Kimimaro listened silently as she spoke, simply brushing off the words. He had faced many things in his life, there was nothing that he was intimidated by anymore. “I am going with you, I will not just sit back during a mission that I was assigned to. I am more experienced in dangerous missions than you realize. Giant spiders are not a new concept to me, I have observed one named Kyodaigumo in person.”
“Do not be so swift to judge. I believe that I will be able to handle the mission, it should not be much of a problem.” He knew enough about spiders from observing Kyodaigumo when he was able to in the past that he was confident in his abilities for this mission. “Now, instead of trying to frighten me with the details, perhaps introductions are in order. I am Kimimaro Kaguya, pleased to meet you.” Luckily he had experience in keeping his expression blank and tone devoid of any hint of sarcasm, as he did not like the way she had been speaking to him. She was underestimating his abilities, something that was a mistake. Perhaps she would realize that during the mission though.
His dialogue didn’t serve to impress her either. She had semi-anticipated some resistance: this guy was a hire from outside the village, so clearly he was going to have a tougher exterior. He would ust have to wait and see then. This “Kyodaigumo” was enough to desensitize him, hopefully. The last time the village sent her on an accompanied mission like this, she’d forced her partner to return early. They were probably still trying to get over their arachnophobia. “Gankokori Kumoko. What I say goes, so don’t brush me off. Rule number one: don’t go anywhere alone. Rule number two: don’t backtalk me. Rule number three: do not spend more chakra than is necessary. It’s not just an annoying waste–it’s like a blood trail to some of them. On that note, unpack any scented soaps or fragrances.” From behind her dark lenses, she was looking him over. Kaguya Kimimaru rang a bell at least. But she had no personal experience with this shinobi. She would have to rank him personally later. “We have to move to our transfer point. You were given the file, right? Double-check and make sure everything you have abides by those guidelines.”
Kimimaro nodded slowly as she spoke. This may have been the first time they were working together, but his experience meant that he was already fully prepared for the mission.
"I do not have a pack with me. It would only serve to weigh me down. I do not even bring food normally, I hunt my own food when needed. On the chakra consumption, you will notice that my kekkei genkai does not require much." As if to illustrate his point, he held up his right hand, extending a sharp bone from it for her to see that he was truthful in that.
"I read the entire file for the mission, I am ready. I was ready even before I arrived. A member of a former team of mine was a sort of expert on spiders, I am used to dealing with them." Training with Kidomaru in the past at least had him more than prepared for this mission.
“My reasoning? I just wish to test my own ability to heal against it. That toxin of yours is something I have never seen before.” He was more curious than anything. He knew his ability to heal and armor of bone would aid him against it but he was still curious nonetheless.
“I believe that my ability of regeneration will offset it. My ability regenerates quickly enough that I could remove my own spine without consequence.” Regeneration was almost instantaneous for him, so he wanted to test the limits of his own ability.
“…I’m not sure I want to attempt something like that and have you turn around and reprimand me for it,” If it didn’t work and he got hurt, he may come after her for it. He was way out of her league skill level wise, and could easily take her in a fight.
“Touching people for the fun of it isn’t really…something I can do without a lot of consideration”
Kimimaro shrugged slightly in response to her words. "I believe that my ability of regeneration will be more than enough to counteract it. I simply think that your toxin is interesting, much like how you seem to think of my usage of bones."
He nodded slightly before continuing to speak. "I do understand the concern, though. I do not use my bones against others unless my goal is to harm them. I can grow them from anywhere on my body as well as being able to manipulate the bones of others."
“I suppose I can say the same…though I find it unusual I haven’t heard of you,” She had heard about almost everyone, and at any given moment she has pulling up statistics on said people who may be coming into her line of sight or who may come up in her research. This situation…made her uncomfortable…

“There is more than likely a reason you have not heard of me. I am the last member of my clan. My clan was the one that attacked Kirigakure years ago, I was the only survivor. After that, I was a shinobi in Otogakure. I was meant to remain unheard of.” He paused for a moment, in thought. He had something he wanted to test.
He held out his hand towards her. “I am curious. Use your toxins on my skin, I want to see if they will do anything to me.” The layer of bone remained under his skin, she would be able to see it briefly during this if it worked out how he thought. “There is a reason for this, you will see.”
“You want me to try and..infect you? I don’t follow your reasoning,” Was he considering making some sort of cure for her toxin? If that were the case, then he could sell it and she’s be essentially useless to her family…to herself. Her ability was all she had to define herself, and make her useful to her family.
“I’m not sure that’s a good idea. I don’t believe that anyone, no matter how strong they are, can counteract my ability…unless you have some sort of ability of your own,” She hadn’t connected the dots yet, she was more focused on being defensive and attempting to distance herself from the things that made her uncomfortable.

Kimimaro took that last statement as a personal challenge, reaching over to gently run a finger over the area of healed skin.
“Just because I am not able to walk on my own currently does not mean I’m completely unable to do anything.” He wasn’t backing down, it was a personal challenge now.
“Oh? Are you up for a challenge?” Kaida’s smirk grew, and she joined him on the bed, then, swinging her leg over to straddle him
“Let’s see, Kimi-chan” she teased
Kimimaro looked up at her as she straddled him, tilting his head slightly. "Is it really a challenge?"

Kimimaro laid down carefully as she helped him to the bed, simply laying flat on his back. “I will stop touching the area then if that would be better for you.”
Yes her reactions were pretty great, but he’d do whatever she wanted him to do on that subject. “Thank you for helping me to the bed, though.”
“Well.. I mean, I don’t hate it but..” her voice trailed off, before she smirked
“You’re a bit too injured to actually handle me if you keep touching me there” she teased
