Bonnie & Maude is a monthly film podcast in which hosts Eleanor Kagan and Kseniya Yarosh take on films and television shows from a femme-centric perspective. Topics range from classic rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally to surprisingly entertaining B-movies like Hard Ticket To Hawaii. The key: keeping a sense of humor and an open mind while delving into memorable cinema both old and new. -- Eleanor Kagan works for NPR, on the new game show Ask Me Another. Cicada YA lit/comics mag is looking for poetry, fic, nonfic, satire, and comics on WITCHES. We’re on the lookout for folk and fairy tale retellings, investigations of the witch in history, works on the everyday spellcraft of fashion, beauty, makeup, and the domestic (the hearth, the cauldron, the kitchen) as well as the spell cast by the arts. (As a young adult, my aunt got me a subscription to Cicada after I “outgrew” Cricket (do people really outgrow Cricket? asking for a friend) and it is a good and lovely magazine for young people that everyone should support.)

Our guest Lisa Hanawalt has her fingers in many pies. She is a published artist/author, hilarious film critic for The Hairpin, co-host of the Baby Geniuses podcast, and co-producer & production designer of the Netflix show BoJack Horseman. Her sneakily feminist views have been been available in a variety of mediums but we were especially excited to speak with her about Hook, the 1991 Peter Pan reimagining starring Robin Williams.

Is it a kids movie or an erotic masterpiece filled with genderfluid characters that inspire the imagination? You may be surprised.
