never ending nightmare, and I can’t seem to wake up!” You stopped yelling for a moment to catch your breath. Your loud booming voice bounced off the walls of your apartment. At this point, you couldn’t care who could hear you or if you were being too loud.
“Do you know how much it hurts not being able to feel anything at all? To feel so numb to all of the pain?” You continued on. “I-It’s so unfair! My whole world looks so gray, and everyone else gets the privilege of seeing color. The food that I eat, the drinks I drink, they all taste so bland and artificial. It’s like I’m barely living, Bucky. It-It’s been so long since I’ve felt alive.” Unaware, your voice was slowly getting quieter and quieter the more you talked. Your vision has started to become blurry and filled to tears. Taking in a deep breath, you let a silent stream of hot tears flow down your face as you let all of you emotions go.
“I quit. You said, admitting defeat. “I’m better off being dead anyway. I mean, the sun will still rise and the Earth will continue rotating, so what’s the difference?” You watched Bucky’s expression change from sadness and sympathy to anger in less than a heartbeat. His fists clenched up the moment your words had escaped from your mouth. Now you knew, there was no taking them back.
“Don’t you dare fucking say that!” He finally snapped. You took a small step back, slightly jumping in his change of mood. “You think I don’t understand what that feels like? I’m a living example of what that feels like.” By now, his hands were gripping at your shoulders tightly, but not tight enough to hurt you. And it was easy to read the fear, pain, and heartbreak just by looking at his face. He continued on, “I’ve been brainwashed and killed so many people. It was like HYDRA took total control over my brain and I couldn’t feel a thing, (Y/N). I was so numb to the pain, and I couldn’t feel it.”
His grip on your shoulders lessened as he kept on talking. “Don't give me that ‘life will still go on without me’ bullshit because it won’t. You are the very reason why I’ve left my past behind and continued living on. I can always replace my missing arm, but (Y/N), if I lost you, then I’d be losing a whole part of myself that I would be never be able to get back.”
Silence had overcome the both of you, causing you to just stop and stare at each other. His glossy, blue eyes were so hard to ignore. He was so close to breaking down, it almost reminded you of yourself and how you felt. Your stomach had started forming knots, realizing that you were giving Bucky the exact same pain that other people in your life had given you.
“I-I'm so sorry. I just-I don’t know what to do, Bucky,” You barely whispered, breaking the silence “I’m so scared.”
“Shhh,” He cooed. “It’s going to be ok.” He wrapped his arms around your body, pulling you in for a tight hug. You buried your head into his chest as you let your arms wrap around his torso. There, you let your tears seep into his shirt.
The both of you stood there in each others arms for what seemed like forever. Bucky pulled away from you, and took your face in his hands. His cold metal hand tickled at your skin a bit as he wiped away the tears that flowed down your face.
“(Y/N), I love you so much,” He hoarsely breathed, his forehead pressing against yours.
“Why?” You were barely able to get the words out. “I’m not worth anything, Bucky. I don’t deserve you.”
“No, you don’t,” He stated, “You deserve the world, and I plan on giving it to you one day.” He sniffed. His hands started to grow shaky as he continued to hold your face tightly in place, as if he were afraid that you were going to slip out of his hands. “Please, (Y/N), stay with me. I promise you, we’ll work through the pain together, but (Y/N), I-I can’t lose you,” He managed to say through his breaking voice.
“Ok, Bucky,” were the only words you were able to get out.
The tears in his eyes finally made their way down his cheeks and disappeared into his beard. Standing there in silence once again, you allowed yourself to just stay in the moment. Bucky’s presence was like a wave of reassurance hitting you.
Yes, your problems were still there. And yes, they were still annoying the shit out of you. But the feeling of Bucky being there for you when you needed him the most felt so much better than you could have imagined. He was someone who you could trust and rely on, and definitely someone who won’t give up on you easily. You were so thankful to have this man in your life.
“I am never letting go,” He finally said.
“And I’m never going to leave you,” You agreed.

It was getting late, and your phone was going to die at any minute. You tucked your phone away and started looking down the street. Maybe now was the best time to go home.
Suddenly, you saw a shadow move in one of the alleys in front of you. You picked up your pace, trying to get closer to the alley. You turned your head as you looked. A grunting noise caught you by surprise as you looked down the alley. The boy in the blue and red pajamas laid down on the dirty concrete floor, back pressed against the wall.
“Peter!”
You rushed over to him, and knelt down by his side. You reached for his hand and pulled his sleeve up, pressing two of your fingers down on his wrist. You sighed in relief as soon as you felt a pulse.
“(Y/N)?” You heard Peter’s muffled voice through his mask.
“Oh, Peter, you’re ok!” You said softly.
