When There is ZERO Room Left in Your Home for New Books…

If you find yourself trading out necessary furniture for extra bookshelves or bumping into over piles of books you’ve stacked in the middle of the floor, here are some questions you might want to ask yourself to help you make room for the books that *accidentally* follow you home.

1. Does this bring me joy? Save your shelf space for the books that make your heart happy. Try to avoid books that make you wonder why you bought them, even if they were a recommendation from a friend, a gift, or an impulse buy. Live your best life, friends.

2. How long have I had it? Sometimes, if you’ve had a book on your shelves for 5+ years and you still haven’t gotten around to it, it’s okay to admit you probably never will.

3. Will I reread it or loan it to a friend? This is the question we ask when we’re really short on space. If you liked a book but know you probably won’t reread it or want to lend it out, it might be time to donate to a new home. (Unless just seeing the book on your shelve brings you joy. Then keep it. Always keep the books that bring you joy.)

Please note: We encourage excessive book buying. We spend a lot of time stacking books and reorganizing our shelves so we don’t have to get rid of anything ever. This post was written just in case of emergencies. We sincerely hope you never have to use it.
