mutuals bring ur sweaters n quilts n a tea cup and meet me in a sea-side cottage and we can sit in a big pillow pile on the floor by the fireplace as we tell old sailor’s stories while the thunder booms over the ocean outside
What I’m noticing is that there’s a lot of English lit in the academia tag, but a lack of English language, so I’m here to fill the niche that quite possibly encompasses only me.
- Scribbling linguistic definitions in the margins of notebooks
- Empty notebooks lined up neatly on shelves ( you swear you’ll use them someday when the time is right. you don’t want to ruin a perfectly blank book just yet.)
- The front divider of your binder is about to fall apart, but you can’t quite replace it - you’re not sure why, but it means something to you now.
- Wishing you’d established a consistent highlighter colour code at the start of the year, but life isn’t always that simple. You resort to choosing the colour based on how you feel that day. You’re inexplicably more satisfied with this
- Maybe you wanted to choose literature, language had been a relentless subject the previous year, but you find yourself falling deeper and deeper in love with the somewhat scientific feel of the essays you write.
- Realising you’re really not as familiar with the subject terminology as you should be; Mixing up adjectives and adverbs, despite how sure you were of the difference. You can’t help it sometimes.
- The history of the English Language is where you really started to get invested. You learn about the hybridic nature of English, which at its most basic, is an excuse to pick up Latin in your own time, just for fun.
- Realising that kids are incredible for acquiring language so fast. This class really makes people want to have a domestic life. Not you, but you can appreciate the complexity of it.
- Realising that books, regardless of target age, are intricately designed. Children’s books are surprisingly deep and meaningful when you take the right perspective. Maybe they’re written for the parents as well as the children.
- You stop dreading essays and start becoming invested in them. You want to keep writing, even after you’re done. You want to start your coursework before you know the prompt before you’ve picked a book to be inspired by before you’ve chosen your research topic. You can’t help it.
Hello! I’m a new study blog on the block, looking for people to follow :> Will mainly be posting just to keep track of my productivity, with a few goofs in between, reblogs appreciated!