“Shouldn’t you be at the-” He said, trying to get up, but fell back down, wincing in pain.
“Shh,” You cooed, “Here, let me help you.” You grabbed his arm and put it over your shoulders, pulling him up from off the ground. You let your arm wrap around his back, and laid your hand on his waist, supporting his body as you helped him get up.
You started walking down the street at a slow pace, stopping every so often to adjust your grip on Peter; and to check that he hadn’t fallen unconscious. The journey to your house seemed longer than you had anticipated, but luckily, the city was a bit quieter than usual.
You walked up your driveway and stopped at the front door, and struggled as you got your house keys out, awkwardly fiddling with it until you were able to get it into the lock. You kicked open the door and went inside with Peter. You kept at a slow and steady pace up the stairs, taking one step at a time.
You made your way down the hall and into your bedroom. You gently laid Peter down on your bed, letting his back rest on the headboard.
Then, you rushed to your bathroom, and hastily filled a basin with warm water. You threw a washcloth over your shoulder and rushed back your room. You placed the bowl on your bedside table and placed the washcloth in, allowing it to soak up the water.
“Where are your parents?” He asked weakly.
You shrugged your shoulders. “Probably out to dinner or something,” You muttered under your breath. You honestly could not give a damn about where they were at this moment. Right now, your focus was on Peter.
You grabbed the washcloth and wrung it thoroughly. You sat down unto the bed next to Peter. One of your hands reached up to Peter’s face, slowly removing his cotton mask from his face. He was beaten up badly; and was covered with cuts and bruises.
You held his chin at the tips of your fingers and started rubbing his face tenderly with the cloth. You made sure not to miss a spot of blood on his face as you went over his cuts.
“(Y/N), I’m not a child, you know,” He said half-heartedly, “I can do it myself.”
“No, Peter,” You said almost instantly, “You’re hurt. Let me take care of you.”
He protested by sitting up. “But-”
“Peter, stop. You’ve saved me so many times, and I just-” You exhaled through your nostrils, realizing that your voice was breaking, “Please, just let me take care of you.”
Peter nodded his head and laid back unto the headboard obediently. You finished cleaning up his face. You rinsed off the cloth with the water in the bowl and turned back to Peter.
You tugged at the bottom of his shirt. “Erm, I need to clean your chest,” You spoke indistinctly, feeling heat rise to your cheeks. Peter tilted his head slightly. “You know, just to check for bruises and stuff,” You added quickly.
He didn’t hesitate or question you. You bit down on your lip hard as you watched him remove his shirt carefully from his body. The last time you saw him without his shirt was during Ned’s pool party in the seventh grade, and during that time, Peter was probably the skinniest kid you knew. Now, his arms were covered with muscle, and you definitely couldn’t forget his six pack that was covered with a mixture of sweat and blood.
You gulped as your grip on the washcloth tightened in your hands, trying to push away the sinful thoughts that had just entered your mind. You slowly ran the cloth over Peter’s skin as you cleaned him up. You accidentally applied pressure to his shoulder. He sharply inhaled through his gritted teeth. You pulled your hand away. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” He smiled weakly. You absentmindedly started at his toned body once more. You had a hard time controlling your eyes as they wandered over his figure. “Hello? Earth to (Y/N)?”
You blinked your eyes and sheepishly cleared your throat. “Sorry,” You mumbled again. You readjusted yourself before kneeling on the bed. You reached over to his far shoulder and attempted to wash off the blood.
“You can sit on my lap if you need to get a better angle,” He said casually, patting on his lap.
Your eyes slightly widened. You hesitated before climbing on top of him. You did this slowly, as you were still trying to process what he had said to you.
But he did nothing to stop you. You straddled yourself unto his lap, and adjusted so that you were at least one foot away from him. You averted your eyes away from his as your shaky hands moved up to his shoulder. You tried slowing down your breathing in attempts to control your heartbeat, which you knew was about to come out of your chest at any moment; you were sure Peter could hear it.
It made you feel better that Peter was just as embarrassed as you were in this situation. You could see from the corners of your eyes that his face was flushed. Your hands grew shaky as his focus stayed on you.
“So,” You said, breaking the silence, “Is this what you normally do? Fighting bad guys, I mean.”
He thought about it for a moment. “Well, fighting bad guys is pretty normal for me, but at least I can cross off fighting my homecoming date’s dad from my bucket list.”
You smiled at his little joke, continuing with your work on his shoulder. You wiped of all the blood that you could, and then moved on to the other shoulder.
You had asked Peter to tell you what happened, and why he had run away from the dance. Although Ned had already told you, you felt that it was better to hear it from him. Besides, you felt that it was better to listen to his voice than for the both of you to be sitting silently: it would only make the situation even more awkward. You also loved hearing his voice, which was definitely an upside.
