Hold up…. Crowely was/is a BIG part of the ineffable plan.

first complaining in heaven (about the length of existence of the universe) before hell was a thing….then trying to do everything to stop the Armageddon even over the years convincing Aziraphale to help stop it. Wanting to run off to the stars that Crowley help create. HE LITERALLY STARTED THE UNIVERSE WHERE ‘THE GREAT PLAN’ AND ‘THE INEFFABLE PLAN’ TAKE PLACE IN.

How I think Aziraphale and Crowely felt after the final ‘we could’ve been us’ interaction.

Aziraphale: after a long time, FINALLY realized how Crowely must’ve felt all these years and is absolutely heartbroken. Also a bit ashamed of their reaction to Crowely (ashamed of how they denied and ignored Crowely’s feelings). Begins to wonder if ‘nothing lasts forever’ can be seen as a reverence to their non existence relationship at that point. Tries to move on but they can’t.

Crowely: Heartbroken. Doesn’t know what to do and they, very VERY important, understand where Aziraphale is coming from (still finding Aziraphale extremely stupid tho). Tries to find distractions because they can’t deal with their new/old emotions. Basically rethinking ‘life’.

Personally, I find that Crowely has more sympathy and understanding for emotions than Aziraphale. That will make it a hell for Crowely and a rollercoaster for Aziraphale.

WHAT IF…

Crowley doesn’t ‘see the point’ anymore (like in the beginning of season 2) and decides to go to hell. There Crowely gets in trouble and Aziraphale has to come down. Please, I’m begging Gaiman for black turtleneck Aziraphale in hell with black eyeliner trying to look like a ‘demon’ but actually looking like a SNACK.
