anyway i'm rewatching ted lasso and i'm on the amsterdam episode and. the scene where jamie talks about how his dad took him to the red-light district to lose his virginity and roy immediately acknowledges that such an experience must have been so traumatizing for a fourteen-year old...but beyond that the moment when jamie goes "honestly i don't remember" and roy whips his head around to look at him with such open concern on his face...i'm not sure if the writers meant for it to come off as roy knowing that people often block out traumatic memories or if it was meant to signify roy's shock that jamie admitted to forgetting something about amsterdam when all day he's been spouting exact memories about this place he's visited at most a handful of times. either way it's so powerful it's just a handful of seconds but it's moments like these that really make this show

some people will be like “I wonder why fanfic writers don’t share their works anymore😔” and then this is them when a writer is kind enough to share something they write — as a hobby, for their own enjoyment — with them for free.

some people really don’t realize how privileged they are that they get fanfics for free. imagine having access to something for free because someone is kind enough to share it with you… and then being rude, entitled and an ungrateful pos to that person who was kind enough to share their creation with you for free

“almost 1 year is a lil too much for me” fuck off. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything. one of my favorite fics was updated after 13 years, and what I did is that I thanked the author for choosing to continue the work, I didn’t act like a spoiled toddler by asking why they didn’t update sooner. and even if a writer chooses to abandon their fic permanently with no explanation, that is their choice, their hobby, their decision. they don’t owe your entitled ass anything.

So we all know that Wylan, at least in the show, uses musical notes to label his chemicals

Which is really cool. And I've seen people guess at what specific notes he might use to signify specific chemicals.

BUT, and I know it's shown in the gif that the notes do in fact have a specific pitch, but what if it wasn't about pitch and more about rhythm and note values?

A word like 'phosphorus', three syllables, easily can be broken down into a crotchet and 2 quavers. Seeing the rhythm written down and then applying it to the rhythm of the word in your head would be more memorable than trying to match each chemical to a specific melody. I suppose the pitches written would also indicate pronunciation as well, as some words have similar rhythms.

I originally thought that the labels didn't have stave markings, but on closer inspection I think they are just very faint, so this idea held a lot more worth in my head.

this isnt really important or relevant in any way but I'm very hyperfixated on the crows at the minute and I am a musician so 🤷‍♂️