He told you about all the areas he could cover. He started talking about how the well-known billionaire playboy, Tony Stark, had taken him to Berlin to fight some of the other Avengers. You laughed when he told you about stealing Captain America’s shield.
From there on, he explained to you why he left D.C., which was mostly just him apologizing to you.
You heart ached a little when he started talking about Liz and her dad, but you just pushed your feelings aside, knowing that if you wanted to know the whole story, then you’d have to get rid of the envy that flowed through your veins.
“How did you even end up in an alley?” You asked. “I thought you said you crashed landed on the beach.”
“Yeah, but after I saved Liz’s dad, I had to tie him up and leave as soon as possible so that the authorities wouldn’t question me.” Peter replied. “I tried getting home so that I could quickly change and come back to the dance, but everything went black. But then, I heard your voice and you saved me.”
You nodded your head slowly, smiling softly at his words. The room had fell into silence once more, letting the both of you reminisce and think for a moment.
“Why did you come after me?” He suddenly asked. You looked at him with concern. “Like, why did you leave the dance and go looking for me?”
You shrugged your shoulders. “It...felt like the right thing to.” You looked away from him as you continued your work, trying to avoid the question. But he didn’t take it for an answer. He placed his hand overtop yours, forcing you to stop and look at him.
“(Y/N),” He said. His voice was firm, but soft.
You sighed in frustration, “Peter, I-” You stopped yourself. You pressed your lips together as you tried to form your words.
“You what?” He continued to stare at you as you thought about your answer.
“I-I just wanted to do something for you,” You barely whispered, “You’ve done so much for me and I just-”
“Hey,” He said softly, “You could have been hurt, (Y/N). I don’t know what I would have done if you ever gotten hurt because of me.” He took in a deep breath as he started into your eyes. “Besides, I took away homecoming from you. It was your night, after all.”
You scoffed, looking at him with disbelief, “You really think that’s important to me?”
“Well, yea,” He said quietly, “It probably took your forever to get ready. I walked into the auditorium and I saw you laughing and smiling with Ned and your friends, and I didn’t want to ruin that for you.” His voice became softer and softer with every word he spoke.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do that if it weren’t for you!” You said a bit loudly. Peter jumped slightly at your quick change of mood. “Do you even understand what you’ve done for me? Y-you studied with me even though you were still really mad after the party, you comforted me when I had a bad dream, and you’ve saved my life twice! I wouldn’t even be alive if it weren’t for you.”
The room soon became filled with the sounds of heavy breathing and rising tension. You breathed hard as your eyes bored into his dark brown ones. “Peter, you are more important to me than anyone else.”
“(Y/N), you are so important to me too,” He whispered.
“Why?” You said, your voice slightly cracking, “I’m...just an annoying and dumb person.”
“Well, I seem to like you for the ‘annoying and dumb’ person you are,” He smiled. Your eyes widened at his words. You gasped, taking in what he had just said to you. “And I mean, really like you,” He finished off.
You knew you couldn’t take it anymore once you had heard those words come out of his mouth. You pressed your lips down unto Peter’s.
His body tensed up at the sudden contact, but soon, he let himself melt into the kiss. You let your hands rest on his shoulders. It caught you by surprise when he laid his hands unto your waist, and pulled your body closed to his, deepening the kiss.
You pulled away abruptly, gasping for a breath of air before opening your eyes to meet his. You slowed down your breathing, trying to hide your racing heartbeat from the excitement, but it was useless.
It had finally happened. You just kissed Peter Parker.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for that,” He chuckled. You lightly giggled, and watched his smile turn into a frown.
“What’s wrong?” You asked.
Peter paused for a second. “Is it bad that I regret not taking you to homecoming?”
You pressed your forehead against his. “No, this is way better than homecoming,” You said before kissing him once more.

Does this chapter make up for all of the angst I’ve shoved down your throats?
Also I’m sorry if this chapter wasn't as long as the others. I wasn’t really sure what to add.

Please take all the time that you need. Obviously I don't know what happened and it's not my place to ask but I am still sending my love and support. I hope that things get better for you soon. 😟 ❤
Thank you. It means a lot to me
Sorry...
So I'm just going to make this short and simple.
I'm taking some time off of social media for a few days. This means I will not be posting any new fics on tumblr.
Something bad has happened over the weekend, and although I cannot go into great detail about it, I can tell you that it's impacted my life.
Please understand that I am going through a super tough time, and I am so sorry that I will not be posting fics soon.
If I feel better by Wednesday of this week, I'll try to post something. But until I do feel better, I'm going to be off social media.
Sorry. I wish it didn't have to be like this.
I love you!
