umbane:
Kayn knows that things are not often as they appear. A woman standing by the lake in Ionia may be a spirit or a demon — she may want to trick passersby into trusting her, or she may want to impart wisdom on them. In Noxus, a woman standing alone in such an isolated spot would almost certainly be an ambush, acting to trap the trusting and the soft-hearted.
Luckily, Kayn does not recall ever being soft of heart. He has dealt with demons and robbers and spirits all, and he’s confident in his ability to handle this, too. Whatever it may be.
Still, as he considers all these possibilities, he wonders what a woman by a lake, either by accident or not, would be searching for. Would people approach her, even knowing the risks? Would she want the company of a stranger? In the end, Kayn supposes it doesn’t matter. She has caught his interest, and when she speaks, it is in the stable tone of someone who is unafraid, or who finds security in something outside of themselves. She is as tranquil as the waters of the lake, and it only makes Kayn all the more curious.
“You are either very wise, or very foolish.” His voice moves through the darkness as he speaks, bending through the shadows until his body forms a short distance from her — almost as if he had formed himself from the darkness itself. Kayn steps out so that she can better see him, including the red eye of Rhaast and the scythe, wrapped up and slung across his back. Though one hand ends in hooked claws, the one he rests on his hips is perfectly human. Kayn looks her up and down and recognizes neither her face nor her garb. She speaks of the moon as one who would worship it, but she doesn’t wear the garments of any of the orders he knows of. “There are many who only find their demise roaming around at night like you are.”
Kayn walks a slow circle around her, dark hair falling against his back, footfalls light even on the uneven ground, but he comes no closer than when he first appeared. He’s far enough away that, even if he were to extend his scythe at the end of his arm, he could not reach her. “You are not from any of the Orders here,” he says. “I can tell that much at a glance.” The shadows play with the Noxian features of his face. “It is a long journey, and perilous too. What brings you here? A yearning to look at the lake?”
;-- ☽ She understood the risks of being alone, but there was nothing for her to fear; her brother was no where around, and she was mostly immune to dying. . . normally at least. Her physical form is open to attacks and torture, so she is more than capable to feel pain beyond measure and possibly die, however her soul was chained to the spirit realm so even if her body were to collapse, her spirit would live on. It would merely take about a month or so for her physical form to rejuvenate in order for her to step once more into this world, but she would not die.
Any badly ill person could try to hurt her and succeed, but it was nothing she could not withstand. She would much prefer for it to not happen, of course.
Alune took in a small breath and oh so faintly could it be seen as though the atmosphere was cold - which was not. Her hands came together as finger intertwined, and she remained as still as ever while the newcomer in her circle of peace interrogated her from afar.
She could not blame him; she was a peculiar sight to behold and one that many might find D A N G E R O U S.
The moon child then slightly turned her head to the side as her gaze averted itself onto the ground instead of the lake now while she listened to his words. If she were to tell him the truth, would he believe her? She has not caught a glimpse of his person just yet as she deemed it more polite for him to investigate her first before she could make her move, but she felt as though this man has seen many things in his life, so perhaps he might trust her words?
What would happen if he refused to believe?
At last, once the other had finished talking and she had given a pause to think, she opened her mouth and softly did she respond, her eyes now lifted and aimed back onto the waters that glistened so wonderfully.
❛ Foolish as it may sound, I find peace in the night. Perhaps if I truly walked among this cold earth like yourself and many others, I would’ve taken better precautions into walking alone. ❜
It was then that she turned around to properly face the man, to show her face a bit better but kept a distance from him, so he can properly examine her without fear.
❛ Do not worry. I am not here to harm you. I truly came here to take in the surroundings as it has been a while since I’ve laid my feet onto the ground, took in nature’s scent, and felt the breeze hit my face. I understand your curiosity, and my positioning may be off putting, but do not fear. Like you said, I should be the one afraid for my life. ❜
A faint smile then crossed her pale features.
❛ Mount Targon is my home, the peak where Mother Moon touches and graces us with her presence. My name is Alune. ❜
The more information she gave to him, perhaps he would be more willing to trust her enough to either not ‘kill’ her or establish a new friend.
