Got emotionally destroyed by this book after binge reading it and I just realized that one reason I may be reacting so strongly is GOD. It’s fucking violin boy all over again but imagine if Justin not only emotionally cheated, chose him, stayed with him forever rubbed it in Brian’s face every chance he got while acting like their relationship was nothin BUT they’d also been together 12 freaking years before the disrespect and playing in his face happened. My childhood TV had a VHS slot and a DVD player connected to it, and at least in my country the weekend newspapers would include a cheap DVD movie for kids (usually terrible German animation of some fairytale), to get parents to buy newspapers.

This is very true. The 2000s often had VHS and DVDs side by side. It took a long time to phase out VHS in retail.
